Mr. Freakstorm, your journalism skills require improvement. May I suggest another career field? With your profound laziness and incompetence, you could easily hide in the Information Technology career field. They are so desperate for workers that one such as yourself could find and hold a job and not exert much effort.

It took at least 20 years to get Donna Summers songs out of my head. Now they're back. Damn it.

2012-05-19 09:50:00 AM
Odd.

Maybe the story is that there is no story.

2012-05-19 09:50:30 AM
I went with inspired. To find out after all these years that I have to do nothing for my money is...well inspiring. I'll start working on that this afternoon right after my nap

I'm kinda curious about the story since I always assumed it went:

"Well, they were doing a movie and hired a songwriter to write songs about a woman who works. Then they called and offered me a lot of money to record one of the songs, so I did."

Wow. I just read about the origin of that song in a volume of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader not five minutes ago. Evidently she was inspired to write it after seeing a bathroom attendant in a posh hotel, and thinking that she must work hard for her money,

/I feel ... relieved

I lol'd. And then I decided this was probably the most accurate statement ever made about today's reporting of both news and non-news, regardless of what source reports it.

So the story is "I saw this woman who worked hard, then I spent 20 minutes writing a song."

THAT is what makes the story a bit more inspirational- props to Summers for paying homage to the woman. The fact it only took 20 minutes to write her song only goes to show the profound effect this woman had on her.
