Can I just say that I farking hate those guys who feel like they have to talk though everything? "I'm not validated unless I emit audible sound at least every few seconds!" STFU, dude. If people wanted to hear you, they'd pay you for it.

Hey camera douche- it's better to remain quite and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

2012-05-19 10:42:12 AM
Dude. SHUT UP. Seriously.

2012-05-19 10:47:12 AM
Ha! Just came to say what a douche the cameraman was. Really? Nonstop babbling...nonstop "un-freakin-believable" or "in-freakin-credible"...

Yes, it was cool...you should let nature do the expressing, not your gaping maw.

floe [floh]
noun
1.
Also called ice floe. a sheet of floating ice, chiefly on the surface of the sea, smaller than an ice field.
2.
a detached floating portion of such a sheet.

In short, read a book, subby.

The narrative is really annoying, but I gotta hand it to em...

Good camera work.

THAT'S A TREE!! IT'S A FRIGGIN' TREE!!!!

2012-05-19 12:03:14 PM
I for one was glad for the commentary. When I saw that long piece of wood with roots on the end of it I could not for the life of me figure out what that could be. Just then the cameraman told me THAT'S A TREE, A WHOLE FRICKIN TREE, A WHOLE ENTIRE TREE. He must be doing a double major of geology and dendrology.

2012-05-19 12:04:42 PM
"It's a whole, freakin tree!!!"

Looked more like a fence post what went floating by. On the bright side, at least he's getting outside more.

Lifelong friend and his wife had their first child this week; I was the only one at the hospital there to film and I filmed for forty minutes and saw them show this video to friends yesterday and I am inanely babbling about their child to the camera almost the entire time.

Has there every been a video with good camerawork AND a lack of shiatty commentary? At least the camerawork was good in this one.

Yes ---the guy would not shut up 00 Bla Bla Bla Un freaking believable -- Wow -- Bla Bla

I was hoping that a tree limb would spear him and carry him off down river with him all the while shouting

"Unfreaking believable!! "

That would have made the video worthwhile

I learned that good cameramen are neither seen nor heard. Therefore, he was merely adequate.

Yeah, maybe I'm being harsh. Exciting things are exciting, I know. I'm sure I do it, too, which makes me a hypocrite. But there are those guys -- we all know them -- who can't just be quiet and let things happen, let events speak for themselves, just experience and let others experience, ever. They have to be constantly commenting, trying to joke and be witty (and usually failing), just being non-stop noise machines in life for everyone else around them.

GreatGlavinsGhost: I learned that good cameramen are neither seen nor heard. Therefore, he was merely adequate.

Touche. I meant it along the lines that he was keeping the camera steady and was actually catching the action. If the camera was shaking and he shut the hell up, everyone would accuse him of being Michael J. Fox without giving any credit for being quiet.

Visually, the video was good. The audio was horrendous.

"You can hear it" - no, actually I can't.

Can we kill him now?

Exactly. I hit the mute button so I could enjoy the video.

I give him credit for not having Parkinsons-Camera disease, which puts the video above 99% of what's on the Internet.

This, but it would have been nice to be able to listen to the natural sounds and not this idiot yapping.

Tubesteak: I can't be the only one thinking they were going to be swept away to an icy death.

I was wondering about that. After all the yapping I was quite disappointed that it didn't happen.

Saw an ice floe in VT when staying at an inn on a ski trip. I forget the river but we were a good 100-150 yards from the river. You could hear it from inside the inn, and see it as it piled up above the banks.

Impressive.

As crazy as this sounds, maybe he wasn't filming it for an audience. Maybe he was filming it to capture a moment for himself and some friends, their excitement would be part of the memories they captured, and only later did they decide to upload it.

I know that sounds insane, especially here on Fark, where we hold random videos shot by random people to the highest of standards, but it just might be true.

My point is that he's probably like that in real life, all the time. It's boorish. But I also conceded that we all get like that sometimes, and I probably overreacted. That was way up the thread. Thanks for taking the time to check, before spouting off. I think this is the part where I'm supposed to say "Ass!" in reaction to your dripping sarcasm, but since you're so farking smart and clever I'm sure you can do a much better job of it yourself.

Jesus. All the hate in this thread for this guy who's just expressing himself while looking at a spectacular natural event (and doing decent camera work to boot).

I agree with everything that was said about him.
