Actually, there are two offices in the land, not just one as the AZ Secretary of State claims, that require the holder to be a natural-born citizen. They are President and Vice President.

I'm curious to know why the good people of AZ aren't emailing their Secretary of State to investigate Biden's birth and obtain verification that he was actually born in the US.

Between him and the Governor, I've not had a reply to any complaint. McCain at least replied. Same with Debbie Lesko, ALEC tea bagging nut lady.

pxsteel: Holy h3ll you farkers are absolutely batshiat.

Ken Bennett is one of the most level headed people in politics. He does not crave the limelight or headlines.

The state requires for each election that documents are collected before they are placed on the ballot, as do most states. The State of Hawaii provides a mechanism for this to work. Ken Bennett did more than lob the state of Hawaii a soft ball he teed it up for them. You don't have to send me an original, simply reply to my e-mail that you do have one on file.

The state of Hawaii has not replied

Bennett is doing his job, the state of Hawaii is not doing theirs.

The State of Hawaii charges $100 for honoring requests re: Ombama's birth. Did Bennett pay that fee? Does he have the receipt? Why won't he show us?

It will be hilarious if Rmoney ends up running with Rubio. The Dems can pick up all the turds the birthers have been flinging, and fling them right back.

Marcus Aurelius: Bennett, the state's No. 2 elected official just below Gov. Jan Brewer (R), said his investigation isn't personal. He said the reason he started looking into it is because he got more than 1,200 emails asking him to do so after Arpaio's investigation came out

So if he got 1200 emails asking him to investigate Santa Claus he'd be on the next flight to the Arctic?

Sure.

Can we here on Fark generate 1200 emails requesting same? We could follow it up with 1200 emails asking him to investigate whether Hell is really located at the center of the Earth.

What in the name of holy f*ck would that even BE?

I wonder if I'll be alive to see the day when a black man that in no way can be questioned about being a US citizen is running the country. Racists everywhere will be having brain hemorrhages. I guess I have to assume the only reason they are still trying to attack Obama over his birth place is because the conservatives can use anything in his job performance against him and they fear Romney cannot beat Obama straight up? For Heaven sake, Obama's even half white but they can't deal with him anyways. Conservatives/The Birthers are so farked up.

I love how Republicans misread their position in American society. They think if they make some great stand--just like in the movies--against anything, then they're automatically going to have people on their side...and not be made fun of, mocked, or have the President just use this grandstanding to showcase to every other American why the Republicans don't deserve power at all.

You would think that the Republicans would understand how Obama is using them to make himself look better. But they don't, and at this point it's too late to think these sad, pathetic bigots can even fix the problems. The Republicans are now the party of bigots, losers, and assholes. The Democrats just took everything good from their platform and just ran with it.

Maybe its time to cut all Federal money going to Arizona.

What does he think CERTIFIED means? Doesn't his own office certify copies of Arizona state records to verify their authenticity? Don't Arizona certified documents have an identical legal status as Hawaii certified documents? He's undermining the legitimacy of his own office and government with this nonsense.

I think it is some weird psychological denial thing, that they can't handle having a black president, so their minds run away into fantasy-land where they can pretend Obama's presidency is invalid.

Birthers need therapy to work through their issues but clearly they won't get it.

This is just one of many states in which concerted efforts are being made to prevent President Obama from being on the ballot. Isn't this kind of, you know, treasonous? If the Secretary of State of California or Massachusetts became involved in an attempt to ban the repubs from putting their candidates on the ballot, there'd be hell to pay, and rightly so. This is an attempt to create a one party state within the Union. Are you allowed to do that? Does this justify "Second Amendment remedies" on the part of the disenfranchised?

The article is an absolute lie. I listened to the interview live on the radio on my way home yesterday. Several of the things in the article are absolute fabrications, reaches and outright untruths.

Then it should be trivial for you to provide evidence debunking the article.

The problem is that it was AM radio.

Makes sense.

-By doing this, he stirs up the birfers.

-If he gets what he wants, he scores points among the birfers and other Fark Independent™ types for having made Fartbongo and the libtards dance to his tune.

-If he gets the hammer brought down and told to stop his shenanigans by the feds he stirs up the States' Rights wingnuts.

-And in the 1 in a million chance he succeeds? He locks down Arizona, which thanks to Romney's John Kerryesque stature is currently in play.

It's just like Ahmadinejad when he loudly announced they were going to start working on nuclear power. There's very little likelihood of it NOT paying off, because the people he's playing it for are dumb. Funny how often the Republicans take their queues from terrorist shiatheads.

Sorry late to the party as always but am I the only person that is baffled by this "he has to be born IN the US to be a natural born citizen!" garbage? It was always my understanding that if your parents were citizens you are automatically a citizen by birth right, thus being "natural born".

By birther logic our Lord and Saviour™ Tim Tebow can't be president because he was born in the Philippines.

I should probably just give up trying to apply logic and reason to the birther movement.

Half-white is still black. Hell they used to have terminology for degrees of white ancestry and the rule was still, "one drop of ni-BONG blood is all it takes."

Some old racial terms for mixed ancestry, because I find it interesting in a historical sense.

No, he's following the lead of the Warlord of Arizona. Any Republican officeholder there ignores Sheriff Joe at his political peril.

A few tribes here date back to about 700 AD or so. The village of Walpi, on the Hopi Reservation, has been inhabited since 900 AD.

So Arizona has history. Just not White Man history.

Short answer: They don't care, they just hate Obama.

Long answer: They have a long, long, LONG list of increasingly complex and always-wrong explanations for how Obama's parents COULD, in some realm of vague possibility, not be a citizen. Everything from when certain laws were passed to where Stanley Ann Dunham lived during certain periods to when Hawaii became a state to made-up lies about her renouncing her citizenship either consciously or de facto by marrying a ni-BONG Muslim from muslimia.

It's not about truth, it's about hate.

The only reason this thing exists at all is because you can't have somebody impeached/ removed from office/ invalidated/ whatever simply for being a black democrat. Everything else is just a bizarre pantomime of bullshiat, excuses, deflections and necessarily spurious reasoning.

That's the logic of it, and it's sound enough.

The thing is, the birth certificate and public image of it have been circulating for years now, and they still won't get off the topic. I'm fine with the candidates having to submit a copy of their birth certificates (once)... but continuing to cry about it after you have the certified copy of the birth certificate is just being a dick.

Federal Election Law trumps bum-fark AZ sec of state. Would be fun to watch AZ react to learning about the Voting Rights Act.

Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment allows for a state's representation in the House of Representatives to be reduced to the extent that state unconstitutionally denies people the right to vote.

Would be FUN to watch the reaction to AZ losing 50% of their representatives. LOLOLOL.

Plus, at some point, the GOP would risk both retribution from the dems and the voters. so it wont happen. just a cracker making noise.
