That seems terribly overpriced...TWC should be pretty used to it.

He should have claimed to be a woman. Women win workplace porn claims.

TWC does sell porn, they do have signal and channel issues from time to time, and their porn is not cheap. If you work in Technical Operations, you could probably assume you might have to check their signal issues from time to time.

They've had problems with other people complaining TWC sells porn channels and making hay over it. Bottom line is if you're not comfortable with porn or anything else a company sells, you probably shouldn't work there.

(Disclosure I work for TWC, I'm not speaking for TWC, but I rather do like working for the company.)

I use to work with Cox Cable, and yeah, if someone called in complaining their porn wasn't working, we had to check. We'd go to the channel, order it and see if it worked. If not, issue went to the NOC to check the signals.

/strangest call I got was a 70 yr old woman call in because their playboy wasn't working, they had the 15/month sub for it

A creepy old asst manager of mine would show people at work videos of him banging strippers/hookers. He would hire them through their websites when they would go on tour through town. Glad I worked in another building and didnt have to see it. He was a classy guy decon in his church even.

In this country you can sue for any reason, so long as there is a lawyer willing to take the case.

In Time Warners defense they were just defering judgement to god, who are they to take the almightys place?

True dat. The hard part is winning....unless you get a crazy judge (of which there are many)

I work for a reseller, it's an industry standard, my clients find their end users watching it, no big deal, just block the ports (giggity), use a decent firewall. Or at the very least netsend them with a rating "I find your choice of porn pretty disturbing, hairy women, really? Please redirect to the following sites, ..."
Well probably too many characters for a netsend but via Lync, or whatever IM service you're using.

I'm not religious, but I'm more familiar with the bible than some religious people I've talked to over the years. The bible rails on and on about many things, but I can't recall a section that calls for reporting others for viewing a natural behavior everyone's parents have engaged in. Same for drugs. Using drugs is not a biblical sin aside from the throw-away line about following the laws of the land (put in there to keep early Christians from being executed by governments). In general, the bible says to leave people the fark alone, well, except for the parts where you're supposed to kill them....good thing this guy didn't witness gay porn or in his mind he might have been required to go on a killing spree.

Was it German scheisse videos? Because I'll be honest, I like regular pron, but the one or two times I accidentally saw bits of a German scheisse video I screamed like a little girl.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.

If the co-worker was watching actual pornography, the person complaining wouldn't need to bring up the fact that he is a Christian. I love porn, but I'd still be uncomfortable if a co-worker was watching it at his his desk. No need to bring your religion into it.

It reminds me of when Ray Comfort accused Delta airlines of broadcasting child porn because "Little Miss Sunshine" was the in flight movie.

The "porn" watcher was probably catching up on Game of Thrones or something.

The sins are gluttony and coveting. You can watch porn and do drugs. Just don't watch porn where the girl is married, and don't do *too* many drugs. You'll be golden.

but you can view the matters on twc's pay per view porn channel

While this guy is an idiot for claiming religious discrimination...it IS creepy this office place knew workers were watching porn on company time and did nothing it. I think they do have an obligation to stop workers from watching it since other worker might have a problem with it (no matter the reason). Plus it is really easy to do with a decent web filter and competent IT staff.

Plus I don't understand people who do that at work. When I'm working not once have I ever thought "Well, I better take care of this horniness right now!" Then again I've never been horny at work, so that might have something to do with it.

alowishus: If the co-worker was watching actual pornography, the person complaining wouldn't need to bring up the fact that he is a Christian.

Agreed. It's not the state's job to ensure that businesses make proper accommodation for all their employees' religious practices. To do so would be making a law respecting the establishment of religion, which, if memory serves, was outlawed in the Declaration of Independence or the Pickwick Papers or something.

And anyway, the thrust (har!) of the Bible seems to be that, "Hey, Christian, you live in a world that, at times, seems completely saturated in sin, vice, temptation, and sin. Deal with it. Rise above it. If mud splashes on you, so be it. Wash it off when you have a chance. But don't ever think you can get away with reasoning that, if mud's going to splash on you, you might as well wallow in it anyway. I am the Lord, and I can tell the difference, you dumb mopes. And when it comes time to convict sinners of their sins, and convert them to The Way, try to remember that that's my job, not yours."

/Christian who thinks Ray Comfort ought to get a real job, like his brother Alex.

Why sue on religous grounds? Sexual harassment, keep it simple!

I actually worked in the Server Operations Center for the provider who made a lot of their money with porn. So we often had to surf their pages to make sure they were up and working. That was the only perk of that job.

As a former TWC NYC employee, I know there be porn. Heck when DVR first came out, people would return them (for one reason or another) but forget to erase their recorded porn. The refurb crew would start working on them and get a nice surprise.

Really the most uncomfortable was when you go to some smarmy dude's house and see his box was stuffed with porn. Or work on a guy's cable modem and it's like all porn links cached in his browser.

Probably the most amusing were the guys who paid their bill in person and you'd see the nice movies they ordered.
