(Gather)   It's easy to think UFO 'summoner' Robert Bingham is a crackpot for predicting a mass sighting on Saturday in LA. Except, he's done it before. And it worked   (news.gather.com) divider line 64

Zaladreyn: Its the power of suggestion. That's how faith healers like Benny Hinn do it to.

Benny Hill was a faith healer?

On a completely unrelated story...

This weekend at March Air Force Base just east of Los Angeles, the thunderbirds and several other flight teams will be performing at the air show.

This will in no way influence sightings however.

Oh, and Nrokreffefp, he didn't mention religion. This is not a thread about religion. Shut up.

What is the difference between classical religion and a guy claiming that aliens nobody can prove do or don't exist are actually angels who protect our species? None. Angels are themselves a religious creation. Sorry you are delusional and don't like having delusion mocked.

I'm an atheist, actually. I just think it is awfully dickish to use a tissue-paper thin excuse to harass another guy in a thread that has nothing to do with your angry rant.

Except it's Tats. The dickishness sort of cancels out.

Sure. Don't you remember the sketch where Benny, dressed as a faith healer, is trying to train his dog in a park. He keeps shouting "Heel! Heel!", and behind him all manner of elderly people are getting up from their wheelchairs, and throwing away their white sticks.

I'm sure it's on Youtube, although I've been unable to find it.

FTA: Whether or not Robert Bingham has the ability to summon UFOs at will is beside the point. If he's successful again, it will be hard to explain.

The world will know for sure come Sunday whether he's a fraud or a prophet.

Zerocyde: So, because he has enough time to stage an event before-hand that makes his sightings more believable?

Yeah, people are pretty dense, it seems.

If this is the same guy I'm thinking of the last video I saw even had someone say "I see the balloon!" at one point.

This guy's a flat-out fraud.

So shut-up about the Religion crap and stick to science.

He was sticking to science: group delusions, suggestions, confirmation biases, etc.

In that regard, any mention of religion fitting that description is in fact a discussion of science, every bit as much as dismissing alien sightings using the same concepts.
