Good Meowning! Busy day today! I am getting in my bedding plants today, so hope to set them all! 4 flats worth. And I am sure that Eli will be helping me...He likes to lounge around in the hosta while I plant things.

I will try to get some pictures. Have not had any " fresh" Eli pics in a while.

Yobbery glad you are ok.
Quantum_Jellyroll wonderful work.

Now, moar coffee!

Springtime in the land of Little Mews is hectic as usual. Kittens are arriving in droves!

We went to the home of another hoarder. Took 11 young kittens, 12 teenage/adult cats out of there including at least two pregnant females, and there's still more!!! They also have Coonhounds tied outside and kept in little boxes in the garage. The Coonhounds in the garage have hair missing off their backs because the boxes they're kept in are so small they can't stand up all the way. According to neighbors these people used to have horses that were neglected, now there are two mounds of dirt where the horses probably are now. Also, the house where the people used to live had live dogs living in it, but they might be dead now. The police have been there numerous times but nothing was done. A friend who runs a dog rescue wants to get the police involved again. First we want to get the live animals out of there before the police have everything confiscated and taken to the local kill shelter. Then to top it all off, there is a 14 year old pregnant girl who the grandmother claims to "homeschool". CPS has been involved already. I don't deal with human babies only the feline babies!

What a mess! When the phone rings and someone tells me they have "some kittens" they need to find homes for, I never know what I'll really find.

Luckily we're finding homes for the other cats and kittens we have. We've had some really nice kittens that were adopted quickly which is good, it makes more room to take in dirty hoarder cats!!

This is Monica, one of the NYC "death row" cats we have, she is going to her new home this morning!! A day away from death, now she'll have a good life.

Happy Caturday to all!

My sister still hasn't had her baby so I am facing another 3.5 hour drive with Pico tomorrow. *sigh* I detailed my harrowing experience 2 weeks ago, but it was late in the thread so I will recap.

Pico was in his cat carrier but quickly busted out and was running around the car panicking. As I was getting off the highway to deal with him, he managed to put down the back window and was priming to jump out. I put up the window, stopped the car and put him back in the carrier. I got back on the highway (windows locked) and proceeded with my trip. He busted out again and continued with his full-on panic. I had to continue because soon-to-be hubby was waiting for me about 25 mins away and he had a flight to catch. By the time I got there, I was distraught from almost losing my cat and nearly getting rear-ended by an 18-wheeler. However, just before pulling up to the meet-up point, he started to calm down. By the time I dropped the SO at the airport in Montreal, Pico was calmly sleeping on the backseat not making a peep. The drive continued without issue to Ottawa. He eventually perched himself on top of the back bench to look out of the windows.

The drive back from Ottawa was also stressful but I was much more prepared mentally. He took longer to calm down, about 45 mins. But again, by the first stop, he was lounging on the back seat.

On the positive side, he was mostly good at my sister's. He only dumped a tray of seedlings. He is much better behaved when he's alone.

Old pic of culprit, he's humongous now.

This is Opie, a stray that chose us to live with us about a month ago. He came to us dirty and matted, but now he's the Kingpin. His fur is finally starting to grow back and he's just such a handsome blue eyed boy. Too bad he just sucks at jumping.....but we love him anyways :)

Happy Caturday from Opie!!!

You wouldn't believe the number of times I get requests asking me to remove the date/time stamps
from pictures for people. The amount of time and effort to do it is astounding, and when you give them
a quote based on that fact, they react like you're some sort of ravenous crook with no qualms about robbing people..

My stock answer now is a simple "No, you've ruined it and there is no fixing it economically."

It's about as frustrating as when someone tells me how their brother-in-law (or someone else)
has a camera with more megapixels than mine (with 12MP).

I respond that my megapixels have been blessed by the Pope, and that I have
three different lenses that are each worth more than their car.

yobbery: Greetings from mordor.
I'm not sure how much I'll be around this weekend. I've got tons of yard work to finish up and a couple car things to take care of. I was rear ended and pushed into someone on Tuesday. Everyone is fine but my poor Murano has seen better days. Last I heard the repair estimate was approaching 8K, and this morning when I spoke with the shop the insurance company told them to just disassemble the car and come up with a preliminary parts list. The car that hit me went under my car and I guess there's too much potential for hidden damage to give a decent estimate.

...dramatization, not an actual Murano in distress.

...and a cat.

Holy moly! Sorry about the Murano, but glad you're not hurt. I had the same thing happen to me on the highway (minivan rear ended me in my Accord and pushed me into the Cadillac in front of me) and I gots me some WHIPLASH! The thing I remember most is the disorienting feeling of moving forward while having the brake pedal fully depressed. Truly a "WHAFARK?!" moment.

Semi-related to yobbery: My husband got a new car a few weeks ago. He wants me to drive it so I'll know how (it's a little different). I have decided not to drive it, at least for a while (I'm nervous). He has to go on a business trip on Monday, so he's taking my car, leaving it at work and driving a rental to where he needs to go, leaving his car at home. Guess who has to drive it? It's a farking Beemer. A used one, but a beemer nonetheless. I was hoping I wouldn't have to drive it all, but on Monday's, Little Pie has gymnastics. Maybe I'll take a cab. lol

I took my mother for an MRI (she didn't want to go, but them's the breaks)
After I brought her back home, I grabbed my camera gear and headed back out.
A cousin's eldest granddaughter will be graduating in just a couple of weeks.
(I didn't realize she was *already* a Senior. I thought she was a Junior.)

I learned that due to financial constraints, her family never had Senior pictures taken.
This afternoon, we took care of that little matter.

I've been playing with the results this evening, and this is one I've worked up...

[i415.photobucket.com image 536x639]

Many years ago our family adopted a stray that had been hanging around that Dad (Mr. Creative) named Frisky. Frisky, for some reason, loved tomato sauce/spaghetti sauce. Mom literally had to run interference when she made pasta for dinner to block Frisky from hopping up on the counter and licking any utensil that had touched the sauce. Once dinner was ready, however, she turned a blind eye when Frisky jumped up on the table and started licking the sauce on Dad's plate (she always prepared his plate; the rest of us had to make our own). "It's OK, your father was bitten by a rat," she'd always say if I questioned her. (Dad used to tell us kids that the reason he never got sick is because he'd gotten bitten by a rat while playing in the alley when he was a little kid.)

Oh yeah. It's not going to cost me a single dime.
One of the cons of buying the car was I was extremely unhappy with the paint. They use a water based paint at the factory and within 3 months after I first got the car the front fascia was nothing but stone chips. Hopefully not a problem anymore. I just hope they can match the paint. They've dealt with me before and know how picky I am with my cars. My last 'trade in' (a nine year old Frontier that looked like it just rolled out of the showroom) didn't even make it to the sale. The finance manager at the dealership bought it from me as soon as he laid eyes on it.

Yep! Actually, it's not an out of warranty repair. They simply extended the warranty to 10 years or 120k miles on the transmission for those vehicles. Hopefully, the new one will be happier about going up hill.

Adorable as usual!

Yobbery: Glad everyone is ok. Sorry about your car.

Maybe I'll take a cab. lol

Would it help to think of it as a glorified VW? Relax, you'll be speaking with locked jaw and chatting Bitsy up at the Country Club in no time!

/disclaimer: I do not own, nor ever have owned a BMW. I did, however, grow up in the suburbs of NYC where every second car is one.

//Psst! Re: the lingo; a Beemer is a BMW motorcycle, a Bimmer is a BMW automobile. I made that mistake too. Don't be like me.

Bought me a 1999 BMW Z3 several years ago. In pristine condition.

Affordable.

And SO MUCH FUN TO DRIVE!

yobbery: Hey there! Since it seems we're on about cars...anyone know where the power steering fluid goes in a 99 pontiac grand prix? I've stared under that hood for 45 min. this morning, and it makes me nervous to think I'll stick it in the brake fluid or something. It's not labeled, and the 'net isn't helping me, here.

For Pontiacs, it's usually on the passenger side near the firewall. Next to/under the alternator ... this site has pics and a how-to that may help: http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/GM-Pontiac-Grand-Prix-GTP-Power-Ste ering-Whine/index.html

^^^This link will work if you remove the space from the word "steering", I think.
