cyberbenali, we too were in Ottawa last wk, up from Cincinnati. Older niece & her SO finally wed. Wedding was pretty good, well-done music, but (borrowing another amateur radio joke) the reception was excellent.
Spkg of which, I need to turn in shortly after setting alarm for 1 AM local, for one of the Aussie women amateur ops' nets I can access on EchoLink. Then get up at almost 0dark30 on the morrow for the Final Day of the Dayton HamVention. It only runs til 12N tomorrow, prize drawings after that which Plumbicon & I likely won't stay for. I hold the supply vat for the Young Ladies Radio Lg booth, so have to go collect what needs to be brought back here to lurk in basement for another yr.
Chorus & VLQ rehs today went quite well. Spouse & bro-in-law of a mbr unloaded & set up the chorus risers for us while the VLQ was rehearsing. Then mbrs struck risers & loaded them back into trailer where they live. The section & matching back step that belong to my chorus, + the safety rails, get taken back Mon before chorus reh. Saves us a trip; Pl can't give trailer back til Mon eve anyway. I'd thought we'd go to Waynesvl where the guy who keeps the trailer at his farm lives, but he needed to be in Cinti early this AM to work a beer booth at the St Bernard city fest, which Pl's chorus mates & our local amateur radio club were both going to do. Enough beer to float the Queen Mary, maybe. One other guy besides Pl is in both chorus & our radio club; he's a lot older & likely didn't flip a coin.

Also meant to thank Mrs CDK for Armed Forces Day flag & captionation. Likely already said my pc on the Canine Mbrs of US Forces Act already, but may not hurt to repeat.
It's ALL Forces mbrs, human & canine, that we need to thank & appreciate. Act seeks to make canine Forces mbrs, who didn't volunteer after all, not :"equipment" any longer. Which they never shoulda been. Also seeks to provide better veterinary care & adoption options when their time in service ends. Wrote both my US Senators & my Rep on this, at ASPCA's behest. The one Sen who replied back said he rather believes he'll support, should this make it to consideration.
