Not news: you're a dick.

Why? Because they don't care that some pseudo-celebrity died? Most people who actually 'care' that some singer/actor/entertiner died, are seriously lacking substance in life.

I happen to agree that it is not NewsFlash worthy. NewsFlash should be reserved for something that actually affects your life in a meaningful way. If this does (and you're not a relative), your life sucks.

Your life must be very sad and devoid of meaning. :(

(Yeah, yeah, I bit.)

I'm one of those girls who, although born in the 70's would have felt right at home on the disco floor.

RIP Donna Summer. She was fabulous!

That is a hell of a top ten.

Good R&R was taking a beating about that time. Even some of the R&R bands were tampering with disco. It was a sad time.

'76 wasn't that bad but yeah, later on it just got ridiculous. I went to progressive country until Urban Cowboy came out then npr and never went back to commercial radio.

Robert Stigwood has a lot to answer for.

Probably my fave Donna Summer song too...

This is the extent a 16 year old boy will go to get in his girlfriend's pants - took her to a Donna Summer concert and bought her a Best of Bread album.

Hated disco, but girlfriend loved Donna Summer. She must have had a dozen or so costume changes, but back then it was to be spectacular, no acting like a cheap stripper/whore like Madonna/Britney/all the rest like them. At least she had class and could actually sing.

Listen to you people. Giving a shiat? Really? Tell me about her religious, political or social views? Name all the cool things she did (aside from sing songs) for people. Without running to the internet right now and researching, tell me what you really know about her. Go ahead.

Saying "that sucks, I'll miss her music" is perfectly OK. Saying, "don't know who she is and don't care" is perfectly OK too - if a bit cold toward fellow human beings.

Pretending like it's worthy of NEWS FLASH - THIS JUST IN, IT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING - is just stupid (to me). Acting like you really give a sh*t - and unless you've tried contacting her recently to tell her how much her music means and that you wish she was making more - is disingenuous at best.

Yeah, I'm the a-hole. You are all the compassionate, cool people. Got it.

I went though a Disco phase in Jr. High (around 1977\8) Was exposed to it by older sister and her friends. Yes i danced at disco's when i was 13, yes i wore "those pants and unbuttoned shirts" , and i got more tail than any other guy but Leaf Garret during that time.
Had a 19 year old girl friend at 14 , we met on the dance floor and she dragged me outside to her car, and introduced me to a proper hummer..
Thank you Donna Summers, for all the mammories...

Rubber Biscuit: There go the seventies.

I wonder how this happened.

I lived through it, and don't see how it happened.

When I think of the seventies (and again, I was THERE, man), I think of Zappa, Zepplin, Yes, Floyd, CSN(Y), Jethro Tull, James Taylor, Queen, Heart...

But here we are in the future, and when people say "Seventies Music," they really mean disco.

It's not fair, man.

I really don't give a crap about what "tag" was used. That fact that you evidently care so much about what tag was used and that you are posting more than once in this thread about it suggests you lack substance in life.

Ok people...

Donna Summer did not sing "I will survive", that was Gloria Gaynor.

She did sing other famous songs like "I feel love", my mom used to put her music every satruday morning, I'm getting a bit nostalgic now because I loved that song. RIP, disco girl.
