They're inviting Browns season-ticket holders?

It's tough to get fans to show up and see a losing team in Cleveland in April when it's 45 degrees and either raining or snowing most nights. If they're still in first come June and July, attendance should improve again like it did early last summer.

Must get defensive a bit... They are in FIRST place... Yeah, they're in a weak division, but they've only lost a few series all year.

That said, its dissapointing their attendance. It seems Cleveland fans, for the first time in my lifetime, have finally lost their optimism. Until further notice, they are waiting for the other shoe to drop in heart-breaking fashion, and will not get their hopes up until a championship is actually won.

Bringing dogs to the park is a novel idea... There's actually a church here in LA that does the same thing to bring in more people... Its funny seeing dogs in this beautiful, historic church, sitting in the pews...

Also, Jose Lopez just hit a three-run jack to left to tie the Mariners in the bottom of the 8th at 4-4.

/WOOOOOOOOOOOH!

cleveoh: Tony Sipp in the 9th after you just tied it up? GAH!

And he proceeds to sit 'em down 1-2-3.

/To the bottom of the 9th we go...

2012-05-17 03:08:16 PM
Huh, I stand corrected. Let's win this in the bottom of the 9th so Manny doesn't get any ideas about sending him back out there!

Furbush on the mound for Seattle.

Heh, Kipinis whiffed on Furbush.

Losing?

I'm an ex-Clevelander and a diehard Tribe fan. The lack of support that fans have shown the team under Dolan's stewardship is pretty pathetic imo. I understand the complaints levelled against ownership, but lets not kid ourselves and blame the weather. We were one game from the Series in '07 and in the bottom third of the league attendance-wise.

What I meant was that they're coming off of the second half of last season where half the team ended up injured and the team collapsed. I don't know that "losing" is the right word for it.

In the 90s when we had the record sellout streak, Cleveland had two things; a consistent winning team and a growing economy. Until we can at least get one of those things back, I doubt we'll see anything near our 90s level attendance again.

Of FFS, when will Acta learn to stop putting Perez in when the game is tied?!

2012-05-17 03:37:03 PM
Oh thank you sweet Jebus...

2012-05-17 03:37:31 PM
Thanks, Perez, that wasn't too agonizing!

A Shelley Duncan sighting!

2012-05-17 03:40:19 PM
It's a sad day when Shelley Duncan is pinch-hitting for Johnny Damon.

2012-05-17 03:41:56 PM
I get that, but I don't think it excuses fans for the lack of support. I'm not asking for another sell out streak, just more than 9K a night.

I'm not even sure a consistent winner is even possible for a mid-market in the MLB now.

Even sadder that they bring about the same value

That's the second time he's blown a save against the Indians this year.

2012-05-17 04:18:01 PM
Y'know, I'm sure Eric Wedge is a decent guy, but I'll never forgive him for running Brandon Phillips out of town. It's taken years for this team to recover from that.

Hafner apparently hurt hand when beaned. Figures.

WHHOOOO HOO Tribe wins
