I kept waiting for a power up or maybe even a frost troll to appear.

"There are girls watching"

2012-05-16 09:07:54 PM
Holy shiat, that was incredible to watch. Made me dizzy as all get out, though.

2012-05-16 09:15:01 PM
that looked hella fun.
I wanna try!

2012-05-16 09:15:49 PM
beats the hell out of riding down the stairs at strands, out of control on a rigid bike.

2012-05-16 09:20:14 PM
I never had a Red Bull. Seems like they spend a lot of money on stunts and crap.

2012-05-16 09:20:33 PM
I was impressed.

2012-05-16 09:22:04 PM
So THAT'S what a meat tenderizer on my nutsack would feel like. Good to know.

2012-05-16 09:27:59 PM
That was pretty amazing.

/is it wrong that with the fark headline, I was hoping for more end over end tumbling?

God damn you.

"Mountain biker hurtles down 1,000 steps for our amusement (video)"

Oh hell yeah!

Marcelo Gutierrez strapped a camera to his helmet and took off down 1,000 steps on Montserrate

Wait, he did it on purpose? BOOOOORING

I kept tilting my head back trying to see more of the course.

/Ya, I know...

THIS. The video is actually kind of cool, but it's not terribly watchable because of the angle.

I also don't easily get motion sickness, but this one sets me off pretty quickly.

Same here, was ok til about the last minute.

There were some sections that looked to have a pretty steep drop off on the side- you probably don't want to lose control at any speed.

2012-05-16 09:53:08 PM
What I don't understand is why RedBull hasn't decided to make these events more extreme by pitting multiple racers against one another in heats. Granted, someone would almost certainly die, but I don't think that's stopped people from attempting particular feats in the past.

2012-05-16 09:59:19 PM
it's easy, until you take an arrow to the knee.

/i heard that before

2012-05-16 10:05:05 PM
Those are some astonishing brakes. The brakes of my cheap-ass Treks and Iron Horses from the mid- to late-nineties couldn't perform like that on those stairs.

2012-05-16 10:17:22 PM
I thought he was going down steps, what's with the stupid-ass ramps?

2012-05-16 10:18:19 PM
"Hold my Red Bull and watch this!"

2012-05-16 10:22:40 PM
Huh. So that's what it looks like 6" from a painful death for 5 minutes.

2012-05-16 10:31:45 PM
This Marcelo Gutierrez fellow has provided me with a surprising amount of entertainment, between all of his biking vids.

2012-05-16 10:32:35 PM
That guy is nucking futz

2012-05-16 10:49:09 PM
WTF is his bike made of? Vibranium?

2012-05-16 10:52:21 PM
Here's a cooler first person cam of a bike race.

2012-05-16 11:00:03 PM
If they did an event like this in the Olympics or even the X Games, I'd watch it. That's damn cool.

5:45 AM: Wake up, and shake off the Tequila.
5:30 AM: Vomit profusely onto the floor.
5:35 AM: Drag sorry ass to the shower and vomit and clean my chili pepper burning asshole.
5:45 AM: Complimentary breakfast of Habenero Omelet and re-fried beans.
6:00 AM Begin race.
7:00 AM End race with Champagne.
7:15 AM Sit on can ( Juan Valdez empty coffee can in alley way) and shiat until anus is distended and pray to god I haven't died.
8:00 AM: Squat over mirror and marvel at the cancerous ripened raspberry that is my now impacted sphincter.
8:15 AM: hook up with local hottie and hope to god she really is a virgin and not some whore who used alum to induce a tight twat and will give me a burning sensation in my penis that will rival, nay, overcome the burning sensation in my ass.
Following week: Get shots at hospital.
Following week: Do shots at bar with local hottie and hope to god she really is a virgin and not some whore who used alum to induce a tight twat and will give me a burning sensation in my penis that will rival, nay, overcome the burning sensation in my ass.
Rinse. Repeat.
Wipe hands on pants.

Would have been more fun if he pushed some of the people he passed off the wall.

2012-05-16 11:19:42 PM
As a kid, I used to do that on the neighbor's driveway all the time. I'm pretty sure I bumped down many more thousands of steps than him.

I know carnifex2005 already posted it, but I want to make sure people in the thread actually watch it. Seriously, South American bike races are absolutely insane.

I wonder if it is the same dude that did this:

Ya know, you don't have to go down the 6000 steps. You can just fast travel from High Hrothgar once you've discovered it. That guy is a n00b.

/done in one - nice jorb, Nadie_AZ

Did he do that with or without Red Bull beforehand?

2012-05-17 01:28:19 AM
I can only assume it was with copious amounts of Red Bull mixed with two shots of vodka. You have to be just a little drunk to ever want to try that.

2012-05-17 01:41:42 AM
I love watching helmet cam footage of downhill bike races. Also makes you appreciate just how insanely strong current bike frames and rims are.

2012-05-17 01:45:26 AM
That takes a lot of balls...

... and uses them up.

I wanna do that, maybe not quite as fast, but I do want to do it none-the-less. And I'm completely sober. Truth be told, I'm quite surprised that I've been the only one to say so.
