Did my little bit. Good luck Alan.

AngryPanda: What else could we support aside from healthcare? More usage of Beer Looter Guy in advertising?

Federal assistance in getting the fourth estate to actually write about news. No more Rick Romero articles. Gay marriage seems pretty universally accepted here on Fark. End discrimination and publicize missing non-white, non-hittible people. Reduce the FCCs influence in media such that boobies are acceptable in popular media. Cut CEO down to something sane.

I'm sure we could find more common grounds as a group.

For those of you copypasting the email address from above and getting errors...you'll need to actually type the @ symbol. Fark filters the symbol out and replaces it with a picture of the symbol so that bots can't come through and scrape email addresses from threads.

5k, I just spent that on a zero turn mower yesterday. Surley this cat can come up with some coin himself, short of standing on a corner holding a sign.

Brutal disease.
Best of luck on meeting the goal and I hope my little bit helps.

queezyweezel: Green Discharge: queezyweezel: Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: $5k? Does this guy not have any real life friends or family?

dick.

I want to hump your leg for that.

i can't tell if he's that out of touch with reality that he just assumes everyone has friends/family with enough money to help them out when they're in need, or....he's that morally devoid that he actually picks out people in need and ridicules them. either way, a real dickhead.

I dunno, I had a similar first thought, which was that I would never be in this situation because of family and friends who are generous and successful and care about me. I know that not everyone is as lucky as I am. I don't know this guy or any of you (and I'm a lowly "liter" I guess), but if a group of people on here say he needs the money, I'm gonna give some trust and mad props.

However, I have an important question. I've never paid someone direct via paypal, and they are asking me if it's a gift or other (the other categories don't apply). Can someone tell me which?

I would have gotten one that actually makes turns, but to each his own.

skybreaker: Bathia_Mapes: skybreaker: joeycolby: Sensei: skybreaker: You usually don't have to pay for medical proceedures up front........

Yeah, what's the deal with this? I can't imagine someone wouldn't have jumped on this already if he's losing his SIGHT, for Pete's sake.

Doctor office visits are usually paid up front and if he doesn't have insurance, that would be a barrier to getting to the procedure.

Then you go directly to a hospital. No health ministry will turn you away.

If you're meaning he should go to the ER, then no. Outpatient procedures aren't something you can have done in the ER.

I'm saying that most medical procedures you have to cover up front are either expirimental, unecessary or have low success rates.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

I most certainly don't work at a hospital.......

I do.

Use the Family/Friend. If you choose other, then the recipient pays the transaction fee and it's taken out of the donation. If your paypal withdraws from your checking account, there is no fee. if it's from a debit/credit card, there's a small fee.

I don't normally do this, but I sent my contribution. I don't know him, but hope everything turns out good. Hopefully one day Farkers will come to my aid if ever needed.

I manually typed it into my paypal smartphone app, so I am not getting the [nospam - @ - backwards] thing. Maybe Paypal is throttling? I dunno. I'll try again later.

Na bud. Help comes in all forms from random people. Over the years on fark one thing has proven to be true:

Farkers will help other farkers when requested. It may not be a lot from any of us, but many of us will give what we can.

Rarely -- we're a fickle bunch. We sometimes get together in small groups (groups which we know the people will be reliable). Barbecue dinners and the like.

That's how it seems, we are an unusual group of mostly decent people. Not sure why I felt compelled to help out with this today, but it just felt right.

I don't know poster or sick guy, but I have had vitrectomies in each eye, as well as countless laser procedures and injections in my left eye (with a few of each in my right). Obviously my problems go beyond retinopathy. I could share more if someone needs/wants to know, but you probably don't want to. Needles in the eye are no fun (I honestly didn't think I broke that many promises as a kid).

Dropped in a few bucks, what I can afford. I have my own ophthalmology bills to pay (also uninsured). But I'll be praying for him.

I have diabetes too. And have been a part of Fark since its early days. Send me lots of cash.
