I had to wait until my mid-20s to start having this work done, because it was expensive and time-consuming. I just had a surgical extraction three weeks ago, to remove a left lower third molar, because it finally gave up the ghost - they couldn't keep the crown on it, and the damage below the gum line made it easier to remove it than to replace it. I don't have the money for implants yet - I'm actually having to save up for the inevitable replacements.
