"I saw a police officer and he had a phone and he goes, 'is this the boy I'm supposed to take,' and the lady goes, 'yeah,'" Jacob said.

hey, the cop had a quota to fill, ya know?

2012-05-16 03:03:21 PM
Oooh, tell me they tase him first.

2012-05-16 03:03:29 PM
But locking them in the basement is still OK, right?

2012-05-16 03:04:57 PM
Well, according to cop math, he is actually 65.

Officer Smiley: I bring people in. I lock them up.
Clerk: take the 17 year old to lock up
Officer Smiley: I bring people in. I lock them up.
Sargent: was that the 17 year old or his 12 year old brother?
Officer Smiley: I bring people in. I lock them up.

I'd say 12 is old enough to try him as an adult, he knew what he was doing and did it maliciously and with ah-forethought!

/fill them jails and prisons, quick!

Read the story. The "lady" here is criminally stupid.

2012-05-16 03:09:15 PM
It's about time they started incarcerating kids

2012-05-16 03:09:29 PM
Foiled again!

2012-05-16 03:09:33 PM
Jimmy Wichard became a cop, huh?

Also: I almost believe the cop could have been confused. Every now and then I run into a 6'2" 8th grader, or a freshman with a full beard and moustache. It happens. Hormones or something.

2012-05-16 03:09:56 PM
Cops are criminals hiding behind a badge.

Was it that same kid that walked into the police station pretending he had a gun?

Did assrape occur?

Clearly, I have not read the article.

It'll never happen with those soft-on-crime, bleeding-heart, gay libtards in office.

Rick Perry would've had him executed by now.

Yes, cops are the biggest fools on the planet.

See! They really do all look the same.

"Beaver and Butthole huh? I expect you boys will be real popular in here...."

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, kiddo!

2012-05-16 03:26:27 PM
Silly prison guard.

This kid wasn't scheduled to be jailed until he turned 18.

// Probably for DWB

2012-05-16 03:26:41 PM
If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear.

2012-05-16 03:27:28 PM
Maybe there was a pedo in the the jail that one of the "good guys" owed a favor.

2012-05-16 03:28:18 PM
They should keep track of this kid and see if he follows his brother's path, or stays straight after having a taste of jail time.

Well, after reading the whole article its sounds like a whole lot of nothing. He was in there like five minutes, because they mistook him for his brother. They realized the mistake, and let him out.

FTFA: "They said, 'I'm sorry, it was just a misunderstanding,'"

To which is lawyer will respond "I'm sorry, but this is just a little wrongful incarceration law suit."

A juvenile being held in confinement without any arrest (or even an illegitimate one)... doesn't that qualify as kidnapping?

Think of it as a high tech game of 'cops and robbers'

Oops! The boy's name is Jacob.

And they locked it when they shut the locked door and locked it.

What kind of jerk-water third-world hellhole is Indiana? Here in Alaska 17-year-olds can NOT be placed in an adult jail, to hell with their 12-year-old little brothers.

CruJones: Well, after reading the whole article its sounds like a whole lot of nothing. He was in there like five minutes, because they mistook him for his brother. They realized the mistake, and let him out.

And at least 32 cops should be burned alive because of it, or something.

"He had his radio. He should have called up there to check because he should have known that a 17-year-old does not look like me," Jacob said.

OR, you could have opened your punk-mouth and said "I think you want my brother". Then, he might have checked. Of course, he also may have beat your mouthy ass.

This is the kind of lesson that teaches us that shutting up and doing as we're told isn't necessarily in our best interests.

Ed Grubermann: What kind of jerk-water third-world hellhole is Indiana? Here in Alaska 17-year-olds can NOT be placed in an adult jail, to hell with their 12-year-old little brothers.

More and more states now consider 17 as being an adult.

But I just want to know who is the idiot that can't tell the difference between a 17 year old and a 12 year old.

Cops have way too many misunderstandings. If anyone else held a child against his will the "misunderstanding" excuse would not and should not cut it.

The cop patted down (ie felt up) and locked up an innocent kid. Seems like he ought to go to prison.

Yep. At some point, which I think you can make the case we've already passed, there is no reason to teach your child to trust authority.

The kid was "locked-up" for a minute or two in a rural Indiana holding cell. It's really not a big deal.

Now you sound sensitive.

Reminds me of the old quote "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

You're welcome for that.

What I find surprising is that they did not tase and beat the boy into unconsciousness first.

It's a delicate balance, getting your kid to understand that authority isn't to be trusted simply because it's authority while still understanding that they have to pick their battles well enough to not be constantly getting zapped with a Taser.

Smoky Dragon Dish: It's really not a big deal.

To a rational adult, sure. A (albeit potentially scared) 12 year old? Notsomuch, I don't think.

Now you sound sensitive.
