The Windows ME one isn't very realistic...it didn't blue-screen when I clicked the "OK" button.

Well that was fun for 5 seconds.

/you can close them all by clicking the 'cancel' buttons
//except the one in the upper left, 'Workspace' or something

Someday this too will be obsolete, or is it already? I have no idea.

Back in my day, we didn't have no fancy screens, we just gave it the old 3 finger salute and we were grateful we had that. Not like our parents' generation who had to slide all the abacus beads back to one side.

That was surprisingly well done. I was interested enough with the collection of all the images of the boxes, but you can interact with them too. Very impressive.

Sorry subby, you're only old when you remember when a restart meant your vendor put dudes on an airplane within four hours, produced a very specific RCA, and uptimes were measured in years.

"Did you reboot it?" is a modern convention.

Page wouldn't load. Had to restart IE...

That page was much more interesting once I realized you could actually click on them and see the system shut down.

Fun, but how 'bout a terminal window with "shutdown -r now" (or "init 6" or "shutdown -y -g 0 -i 6").

IC Stars: Whar is Atari ST and Amiga?

Amiga is right there in the middle (see "Workbench"). Keep the sound on for more entertainment when you press the button though

CSB:

I got bored in computer lab in high school (circa 1999) and found the .bmp for that. A quick MS Paint job later made it "It is not safe to turn off your computer"

Apparently there was a big panic the next day about the computer system being "hacked" and taking out all of the computers in the school due to the system administrator having to personally reinstall Windows98 on each and every one of them to eradicate the "virus".

They never did catch the culprit. *ahem*

/CSB

/also, no GNOME 2 or KDE 3 love?

Funny! I love those sort of pranks.. and remember creating all kinds of similar mischief when I was in high school...

That said, since I too am missing the Gnome and KDE love, here you go:

Migrating Coconut: i liked the DOS days..... flip the switch to reboot.

Weren't you supposed to park the hard drive first? I vaguely remember there being a park command to run before flipping the switch.
