No. No I am not.

Here's the problem with prime time dramas: They always have to give you a love interest. It can't be about guys who just rob and steal and masturbate when they find some free time.

2012-05-16 12:07:38 AM
just got back after i robbed and stole from someone and then masturbated. what'd i miss?

2012-05-16 12:41:25 AM
No. I do not wish to see a soap opera with eye patches.

2012-05-16 01:40:23 AM
On a network? No.

On HBO or Showtime with a good budget and lots of tits and swearing? Yes.

2012-05-16 06:54:50 AM
I'm not awake during prime time, so I'll miss it all by default.

Ah, and a pirate-themed reality show worked out so well for CBS.

Isn't it 'YARRRRR'??

Depends, I am unable to talk to women and can't get credit cards so subscribing to porn sites is an impossibility. Also, I cannot use Google search to find porn to download or look at. Right now, I am just mashing my hands against the keyboard while screaming and hoping that something legible will come out so you understand why I can't do Google Image Search. So I guess my point is- will there be a hot woman to hold my attention? I mean the whole 30 minutes or so will there be a hot woman that I could see the equivalent or better if only I could type something into Google images or go to some porn site or, should my self-diagnosed aspergers permit visit a strip club to see a live woman who isn't my mother?

If this drama is anything like the book they used as a picture example it will be the funniest, most drama free pirate show ever made.

2012-05-16 07:54:29 AM
Pirates demand a budget that's unlikely to ever work outside HBO.

Movie? Yes. Anime? Guilty pleasure.

kmmontandon: On a network? No.

^this

On NBC no less? I'll catch the pilot on Hulu to confirm, but I'm guessing I'll move on by the end of the first act.

I'd love to see a serialized version based on Horatio Hornblower. The A&E series was good but it is a decade old and only has 8 episodes.

Carth: I'd love to see a serialized version based on Horatio Hornblower.

I wouldn't mind a sci-fi series of David Weber's Horatio Hornblower- IN SPACE Honor Harrington books.

2012-05-16 08:04:30 AM
WTF took them so long? OF COURSE everyone wants another show based on a storyline that interests absolutely nobody.

2012-05-16 08:17:25 AM
Will it have rum, buggery, and the lash? How about rape and murder?

Oh, it's on NBC? So no, it won't.

Pass.

2012-05-16 08:37:36 AM
NBC, huh?

I give it 3 episodes before it's cancelled and replaced by a Dateline/Law & Order based reality program.

Instead of more dramas they need shows like Britain Unzipped, or something similar to the old variety shows of the distant past. -The Carol Burnett Show, Laugh in, Dean Martin variety show, The Jack Benny Program- to name a few.

I'm sure it will be filled with clever pop culture witicisms

Didn't they try that with the prime time Jay Leno show? I never saw it but figured that was the idea.

Judging from the comments here, it looks like the ninjas have already started their smear campaign against this show.

2012-05-16 09:21:37 AM
This could work... combine elements of Sopranos and Oz on a boat.... only a question of casting... who would play TheRapist and Therapist?

2012-05-16 09:22:05 AM
When people ask me, as they sometimes do, whether I would rather be a pirate or a ninja, I'm forced to ask back whether they mean the romanticized versions or the historical ones. I would rather be a fictional pirate than a fictional ninja, but I would rather be a real ninja than a real pirate.

They will have a great pilot and then settle down on a farm.

Well, we now know the fark handle of Adam Friedberg.

"In an honest service there is thin commons, low wages, and hard labour. In this, plenty and satiety, pleasure and ease, liberty and power; and who would not balance creditor on this side, when all the hazard that is run for it, at worst is only a sour look or two at choking? No, a merry life and a short one shall be my motto." -Black Bart

Pirates actually had a decent life. Better than normal sailors of the period, at least - their captains knew they couldn't mistreat them without getting tossed over board.

If the show is successful, it could produce a spin-off series set in Saskatchewan.

And most of them started out as, or became Privateers and got paid by Kings/Queens to run around doing their thing. Kind of like the 18th Century version of Blackwater.

It's in Reaper's Gale as the marines are on their march to Letheras. It's the goddamned funniest thing in the world.

/of all the books, Reaper's Gale probably gets the most rereads
//probably most emotionally gripping book in the series, too

I don't know why Ninjas and Pirates just can't get along. I propose a new drama about a Ninja and Pirate both vying for the affection of a young lady.

ohhhhhhhh, and we can cover the ninjas in glitter.

Wow. And it still got a PG rating? That sounds more hard-R. I always knew there was something up with Wallace and Grommit's relationship.

Anything with wacka-ch-wacka in it is fine with me.

(stupid iPhone interface not letting me edit quotes or put multiple quotes together...)

The first few books were enjoyable. But then, yeah, she becomes nobility and blahdyblahdyblah.

I always thought the Master & Commander movie, which was apparently based on a book series I never read, would make a good TV show. Probably too expensive to produce, however.
