Hi. Thanks for documenting your voting fraud.

2012-05-15 11:33:51 PM
Why do they even bother? James O'Keefe is involved so Whatever the video claims is a lie. When one of his sting videos actually reveals the truth, I'll be shocked.

This is about poll taxes. A Florida state ID costs $25.

If you want to require state-issued photo ID at the polls, then you need to issue state photo IDs free of charge. If you want absolute proof of citizenship, then you need to support a free national ID card.

The issue is actually quite simple to solve. That is, if you're interested in actually solving the issue rather than making irrelevant political hay out of it.

At least one of the guys in the video (around the 2:00 minute mark), Zbigniew Gorzkowski, is a Naturalized U.S. citizen, and has every right to vote in U.S. elections.

It seems to me that more voting fraud has been perpetrated by conservative activists than by non-citizens.

Most states allow residents of legal standings to vote in local elections even if they are not a citizen of the United States.
They are just not allowed to vote in Federal elections.

I tried to get a greenlit on that, but since it doesn't suck Breitbart cock, it went red.

And calling what O'Keefe does 'opinion' is being generous. He's more of a 'bearing false witness' kind of guy.

Oh, and anyone serious about voter fraud won't bother getting real people to go vote. It's too damned inefficient.

Consider, using the type of fraud that the ID laws are supposed to stop (which has few, if any, real documented cases), one person could possibly vote 10 times during an election (20-30 in a big city like Houston with early voting).

Or, if your party has a strong backer in a company, say, like Diebold you can get any election result you want with just a few people outside voting locations.

Which one is the most dangerous to democracy, and which one prevents brown/black/young people from voting.

And if it's so damned easy, why is this douchebag a wanted man in New Hampshire?

I've had my drivers license longer than I have had my naturalization certificate, there is nothing on my DL that says that I am now a citizen.

This fantasy scenario requires the alien national to have some motivation to 1. register and 2. actually vote, instead of trying to remain inconspicuous if they're illegal or un-arrested if they're here with a green card.

Would anyone here in the US feel driven to try to illegally vote in, say, Japan or France if you were living there as an alien?

2012-05-16 05:47:29 AM
Call me when James O'Keefe makes a film about Citizens United/Campaign Finance, etc. = real subversion of Americans' vote & representative democracy. This is just a diversion funded by the same money really subverting the vote.

We now have two groups of people.

People who recognize that the system is broken and want to fix it using IDs and people who recognize that the system is broken and like it that way.

Oh and the "Lalala! It's coming from a source we don't like so its ALL A LIE!" responses are amusing.

So is he off probation for illegally wiretapping a government official? I wonder how his rape dildo boat is coming along. That investigation has a lot of potential.

Whenever somebody suggests a national ID card, which would take care of all of this, these same biatches go all black helicopters! and freedums! and shiat.

Fark them all anally with a trowel.

The two groups of people are A) Those who want to disenfranchise the youth vote, the minority vote and the poor vote through voter ID laws and caging schemes purely because those groups tend to vote Dem and B) Those who want to stop them.

Anyone who seriously buys into the talking point that this is about maintaining the integrity of the electoral process is either a shill or a sap.

O'Keefe is a proven shill.

Which one are you, Random?

This reminds me of the joke about the old lady who calls the police because her neighbor is walking around his house completely naked. The cop enters her room, looks out the window and says "I don't see anything." The woman answers "Stand on the bed! Stand on the bed!"

So, which one of them voted? Is this just more "voter registration fraud" = "voter fraud" hand waving?

Despite huge efforts to uncover voting fraud nothing has ever been documented, even in highly contested elections with multiple recounts. If voter fraud is such a huge problem then why can't anyone find anything but a couple of rare cases? If voter fraud is so rampant there'd be dozens of documented cases.

Instead, we have cases like this involving fraudlent voter registration:

Can you name a single election that was decided based on voter fraud?

You think their goal was to illegally register to vote, then not vote? That plan is too cunning for me to figure out.

I remember, about 5-7 years back, a Farker here claimed to work for Diebold as a programmer on their ATMs. He was annoyed at the hit to their reputation the voting machines caused. He said the company bought the voting machine software somewhere else, and guys like him weren't allowed to look at it.

Florida's Division of Elections said it is checking the citizenship of voters by comparing its databases with those of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which keeps track of whether a licensed driver is also a U.S. citizen...

And we can be sure that the H.S.M.V. has the most up to date information regarding citizenship status because...?

This looks an awful lot like the people disenfranchised in Florida because their names were similar to felons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Central_Voter_File

Moreover, since Gorkowski is a naturalized citizen who is allowed to vote, there's a defamation issue here. James O'Keefe documented his libel of an innocent person.

Can non-criminal intentional torts constitute parole violations? They should.

Can someone tell me what the motivation is to commit voter fraud? DO they give you a cookie when you vote or something?

CPennypacker: Can someone tell me what the motivation is to commit voter fraud? DO they give you a cookie when you vote or something?

In Ye Olde Tymes it was usually kegs of beer, whiskey, and food for all those voting the way the neighborhood bosses told them to.

'Course none of the clowns whining about "voter fraud" these days can actually provide any evidence of wide spread voter fraud through false identity at the polls, so these days it's more about keeping immigrants, poor folks, blacks and Hispanics from voting because they tend to vote for the party that isn't waging war against them.

What is it with Republicans and projection?

Between ID cards, caging schemes, disinformation campaigns and redistricting the GOP have been the biggest culprits in terms of cheating to win elections.

The voter fraud you speak of does not exist.

/Maybe it's hiding out somewhere with your sense of shame?

This hysteria the right has about voter fraud is amazing. There are already laws on the books, why is no one prosecuted? Either it doesn't happen, or it doesnt matter. Unless that alleged fraud is near the margin of victory, the result doesn't change.
