1. Time Bandits

I'm good with this.

Its not a film, but the DOCTOR WHO episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" is one of the best time travel stories ever
filmed.

DjangoStonereaver: Its not a film, but the DOCTOR WHO episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" is one of the best time travel stories ever

And Carey Mulligan is so stinking cute it's not even funny.

Kate and Leopold? Anyone?

2012-05-15 03:40:53 PM
Satisfied to see Time Bandits as #1.

List still needs Army of Darkness and a shout-out to La Jetée.

subby has quite the original headline.

Well if we're including TV you've got to include the DS9 episode "The Visitor"

Sophia Myles was the actress in 'The Girl in the Fireplace.' Carey Mulligan was in 'Blink.'

I'm good with this.

yup.

I'm pleased that "Time After Time" got a mention. Watching Malcolm McDowell stumble through 1979 as H. G. Wells is just brilliant.

I don't care what anyone says. I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was f*cking hilarious.

Yeah, I farked that up. She's still cute as hell though. And "Blink" had time travel too...so whatever.

The Voyage Home is my favorite.

I also enjoyed Kate and Leopold.

Shostie: I don't care what anyone says. I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was f*cking hilarious.

Seconded.

It's also funny that it's the second movie Crispin Glover unknowingly traveled through time (and ended up in a better situation because of it).

No Timerider?

"Time After Time" featured a young Mary Steenburgen.

Really? Another episode of Doctor Who featured time travel? I'm shocked!

Just giving you grief, pay me no mind....

Since we're on the subject of science fiction and time travel.

Anyone have any good recommendation on episodes in the Star Trek Universe related to the stuff?

Why isn't Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III on this list?

Especially if you want to sob like a baby. Good lord. :(

(And both Blink and Girl in the Fireplace are indeed excellent uses of time travel. I mist up every time at "For I am old, and you are still hot.")

2012-05-15 05:25:30 PM
Butterfly effect is missing but Bill and Ted's "excellent" adventure is listed.

No HG Wells the time machine?

List Fails.

No a movie but how about some love for Eureka seasons 2,4,5,6, and 8?

Shostie: I don't care what anyone says. I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was f*cking hilarious.

Totally agree. Rob Courdry was awesome.

/and some nice boobs in there too.

Time Cop? It has merit, I believe Mia Sara shows us her goods, but overall it was dumb.

2012-05-15 05:28:40 PM
Not a movie but the novel The End of Eternity, by isaac asimov is premised on a cool concept of time travel and how time works

Shostie: I don't care what anyone says. I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was f*cking hilarious.

It wasn't. Not being hipster about it either. I really, really wanted to like it, but aside from a few chuckles here and there, it sucked.

2012-05-15 05:31:41 PM
No 'Somewhere in Time' with Christopher Reeve? WTH?

2012-05-15 05:31:42 PM
FlashHarry: The Stealth Hippopotamus: 1. Time Bandits

yup.

Agreed. Also, the list is epic win by having 2 Gilliam films on it.

Because People in power are Stupid: Butterfly effect is missing but Bill and Ted's "excellent" adventure is listed.

No HG Wells the time machine?

C'mon, that movie wasn't even good.

Also no Time Crime so I'm a little angry. It is a foreign film but I can count the total number of lines of dialogue in spanish. And my extent of spanish comes from playing Uno. Was also sad no Donnie Darko.

/oh and Breakdown is practically a movie

Nvm my post, you got this

2012-05-15 05:34:20 PM
I opened the link thinking "Time Bandits better be on the list." And I got more and more angry as I went through the list... then it was a nice rush of relief to see Time Bandits at #1.

Though, I've seen 7 out of the 10 movies, which honestly is quite unusual for me on a movie list to have such a high percentage. I guess it's time to go look up Primer

2012-05-15 05:34:40 PM
Shame its not a Top 11 list.

d2oz5j6ef5tbf6.cloudfront.net

Yeah I know, its sappy, and girly as hell, but I still love it.

2012-05-15 05:34:51 PM
I always liked the original Planet of the Apes.

2012-05-15 05:34:58 PM
Saiga410: No a movie but how about some love for Eureka seasons 2,4,5,6, and 8?

Eureka is currently partway through its fifth and final season....

2012-05-15 05:35:00 PM
but seriously, list fails without 'Source Code'

www.jdmfilmreviews.com

it was done well and wasn't dumbed down...it's an extremely enjoyable movie and I hope that it stands the test of time (so to speak) as one of the better time-travel movies.

I haven't seen the 1960 movie, but the 2002 one didn't hold a candle to the novella.

sVybDy: Why isn't Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III on this list?

Hey now, that had the best fighting in any of the three movies. The Foot Clan always seemed like a bunch of punks, but the bad guys in TMNT 3 could actually throw down a little.

2012-05-15 05:39:13 PM
any kind soul got a list of them? i dont allow i09 on my comp.

2012-05-15 05:39:27 PM
Clicked just to see if it included Primer. In most timelines where it wasn't this post is a little longer and much angrier.
