I would say that everything that guy does is embarrassingly bad but he's banging Isla Fisher and I'm not.

Had this been a film by Parker and Stone I think maybe you wouldn't take the dedication as a cause to be skeptical.

Yeah. Yeah it was. Didn't see the Bruno movie but Borat is a comedy classic already.

As for him as an actor I think a lot of people underestimate him. He actually distracted from Johnny Depp for a whole 5 minutes in Sweeney Todd, he had a lovely little performance in Hugo and, admit it, he was funny in Talladega Nights.

I'm not sure this is the type of movie I'd like to see in a theater. I think I'd feel far more comfortable being able to laugh at the overt racism in private.

I saw Borat in theaters, during the movie these younger black kids walked out shaking their heads after the black baby scene. It's kinda funny, you should know what you're getting yourself into when you see his movies.

A new york jew playing a caricature of an arab man in order to portray the character as an incompetent fool? I'm not saying it isn't funny, but it definitely is racist.

Lighten up, Francis. Anyone taking SBC's characters as racism doesn't understand the concept of irony, and would be better off watching a Michael Bay flick.

Because the world shouldn't be subjected to such miserable dreck. I don't even it offensive, it just isn't funny. It completely lacks comedic value. He is the movie equivalent of Dane Cook's bowel movements.

I think you meant Bruno...that scene was classic and a highlight of the movie. Actually, though Bruno was a lesser gem than Borat, it had some moments that were PRICELESS and still manage to make me laugh out loud in ways that exceeded Borat.

The Dictator is surprising me with the good reviews - might have to matinee it.

Borat, Ali G, Bruno..they all work as short little clips on a TV show..they are short little clips. The problem with the movies is that that they're 90 minute movies with one punchline.

In my country [women, gays, jews, etc] are [opposite of your beliefs], how crazy is that?

Borat was a 90 minute SNL sketch that stopped being funny 6 minutes in...yeah, the joke was funny the first time around...sort of funny the second time around...but holy crap they are going to try the same repacked joke 20 more times?

There's a targeted Canuckian marketing campaign for this on television right now. The dictator gives a spiel that ends with "and death to the west!".
Somehow I don't think this would fly on 'merikun airwaves.

The dude is English.

He is playing a caricture of a dictator.

He has doen he same for a gay dude, a whigger rapper, an eastern European (used to throw a lot of yiddish into his Borat character), etc.

The bigger joke is how peopel relate to him, not him being whatever character he plays. Just looking at this I could see how you get that impression, but if you look at his body of work that isn't his goal.

I guess "Coming to America" was due for a remake?

The affordability of home theater has made going to the movies for a comedy or drama kinda pointless. I'll watch this on Netflix.

I like Borat, but it does work better as a sketch than as a movie, though the movie had some really funny points (Throw the Jew Down the Well, them throwing money at the cockroaches to escape from the Jewish-owned B&B).

I enjoy Baron-Cohen, though. He crafts his characters really well, and his in-character interviews are excellent. I'm actually going to pay full price to see this, which I'm not willing to do for a lot of summer films at this point.

I thought Borat was pretty funny, I thought Bruno was even better (though this likely had to do with the fact that i saw Borat after months and months of bad impersonations), but this new movie looks pretty painful. I couldn't even watch the whole trailer.
