900 infant skulls?
Sounds like drug war shiat to me.

I don't think year-old kids' skulls had firmed up enough to survive a whole lot of time in the ground, this must be a really recent thing.

The skulls, of a man and ten-year-old boy, were believed to be from Peru or another region of South America almost 900 years ago.

How come the only theories scientists are putting out there is that somebody brought the bones to Florida? Is it impossible that they ended up there on their own? Maybe the guy decided to set sail and see what else was out there.

Skulls found buried in a Florida back yard have been dated to 1200-1400 AD, authorities said today.

The skulls, of a man and ten-year-old boy, were believed to be from Peru or another region of South America almost 900 years ago.
...

However, the medical examiner also said that the skulls are not from the same time period - in fact, one of them dates to the 1970s.

The skull was probably shat out by a native when he saw a ship full of whities heading to shore.

Also, nice titties on the body-double for Madonna at the bottom of the page.

There weren't Seminoles 900 years ago. They'd be TImucuan most likely.

It's a very poorly written article. But up until the middle of the 20th century, people used to buy skulls and other human remains as tourist memorabilia. Peruvians could simply walk out into the desert and find ancient bundle burials and then sell them to gringo tourists.

By the 1970s, US Americans started to realize that keeping some guy's skull on the mantle was pretty farked up, so a lot of them threw out the stuff that their parents had collected or buried it in the yard.

That type of thing can really screw up archaeological investigations, but it happens.

Seriously unclear article should be rewritten in English, not similar to this sentence.

Bad English and I had to go back and see if there was a paragraph I missed or something. Very annoying.

So the skull that dates to the 1970's was someone who had died recently, then been dug up, and sold to gringos?

Could be. Or it could be that the author mistook the date of reburial for the date of death. It is a very poorly written article, so it's not clear what message the author is trying to convey.
