You're bound to injure something when you fall off the wagon.

2012-05-14 01:07:42 PM
Is he doing the Sarah Jessica horseface thing?

2012-05-14 01:34:03 PM
He's already missing games this season for injuries. back or hamstring or something.

Kemp was on pace for the national league triple. was.

2012-05-14 01:41:06 PM
No he isn't, he didn't even win the Kentucky Derby.

2012-05-14 01:44:49 PM
That means a lot when we're, what, a fifth of the way through the season?

2012-05-14 01:48:54 PM
IAmRight: No he isn't, he didn't even win the Kentucky Derby.

But the words "I'll Have Another" and "Josh Hamilton" do go hand in hand.

2012-05-14 01:51:08 PM
He's also on pace to become the first guy since Ted Williams to hit .400 in a season, and the Orioles & Indians are on pace to win their divisions.

Then again, it's the middle of May.

Oh come on, no use beating a dead...well, you know.

More than likely will he not only win the triple crown, but also the extremely rare quadruple crown (batting average, rbi, home runs, murders)

2012-05-14 02:01:30 PM
I'll bet he finishes:

.365 50 120

Yeah, but that was last year. Clearly Hamilton's on a mission to outdo himself in every category this year. Hide your booze and daughters. And firefighters.

I remember one year Nomar was hitting over .400 in mid July. I think George Brett was batting .400 in September one time. Neither finished that way.

My point: It's only May. MAY.

Carl Yastrzemski was the last one to do it in 1967.
In February 1971 Yaz signed a three-year contract that was reported to pay him $500,000 over the three seasons. At that time his contract was the largest in baseball history.

He is also on pace to shatter the MLB HR and RBI single season records while only playing in 148 Games (83 HR AND 204 RBI)

2012-05-14 02:28:59 PM
That depends, can the pudgy Rangers bat boy bring him his own home-made bat to continue the hot streak?

Todd Helton made a couple runs at .400 and a couple seasons back Joe Mauer did as well. i do think only left-handed or switch hitters can do that. i don't believe a hitter that hits only right-handed can achieve .400 anymore.

Hamilton beat up on some jabroni named Juventud while playing in the Dominican Winter League.

I don't care about triple crown, mvp, etc until after July 4.

waaaay to early.

2012-05-14 02:40:17 PM
In 2009 Joe Mauer was batting .407 on June 21. He missed all of April that year, finished with 523 at bats plus 76 walks, so at least 599 plate appearances.

In 2000 Todd Helton was at .400 on Aug 21.*

* Colorado home stadium.

Arlington is as much of a hitter's park as Coors.

No one is hitting .400 to end a season any time soon. Pitching is way too good these days. Yeah, he's doing great 35 games into the year, but it's a marathon, not a sprint.

That said, I'd be surprised if he didn't win the RBI title at the very minimum. That lineup is out of control. Cruz batting 7th?? That's just unfair.

The HGH should keep him running at peak proficiency until he signs the new contract

That's the only way the Orioles get into playoffs :(

I wonder if Ichiro played his whole career here if he might not have had an ultra-fluky BABIP season in there and done it. He did clear .370 one year and hit over 350 three other times.

2012-05-14 03:21:19 PM
Dude is almost a lock to spend 30 days on the DL. Even with that happening he will probably still bat over 350 drive in over 100 and end up with close to 40 home runs. Not to mention be responsible for at least one fan related death. I'm predicting that at some point a bat is going to fly out of his hand and it will obliterate a fans skull.

And I meant to say fark 'em too.

Lost Thought 00: The HGH should keep him running at peak proficiency until he signs the new contract

After all his substance abuse he is one of the most monitored players today, but for drugs and booze, I dont think he could get away with taking an advil unless it was OK'd by the doctors.

That being said, I found it ironic he is injured so much since he practices Muscular Christianity.

Didnt even know there was such a thing and I was raised baptist*, obviously there is.

*not the whole "give me all your money kind" more the do as I do and ignore it while I fark these girls who aint my wife kind, where they smoke on the church stoop, drink beer at the church socials, the really only disgusting thing they did was spit tobacco(also on the front church stoop)

JusticeandIndependence: I'll bet he finishes:

Unless you think he's going to get injured, which given his injury history is a legitimate possibility, he's going to beat the second, and demolish the third. I don't think there's any way he finishes with less than 150 rbis this season, given the rest of the lineup. I hate to extrapolate, but he's on pace for something like 85 homeruns. I think more realistically, he finishes in the 60s, which would give us a new single-season homerun champ.
As for average, who knows, it's only May. .400 is never out of the realm of possibility though. Chipper Jones was hitting .400 into mid summer a few seasons ago. Tony Gwynn was batting .393 before the strike in 1994.
Hamilton is becoming must-see TV.

Ruth didn't play against black people. That means a lot more in sports than steroids could ever do for someone.

No, it doesnt. Lets not act like black players were supermen and held down by kryptonite white men, did you ever think some of those players were getting astronomical stats because they were playing against shiat competition? Its not like jackie robinson didnt come in and instantly rewrite the record books, it took a while until Aaron broke the all time record and that was mainly because he was so consistent and had a long career.
