"We should not negotiate with the Taliban," the former Massachusetts governor contends. "We should defeat the Taliban."

Romney should review exactly how "The Surge" in Iraq actually worked.

/not that I suggest we do all that again.

Probably because they know Romney would throw their lives away on another pointless military adventure in the middle east just like the last GOP president did.

The real choice is thus:

Black Obama or White Obama.

Mitt Romney announced he would go to war with Iran. I'll be voting for Obama for that reason alone.

I don't want the US military to go back to multiple 15 month combat tours with no down time, rooting through land fills in order to up armor their inadequate vehicles with trash, forcing the reinstitution of the draft so we can fight a war with a country 4 times the size of Iraq, etc.

It's clearly a choice between war and peace. At least Mitt was honest. Too bad he's on the wrong side.

It's important to send other people to die for your sense of adventurism. I am sure that the troops will be willing to spend months away from their families and risk IEDs and constant ambushes to make folks feel tough...

That really is how the GOP handles the military, isn't it? Throw them into the grinder and then toss them away like a broken toy when they come back.

But hey, defense contractors need moar public money!

Every vet I know is voting for Obama. The fact that he has a bigger lead with vets than with the general population speaks to just how low the GOP has sunk.

Yep. I don't blame them. After how much they were put through in terms of stop loss programs and long tours, I can see why they wouldn't want to go right back cause Romney wants to seem tough.

This is unpossible! I've heard from a multitude of republican websites that Vets hate the president, that SEAL team 6 as a whole hate him, and if someone just gave the word our entire military structure would rise up and oust this usurper.

It's almost as if hearing the war drums being beaten constantly while looking to yoink veterans benefits and opportunities for education and jobs when they return has some sort of negative effect. It is sad that these once proud warriors have turned Commie/Socialists...

Here are some facts that I am aware of because of personal experience.

The Bush Administration cut VA benefits. I lost my benefits as a result.

President Obama made a campaign promise to re-instate said benefits if elected. He kept his promise.

From the linked article:

"Veterans healthcare will be exempt from federal budget cuts," he said. "President Obama has signed a 3.6 percent cost of living increase to your benefits."

President Obama continues to support Veterans as he said he would.

I would not have my VA benefits if President Obama had not re-instated priority group 8 Vets into the system.

Thank you Mr. President.

FTFA: Romney, along with his primary rivals Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, had also accused Obama of "appeasement" toward U.S. enemies - a charge that drew a sharp Obama rebuttal. "Ask Osama bin Laden and the 22 out of 30 top al-Qaeda leaders who've been taken off the field whether I engage in appeasement," the president shot back. He has reproached GOP candidates: "Now is not the time for bluster."

The Post 9/11 GI Bill, which is the first time Veterans College Benefits have increased since the Vietnam War. Before this bill, veterans were given less than 10% of the total cost of tuition in many cases.

Now they are given 100% of tuition and fees for the most expensive public school in the state, with a living expense stipend similar to their BHA.

George Bush signed this bill into law, ONLY because the Senate had enough votes to override his threatened veto.

Retired after 30 years in the U.S. Army, he has lined his study with books on war, framed battalion patches from his tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, a John Wayne poster, and an 1861 Springfield rifle from an ancestor who fought in the Civil War.

John Wayne actively avoided service in WWII.

If you want a poster of a war Hero, put Audi Murphy, Jimmy Stewart, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, or Bea Motherfarking Arthur on your wall.

Hell, get a poster of Audrey Hepburn. She carried letters for the French Resistance as a teenager.

I just don't trust Romney i'm not always thrilled with Obama either...but Romney is by far the worst candidate. Obama has held it together under exceptionally difficult circumstances. Romney has a history of smashing apart things that work just to get to the prize in the center, then letting someone else clean up the mess.

Funny, because the article shows Obama with a 7 point lead among veterans, and also has several quotes/anecdotes of pro-Obama veterans. I guess your anecdote outweights all of those, though, so thanks for setting the record straight.
