what the fark.

This doesn't even include the news that Dan Harmon and Chevy Chase may not be returning to the program.

On the bright side, it now leads into Grimm, which is good?

Why does NBC hate this show so much.

2012-05-13 05:31:09 PM
they know that its fans are rabidly loyal and will even watch it on friday nights. but it'll lose any non-fan viewers, which NBC will use to kill the show.

2012-05-13 05:39:26 PM
I don't know, maybe it's because I just started to try to watch it this season but I don't get it. Everyone seems retarded and Chevy Chase is like a senile dolt. I mean the girl is hot but it's not like she's going to get naked.

If the rest of community's fans are like me, then they rarely watch it at broadcast time anyways.

You should start watching from "Introduction to Statistics" in Season 1, which sort of sets the tone for the rest of the series. Like all sitcoms, you need to understand the characters in order to get the humor.

Also, never, ever watch the first season of "Parks and Recreation"

F*ck you all, I love Whitney Cummings and I love her show. So shut up, I have a DVR and I don't care when it airs. As long as it does.

Also I love the "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 13" or whatever. But you have to watch the first couple episodes to really appreciate it.

I catch it on Hulu. Pretty much only watch shows broadcast at their usual time when visiting my parents. I wonder if the streaming traffic is taken into account in the network renewal decisions?

Speaking of, they need to make Community watch instantly on Netflix... I only really started watching it during season 2, so I feel like I need to watch the rest (I watched the pilot and second episode) of season 1.

Or did you mean on the air?

Then it would be Community, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family and Psych.

I've not seen the show myself, but from what I read, it probably took a DVDA just to get a second season.

Well at least they know right off the bat that this is going to be the last season.

start from season 1. It starts off relatively slow, but gets very good really quickly. That said, about midway through season 2 it started getting really meta and the show started relying on more "they are paying an homage to [show/movie]. that's the joke" episodes. It still has great episodes, but it can be a bit frustrating.

but yeah, start at season 1.

2012-05-13 07:11:34 PM
also, though I like everyone involved, I'm more than a little annoyed that Up All Night is getting a slot on Thursdays. it's not a bad show, but it's not particularly noteworthy either.

OK, so I like four of your five. Therefore we have similar tastes.

So why don't you like Whitney?

I wouldn't really like the move, but I think it could work without Chevy. Harmon is a bit more iffy, but from what i understand, the lack of quality control seems to stem mostly from him.

2012-05-13 07:22:49 PM
You know what, as long as they don't screw up and try to make a big change (i.e. cutting out Harmon), it doesn't really matter. Everyone was somewhat surprised the last set of episodes aired at all so the new 13 episode season is house money anyhow. Let them put it wherever they like because we get 13 final episodes to tie up the whole series.

/it wasn't making it past this season anyhow, so just dvr it.

jaylectricity: OK, so I like four of your five. Therefore we have similar tastes.

Well, for starters, the jokes are telegraphed, and rarely that funny. The show tries to be 'edgy' but I've found most of the plots to be fairly 'safe', and I don't find a single character on the show redeemable, let alone likeable. The show lacks any real comedic energy, and never sets up punchlines more than a few seconds before it delivers them. The show is lazy, boring and just not that funny.

2012-05-13 07:29:56 PM
I like to have the NBC comedies all in a row on Thursdays, (well, we skipped Whitney after one episode, that was horrible) but have to admit we DVR them and more often watch them as and how we like, probably Friday nights, sometimes Saturdays. But we watch every one of them.

Neilsen does monitor DVR viewers, but the networks don't score that the same as live OTA viewers for advertising rate purposes, because they know live broadcasts make it harder to avoid commercials. That is, of course, unless you take ten minutes or so to set up food and snacks, then DVR-blast past the breaks Tursday night....

Community is awesome television; I don't care when it airs, I will hunt it down and watch it.

I'm still waiting to see the episode featuring the club where my friend hosts a comedy show.

And was I the only one screaming "TELL HER!!!" at the end of the last ep?

The one place I disagree is that the relationship between Whitney and her boyfriend is the exact opposite of conventional relationships. She's the one that doesn't know how to love and he's the one that still loves her for it. She assumes romance is stupid and he's too dumb to be romantic.

You make a good argument and I think it comes down to perspective.

9beers: jaylectricity: Also I love the "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 13"

Great show.

Yeah, I guessed 23 earlier today when my girlfriend texted me to tell me "Are you there, Chelsea" was cancelled.

But yeah, I love that the Dawson's Creek guy is a character playing himself.

The first two episodes were F*cked. Up.

Whitney Cummings as comedian is actually pretty farking funny. And I'm even a fan of Community. But god damn her show is so unfunny and so predictable.

Fox

their Sunday nights were gold up until about the late 90s when Simpsons and X-Files started to suck.

I guess I'd like to see you write a show. And I'm not saying that as a f*ck you, I'm saying if you predicted the jokes, then you must be pretty funny and I'd enjoy your show.

Also maybe I just don't let myself predict jokes because it really kills the comedy and makes it hard for me to enjoy stuff.

I think I watched ABC the most as a high-schooler and I laughed when I watched the NFL on CBS and they were always saying they were the #1 network.

Now I think I watch CBS way more than ABC or NBC.

But yeah, Fox is my favorite.

Easily FOX.

Married with Children
Simpsons
Hermans Head
It was the golden time for that channel.

I actually watched the FOX anniversary special a couple weeks ago.

I remember how awesome Married...With Children was. If for nothing else for a teenage boy, for teenage Christina Applegate.

I'm just glad that he FREAKING FINALLY busted out some weaponry from his Grimm Trailer™.

2012-05-13 08:05:37 PM
Who in the blue hell renewed Whitney? Who thought that show was funny? Why are they lumping it in with an actually good show? Why does NBC love mediocrity so much while looking for excuses to cancel something different?

I got it, how about an idealistic single woman living in New York working for a sleazy magazine? Or a group of friends who hang out all the time in a cafe? Or a cop show where the cops play by their own rules to solve a case? Or some insufferable "20-something" played by an actual 30-something dealing with the knowledge that her entire life is one cliche experience after another? That'll get NBC back on top. That or another singing reality show.

2012-05-13 08:11:17 PM
Although the Soup is on Fridays, couldn't Joel McHale just be like, 'Hey my show is on after this so switch to NBC.'
