What does that quote even mean?

In the very near future, his official title will be Doctor Robocop. Seriously, he's actually a highly educated historian. Acting is his hobby.

In Star Trek, most alien races are wearing some kind of prosthetic head-ridges, ear-things, whatever. When asked if he would have some, he said no, I'm not an alien - indicating his character is human. This early in the Star Trek canon, you're only going to see humans commanding human ships, as ties with anyone else are not that tight yet.

I don't know. It's pretty hip to like the Avengers (by next month, only hipsters will admit to liking that trash heap), so I don't think good comments will work.

He also did a cameo & directed last week's episode of House. The opener had a doctor w/a surgical mask on for most of the scene but Weller's eyes and voice are unmistakable. He takes off the mask and you see his face for maybe a second. Roll open credits--Directed by Peter Weller.

Well-done episode, too.

That HAD to be a reference to Buckaroo Banzai where he's also a surgeon and we can't see his face due to the mask, then later on there's always something obscuring his face for some reason, until the point when FINALLY, Buckaroo's face is revealed to be...Peter Weller :D

I've got mixed feelings about reboots. Star Trek was pretty good. I can like both the original and the new and not feel too bad about any of it. Reboots aren't always good, though. Sometimes they're flat out bad, and the sourness of the reboot can tarnish the taste of the original.

On the other hand, there are some IPs out there like Ultima that I would desperately love to see rebooted. Can you imagine Richard Garriott with 100% control of Ultima? Maybe that's not a good thing, actually.

His "Elite Squad" movies are actually amazing (especially the second one - check it out on NetFlix), so I'm hopeful about how he'll handle RoboCop.

Nah, I don't agree with that. Overall, Enterprise was better than Voyager. And I say the Mirror Universe episodes in season three are as good as anything ever done in any of the series or movies. Plus, aside from the theme song and the finale, Enterprise didn't suffer any of the all time lows like Spock's Brain or Threshold that stained the other series.

I don't agree either. In fact, I think it started out strong, unlike TNG or DS9. And yeah, the mirror universe episodes were farking awesome.

Which is why I have a problem with it. They could do anything. Any. Thing.

Instead, they do what they've done. So ...

No, hipsters are pretty clearly already on the "this movie is soooooooo much worse than the screening of my film 'Noir Black Night of a Thousand Darknesses' it's a little too avant garde for your tastes, so enjoy your flashy explosions and, ahem, WITTY dialog."
But I guess your right: if public opinion inexplicably turns on it, I'm sure the hipsters will be praising how outside the box it is and how amazing Joss Whedon's dialog sounds.
