Stupid neighbor woke me up. Go Jenson Button.

Chupacabra Sandwich: Go Jenson Button.

Well no one has ever won the Spanish Grand Prix who didn't start on the front row. Of course that's almost certainly out the window this year.

I reckon Lewis is deeply missing the ironclad leadership of Ron Dennis about right now... why the hell would his engineers tell him to stop on the frakking track after he just nailed the fastest time?

If he makes the points at all, it'll be a Mothers Day miracle.

Roman Grose jeans!

Hamilton to fark up all records with a win. Impossible ... 14000000% impossible. But better than Maldenado winning.

Not enough fuel in the car. You need to have a liter of it left in the tank so they can take a sample. And you need to make it to the pits after qualifying. Hamilton didn't have enough fuel to make it back to the pits and have that liter of gas in the tank.

So is this GP2 race like minor league F1?

Yeah. Like the nationwide series in NASCAR

More or less.

Pretty much, it's like Indy Lights is in the US.

Yeah, it's meant to feed drivers into F1. The cars all have the same tires, engine and chassis to give the drivers an equal shot.

2012-05-13 07:36:23 AM
Oh the tires are gonna be fun, the two options are soft and hard, not soft and medium or medium and hard. And apparently the soft tires last for crap this go around. Also Schumacher said the tires this season have been like driving on raw eggs.

Oh, I hope Pastor gets sideways on turn one and takes Fernando out of this race.

A five- or ten-place grid penalty would have been fine. This is absurd.

'Bernie, do you speak English?"

Thank god for my buddy's VPN streaming; I'm free from having to listening to Bob Varsha.

I don't think Bob likes Bernie. Actually I don't think anyone on the broadcast team does.

Well he broke the rule named him, his crew and engineers should have calculated the amounts better.

Hamilton got a raw deal from the stewards. He should have been demoted to 10th, not 24th. Who's the driver steward this weekend? It's not Mustache Mansell, is it? (Mansell has openly said he believes Hamilton doesn't belong in F1 and his presents sets a bad standard. i.e. he doesn't like black people.)

soj4life: his crew and engineers should have calculated the amounts better.

Also the team shouldn't have lied about it. Their excuse for stopping him was a technical problem, but apparently they could manage to come up with a technical problem that would actually require stopping on the track and their story fell apart as the day went on.

That was actually Martin Bundle during his gridwalk.

I know they've been warned about it specifically before (last year at Canada, IIRC), but to punish Hamilton worse than the teams that refused to participate in Q3 is patently ridiculous. That sends the message that it's better to just not try for the front.

Methinks its time for qualifying tires.

It turns out afterwards they had enough fuel to get back to the pits and give a litre for testing. But as this is Hamilton and not a Ferrari the book was thrown at him.

Screw Austin, speed needs more updates on the nj gp.

They might have stretched the truth talking to the media, but they 'fessed up immediately when before the stewards.

He had 1.3 liters left in the tank, he wasn't going to get four fifths of the way around the track on .3 liters of gas.

Hamilton up to 20th. Narain Karthikeyan last. No kidding.

He may get points this race.

If they're going to have a single tire supplier they need to get rid of all the tire restrictions. No starting on your qualifying tires, no limits on how many pairs of tires you get for the weekend. Also Pirelli needs to start making better tires.

2012-05-13 08:12:21 AM
So how long till Maldonado does one of his patented multi-car pile ups?

2012-05-13 08:13:30 AM
Webber on hards

Seb follows suit.

"I think he underestimated just how slow the HRT car was"

Narain Karthikayan - mobile chicane for hire.

Massa in 10th? Well that is better than 17th, he needs to push.

2012-05-13 08:21:28 AM
Some carbon just came off a car in turn one

2012-05-13 08:21:30 AM
Man, can Grossjean make it through an entire race without making contact with someone?

The point of the current tyre restrictions is threefold.

1. Control costs. Every team cuts a cheque for the same amount for every race.
2. To give more than just one optimal tactic.
3. To make the racing more exciting.

The point is to make the actions of the team and driver on the day a very important. If your car or driving style is harder on the tyres than the next driver then tough luck, the flaws in your car or driver must be fixed or you will have to work around them on your tactics.

2012-05-13 08:21:54 AM
It was almost inevitable that one of the Williams drivers was going to drive like a chucklefark.

2012-05-13 08:22:44 AM
Wait, after pit stops, ALO gained 2+ seconds?

Schumi is out, Senna is gonna go to the garage and retire

Change the deal so the teams get more tires. Which given what crap the softs apparently are is justified. As for strategy, if you let the teams pick whatever tires they want would make it interesting. I mean how would mediums do today? And if the tires are as touchy as they are, going to make picking wrong rather costly. Course in my mind having one tire supplier is dumb in the first place.

2012-05-13 08:29:56 AM
Everyone is passing Webber. May be a front wing issue.
