This was at least a top 15 list!

To be fair, Matlock and Perry Mason were legal dramas, not detective shows.

They DID, however omit "Cannon", "Barnaby Jones", and "Moonlighting".

It's true because the reboot with Dermot Mulroney as Rockford worked out so well they wanna try it with Vaughn.

There are only a handful on this list i would give the time of day, but that BBC Sherlock is pretty good.

Scoobie Doo made the list while all these honorable mentions didn't?

I'd love to redo Scoobie Doo with a touch of film noir.

We have Fred as cynical lead, Daphne as the people person, Velma as tech wizard, and Shaggy takes Scoobie Doo out to sniff for clues.

If I had comic book artist skills I'd do one to distribute on the DL.

Yeah Matlock is great, but a lawyer solving cases is kind of old hat. Now a doctor solving murders, played by Dick Van Dyke, whose name has both penis and lesbian synonyms, so you know he's funny, that's a show!

I don't consider Jessica Fletcher a detective, I consider her more of a prolific serial killer who always successfully framed someone for her crimes. Or else Cabot Cove gives St. Louis a run for its money...

Speaking of Sherlock series 2, for those of us that were impatient and found ways to watch it a few months ago, what is the consensus on the ending?

SHERLOCK SPOILERS

I think he bounced off the back of the truck full of what looked like trash bags, then rolled on to the ground once they slowed his fall, making sure to bang his head just enough to cause a nice bloody head wound. Fangirl medical examiner then pronounced him dead to help fool everyone.

END SPOILERS

Is that the general consensus, or does anyone else have any better ideas?

It's not really a detective show, but I had the excuse. Cop shows are close to detective dramas.

Hey, they opened the door with Sipowicz in TFA.

And, here's the guy Sipowicz shouldn't have beat out for the list with his best partner.
