dervish16108: Marcus Aurelius: I could give a fark about his doctor. My daughter can stay on my insurance until she's 26 and I no longer have a lifetime maximum benefit. I LOVE Obamacare. And if you don't like it, it's because your sorry ignorant ass doesn't know the first thing about it. Or you hate America. Or possibly both.

So ... "fark you, I've got mine".

Not really, as everyone else gets theirs over the next two years.

/I'm still trying to figure out if I can afford insurance now, or if I have to wait until 2014 for coverage.

It's true. While Obamacare made necessary changes to save our ridiculous medical payment system from collapse, it does nothing to help replace it with a contemporary single payer system. It actually prolongs the inevitable. We just shored up the insurance based system to enable it to limp along. The problem with a socially responsible system is implementing it. We simply can't drop our tired old model and replace it wholesale. There is way too much money tied up in the insurance racket. Most real world socialized medicine models were put in place because of the total failure of the insurance scheme. We simply cannot purposely risk that sort of disaster, nor can we announce that "Hey, Everybody from now on your health insurance policy and/or business is now worthless, but thanks for agreeing to lower pay for those articulated benefits." So we now have an even more patched up behemoth mess.
The public option was a viable way to make the transition to an efficient streamlined single payer program, as private insurance scams fail to compete with the public option they could be slowly weaned out of the whole shebang. But backwards thinking cowards were afraid to let that take that course. They cried for fix old and no new and that's just what we got.
If Democrats really wanted to prioritize a just healthcare plan we would have nominated Clinton in the '08 primary. But too much other stuff needed to get done as well so Americans elected the more overall pragmatic Obama.

Do you know who doesn't suffer from "academic detachment"? People with Messianic complexes.

Do you know who doesn't suffer from "Messianic complexes"? People with academic detachment.

Right-wing bloggers: Still spittle-flecked with rage because Dubya talked openly, and frequently, about how he believed FSM had nominated him as the one man who could save America, and was mocked for it. And because, being as dumb as a post, the word "academic" could never in any sense be applied to him.

Comedy gold.

So basically, you love Obamacare because it gives you a FREE BENEFIT. But there is a COST to that shiat, and either you'll start paying it after 2014, or we'll all go broke

And we wonder why 60% of the budget is now entitlements and handouts, and we have 15 TRILLION dollar debt.

And by the way your posts suck.

And all of that debt, every dime, is Obama's fault, specifically, it's because of health insurance reform. There is no other debt except that. I mean, Bush-era tax cuts, or additional tax cuts for the wealthy (or for that matter, the middle class) can't possibly be related. Nor can $700 billion in Pentagon spending. None of that is in any way related--it's just Obamacare.

Because until Obamacare came along, there was no federal money spent on health care. Not a single dime.

It's all Obamacare. It will destroy America. Obamacare, and Obamacare alone. Repeal it, and we can go back to the small government paradise where sick people without insurance wait until they're really sick then go to the emergency room. Because that system has worked so well.

Scrooge: I cannot afford to make idle people merry. I have been forced to support the establishments I have mentioned through taxation and God knows they cost more than they're worth. Those who are badly off must go there.
2nd Portly Gentleman: Many would rather die than go there.
Scrooge: If they'd rather die, then they had better do it and decrease the surplus population. Good night, gentlemen.

cman: RexTalionis: Anyone mention that Dr. Scheiner is unhappy with the Health Reform Act because he's a major advocate for single payer health systems?

Doesn't matter. This headline says something bad about Obama, and that is an unforgivable sin

No, but it does have a ideologically motivated stench to it.

As a person who works in the healthcare industry, I've been getting a real kick out of all these responses to Dr. Scheiner's comments about "Obamacare".

I know he's a doctor and all that, but just because he's had the opportunity to fondle the President's prostate doesn't make him an expert on health care policy. Most of the docs that I know are opposed to ANYTHING that might lower their income.

Eh, if she couldn't get her husband to make a noticeable change to healthcare in 8 years, I have my doubts that she would have made much traction in her first 4. Even if she tried, she probably would not have been able to get enough congressional support for a more radical plan.
