The only show on that list i'll miss is Breaking In, and only the 1st season, before Fox crapped things up and brought in Megan Mullaly

ToxicMunkee: The Finder wasn't the worst show, it had potential. Oh well.

I like it and look forward to it each week. Dammit.

I should cheer up; it'll probably be replaced with yet another "talent" show. Those are so great. @@

MessyDwarf: GCB made me horny but could never really bring me to climax.

what is it with tv execs wanting to say biatch and saying "B"? Are they five?

2012-05-12 01:54:31 PM

propasaurus: Digitalstrange: I had heard of 4 of them and watched 1 episode of one of them, well of 2 of them if you count the hijacking of Bones they did to try and build an audience for the Finder. I kind of liked it but I don't watch much primetime TV lately. I don't mean that in a hipster "I don't own a TV" way - my TV is on pretty much all the time but usually as background noise. I catch up on shows later by DVD or Netflix when I feel like watching them.

I probably watch more crappy sitcoms on Nick at Nite than anything.

I've been watching a lot of AntennaTV lately. The Burns & Allen Show, Jack Benny. Great stuff.

This

"Say goodnight, Gracie." "Goodnight, Gracie."

"your money or your life! (long pause) Well?" "I'm thinking, I'm thinking!"

To be honest, I did not even know this was a show. I never saw one add for it.

Because the "C" in GCB stands for 'Christian.' Can't go around calling Christian women biatches, can we?

Only ones I watched there were The River and The Firm, but I didn't see any of those going beyond a season anyways, so no shock.

Surprised about Missing, it seemed that was getting a lot of attention.

2012-05-12 02:07:08 PM
Motherfarker, I liked Alcatraz.

2012-05-12 02:11:12 PM
I liked 'A Gifted Man" but some of the episodes were meh at best. Patrick Wilson is insanely hot.

Breaking In got cancelled...again.

I like Megan Mullaly, but she wasn't right for the show. Plus, it wasn't the same without Michael Rosenbaum.

The Finder?? Damn you Fox...damn you to hell.

Occam's Disposable Razor: Three Crooked Squirrels: GoodHomer: This is really going to suck. My wife watched some of those (Ringer, Missing, Alcatraz, and The River) and they were at least somewhat tolerable when compared to the reality shows she typically watches (Dancing with the Stars, anything about weddings or wedding dresses or bridesmaids and their dresses, the Duggars, midgets, you name the piece of crap).

Now she's going to find more reality garbage to fill her evenings.

I has a sad.

God, I feel really bad for you.

Really bad. I'm just assuming she has crazy oral skills or something (excellent cook?) to make up for that amount of bullshiat. I think my wife even watching that amount of TV would bum me out.

Heh. She wasn't like this when we got married and I do all the cooking. Then we got a big flatscreen and HD cable channels like TLC and then it was all downhill from there. At least she'll watch the NFL.

The worst part is she always says, "but I only watch it because there's nothing else on," yet she's always PVRing this crap. I'm trying to get her into reading instead ("but if there's nothing on, why not turn the TV off?"), but it's a difficult slog.

Lernaeus: Good news, though - Person of Interest got renewed.

Yeah, that's one of the other three network shows I watch and it's pretty cool. Jesus comes back and kicks everyone's ass.

I'm really bummed about Awake. Really solid show with a great lead.

Let me know when the piece of crap that is "The Killing" gets killed.

Bent was a pretty good sitcom, but you knew they wanted to kill it off by the way they ran 2 eps back to back over 3 weeks.

I'll also miss Awake and Ringer.

2012-05-12 03:03:47 PM
"Awake" should have been an 8 part mini-series. After it ended, people would be clamoring for more. As an open ended series it just wanders too much. I liked it alot. As usual, the networks squandered a really cool premise by wanting it to be the next "Lost".

2012-05-12 03:09:27 PM
I tried to like Missing, but gave in after about 5 episodes

Awake and The Finder will certainly be missed

Alcatraz will mostly be missed

Harry's Law lost me after season one, but I will think about it from time to time

A Gifted man, lost me early on too, but I came back and could be ok with it

The rest, meh, ok. Either didnt watch or don't care

I'll accept the last episode of Alctraz as enough of an ending to the story, albeit something that could've used another hour so it didn't feel rushed.

But of the list it's the only, actual disappointment for me.

/ The River started strong, but quickly turned into Oren Peli's Island of Misfit Monsters.
// Not one single character was likable
/// By the end I was actively hoping they would all just die.

I loved HARRY'S LAW until they changed it and it became just another vapid David E. Kelley lawyer show. They eliminated the grogginess of the bad neighborhood she opened her office in.

Why is every TV show about doctors or lawyers or cops? Three groups of people no one wants to deal with in real life?

One of my aunts was a Pan Am stewardess and I watched Pa Am because of that. Not bad and better than GCB, but not renew worthy. I watched one episode of Secret Circle for Phoebe Tonkin but my girls liked her better on H2O. Someone a long time ago said 90% of everything is crap. Except television where it's more like 95%.

I thought the first season of Harry's Law was hilarious. Not because the jokes were funny, but because everything just came across so farking racist.

There is still hope for ye who are disappointed.

Netflix may show some interest for bringing them back. Netflix is trying to work out a deal with CBS to bring back Jericho, and that would be friggin awesome

I watched Alcatraz and Person of Interest this season. Two shows that started off pretty much the same. It's weird; Alcatraz actually seemed like the stronger show by the 3rd or 4th episode. Around mid-season though, Person of Interest found its stride and its much-needed arc. Alcatraz didn't. By the last episode, I was only watching for answers and to see Parminder Nagra again.

I think Alcatraz would have done much better if they had brought the bigger mythology to the forefront earlier in the season. It was only really there in bits and pieces until the last few episodes started to focus on it more. The majority of the first season was practically a procedural with the inmate-of-the-week storylines. I was really hoping it would get at least a second season. It definitely started to improve towards the end.

Mugato: Why is every TV show about doctors or lawyers or cops? Three groups of people no one wants to deal with in real life?

Snarky answer; because then Wardrobe just dips into the giant warehouses labelled "Scrubs", "Suits", or "Cop Uniforms".

Real answer; because all three jobs inherently deal with drama. People are always almost dying on doctor shows, cop shows are all about catching the bad guy, and trials are inherently antagonistic environments. It's, a replacement for writing a cohesive plot; you just need the "case of the week" to hang your story on.

That was from the radiation from the set being over an old nuclear test site.

I've heard of every single one of those shows. And aside from a half-season of Harry's Law (I like Kathy Bates, so what?), I have never watched a single episode of any of them. They all sounded horrible (Ringer notwithstanding).

These shows are not guilty pleasure shows. They are shows for people with no taste in entertainment. Coma patients, too.

I've seen some bad shows, but I don't think I've ever been as thoroughly pissed off at a TV show as I was during the Allen Gregory pilot.
