I can see not remembering the actual accident, but how do you not realize your car is demolished until you get to work? I guess this is something I can talk to Jessica about on our date.

Wait...

So, lady gets up, leaves home, gets in car accident, doesnt rememver it, goes to work, goes to hospital, gets treated for a lot of injuries, and then makes it home....but there's glass around the home? Did this car accident happen in some Stephen King alternate dimension short story? Did the glass transport itself to their house? Did they take the car home with them? I...I just...I'm at a loss.

Yep. Saw the headline and thought "Newfoundland". They're not kidding about moose-car incidents there.

Welcome to PTSDland.

Trauma can cause this reaction and very commonly does.
Especially common in the mildly OC types("well organized").
Effect is usually short term, but can be forever.
Fun part is when trauma memories only surface in dreams.

If the event just does not fit in your head, your head tries to make it just go away.
Fun times

I shot a moose, once. I was hunting up-state New York, and I shot a moose, and I strap him on to the fender of my car, and I'm driving home along the west side highway, but what I didn't realize was, that the bullet did not penetrate the moose. It just creased the scalp, knocking him unconscious. And I'm driving through the Holland tunnel - the moose woke up. So I'm driving with a live moose on my fender. The moose is signaling for a turn, y'know. There's a law in New York state against driving with a conscious moose on your fender, tuesday, thursday and saturday. And I'm very panicky, and then it hits me: some friends of mine is having a costume party. I'll go, I'll take the moose, I'll ditch him at the party. It wouldn't be my responsibillity.

So I drive up to the party and I knock on the door. The moose is next to me. My host comes to the door. I say "Hello. You know the Solomons". We enter. The moose mingles. Did very well. Scored. Two guys were trying to sell him insurance for an hour and a half. Twelve o'clock comes - they give out prices for the best costume of the night. First price goes to the Burcowiches, a maried couple dressed as a moose. The moose comes in second. The moose is furious. He and the Burcowiches lock antlers in the living room. They knock each other unconscious. Now, I figured, is my chance. I grab the moose, strap him onto my fender, and shoot back to the roads, but - I got the Burcowiches. So I'm driving along with two jewish people on my fender, and there's a law in New York State ... tuesdays, thursdays and especially saturday.

The following morning the Burcowiches wake up in the woods, in a moose suit. Mr. Burcowich is shot, stuffed and mounted - at the New York Athletic Club, and the joke is on them, because it's restricted.

"I'd like to know if I was driving safely."

judging from the pictures i can safely say: NO

A moose certainly could have caused a massive amount of damage, but... there's no mention of any fur found on the car or any other evidence to show she hit one.

You would think that tracing back her usual path to work might help find a bunch of debris and a mangled item somewhere.

Cocaine is a helluva drug

Oops, my bad. The moose is mentioned.

I wonder if they made moose burgers out of it. Yum.

The really sad part is that she's such an organized person - I'm going out on a limb to say mildly OCD - that this concussion is probably going to completely wreck her self-worth until she comes to grips with it. Unfortunately, she's probably going to be absent minded and easily sidetracked for a long time. Concussions suck.

Glass bits get EVERYWHERE, particularly in your hair, and fall off a little at a time. You'll get a scalp itch, absently rub it, and boom, glass starts falling out, or sometimes even just lying back on the couch or turning your head will dislodge some. Worse is if the skin starts healing over it, then it itches like hell and takes a lot of scratching to work back out.

Isn't there some sort of medical condition that explains why somebody in that situation would continue driving as if nothing happened? I remember reading an article posted on Fark of something similar happening to some guy and the Drs. were able to discover the condition because of the fact he didn't even remember the accident and kept on driving.

My guess would be that it was a combination of shock and the head injury she received in the crash that caused the memory loss.

Of course, that's just my opinion and shouldn't be taken as medical facts.

Thanks. While I know the proper spelling of 'møøse' I was too lazy to look up the characters. Thank the admins for that change.
