Whedon is going to have farkoff money now, maybe he'll use some of it to make a TV movie or something.

All of this reminds me I haven't yanked it to Summer Glau in a while.

Hold on. They are making another Percy Jackson movie? Why? The first one was terrible and raped Rick Riordan's book to pieces. Haha, yeah, I just admitted to reading a young adult series.

Even if he wanted to (and he doesn't), the cast has moved on and most of them are have other obligations that would prevent them from making a return.

He could on the other hand, create something new, but in the same universe.

I liked those books a lot, and I'm old and shiat! Movie was pretty meh. Looks like Anthony Head is replacing Pierce Brosnan as Chiron in the next movie.

Chuck's over. They were listing what they are currently in.

I was wondering about that. List seems more like 'here are two or three members who are banking and here are the rest who are doing nothing'. I wouldn't call one season of work in 10 years success.

As for the show: I love the space opera western setting. I like it, and would happily watch something similar if it wasn't mind numbingly bad.

IMO it has more to do with having a good writers and good casting to pick out the right actors for the roles. And producers who are willing to take a chance on relative unknowns.

/Alan Tudyk should be getting more work.

I saw this awesomely funny movie where he was one of the stars.

"Tucker and Dale vs Evil"

Hilarious slasher-flick send-up, where he plays a hillbilly.

Gold.

Just watched all of Firefly, and then Serenity, in February. A geek-chick at work was talking it up right before Christmas. I thought it was pretty good, and the limited-budget special effects were charming. Like when I first saw reruns of the original Star Trek as a young'un.

Moved on to see all of Dollhouse last month (I love Netflix).

So, since I never even knew these were out at the time they were freshly-minted, do I still get to say "I told you so"?

/Probably not, but I'm glad all you other people slogged through the years of Whedon turmoil for my instant gratification.

I didn't know anything about the movie other than the fact that Tudyk was in it, and I was completely expecting it to be some crappy camper-slasher flick until about 15 minutes in.

Loved every minute of it, and howled with laughter at some of the more disgusting gags,

Yup, there's a whole bunch of planets out there, there's got to be another group of people whose lives would make for interesting story telling. Plus it would allow the Firefly cast members to pop in for an episode or two as their schedules allow.

What all of you just said, I agree with.

But I would hope that if it's done, it's played clean. If it cheapens the original's charms, I don't want it to happen.

I think part of what made Firefly so awesome was they had only a short run, so they didn't end up having to use strange or ill fitting plot ideas. Kinda like how Betty Page didn't stay in the public eye after she retired, or Marilyn Monroe's death, we never got to see them get old and stale, so they stayed good looking in people's minds.

/Yes, I compared Firefly to mid-20th century sex symbols.

I agree. The universe he built still has potential. He actually did a fairly good job of wrapping up the crew with Serenity. Between Season 1 and the movie he pretty much handled the Reavers and the River Tam arcs nicely. About the only two open things are what exactly Book was before become a Shepard (and I think I have a pretty good idea what he was) and if Mal and the hooker ever settle down together. I'd argue any further movies or the like about the crew of Firefly would feel lackluster or just plain be bad if they did something like "Oh hey Serenity wasn't canon, Book and the pilot are alive again!".

I could totally go for a movie from the Alliance's perspective though. Or a couple movies on the civil war.

I've made peace with it never coming back, and it's okay because I can actually watch the whole damn thing in a week if I so desire.

I really deeply liked Firefly, and Jewel Staite was so hot on that show that it was like six episodes before I realized there were other attractive women in the cast.

That said, I hated Serenity, despite some good moments, to the point where I'm glad the show didn't come back.

/no, not just because of that thing
