I don't think of I've ever heard of it. But then, when I think back on all the stuff I learned in high school, it's a wonder I can think at all.

madgonad: Fubini: I'm guessing their engineers wanted to see what they could do if they got rid of color sensing and just tried to make the best possible black and white sensor. Someone thought it might be marketable and wanted to see if they could sell it as a product.

I have no real idea though, but I do work near some people who do image sensor research.

I looked it up. It is actually a Kodak sensor. I am starting to think that they just adapted a high-speed sensor, but didn't add the cool electronics to allow rapid shots. I mean, hell, it is a rangefinder. No mirrors/prisms. They could have stupid-high fps and better electronics would allow rapid bursts. Imagine the autobracketing it could do! But no. It is just a hipster camera for Eurotrash - not a useful tool.

Autobracketing? Just meter properly. Whats next? Autofocus? Kids these days, I swear....

It's pretty obscure, you've probably never heard of it.

Tri-x is for heretics.

Unfortunately, Fartbama has apparently taken this away from us along with our incandescent light bulbs.

Kodak Technical Pan FTW.

Slight threadjack, but I still wish Nikon would give us one of these (with color) for about $2500-ish
Just one of their old rangefinders with a d700 chip in it. Plz?

Next you're going to tell me I don't need image stabilization, I just need a good tripod... ;)

Some Bass Playing Guy: I'd love to have a digital rangefinder, not not at Leica prices.

(1) Black is not a color. It is the absence of color (light).
(2) White is not "a" color. It is all colors.

Cameras can shoot in gray-scale or RGB.

So cameras only shoot in one color or 3.

Possibly four if there's a CYMK sensor out there, but I'm pretty sure CYMK is for ink not light..

Correct. Shooting in CMYK would not work.

I always know this because I paint. Same with the no color/all color being reversed.

It's one of those things I know from working on boardroom projectors and such, as well as printers. Printers are always CYMK, and projectors are always RGB.

I can't tell you why other then "Something about additive vs subtractive color".

I presume that Leica and Hasselblad cameras are actually valuable to some serious professionals. I mean, the cameras cost more than anything 95% of professional camera men would use because most of the pros are photojournalists and wedding photographers.

Maybe if I did come into some large amount of money I'd get into the high end Canon stuff. But there are perfectly legal pranks I could pull with $20k.

madgonad: this sensor was designed to allow greater sensitivity - as high as 10,000!

100-51200 ISO standard, up to 204800 enhanced
