(Talking Points Memo)   Governor Scott Walker caught on video telling a billionaire benefactor how he plans to crush the unions and turn Wisconsin into a right-to-work state. Not that billionaire. Or that one. Another one   (2012.talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 519

Let's see if they count the recall votes properly, like George Bush did.

2012-05-11 08:54:42 AM
Waukesha county is going to need to be under UN supervision for this one. Of course that won't happen and the same shenanigans will occur, and the court challenges will be overturned by Prosser and the whole debacle will continue.

So far the ROI has been highly positive. I can't see any billionaire running dog looking at this and deciding it has too much of a downside.

What an absolute stooge for the plutocracy! I hope he gets trounced so thoroughly in the recall that even Fox News won't give him his own show afterwards.

2012-05-11 09:42:53 AM
I really couldn't understand what he was saying. The foreskin kept slipping over his head, muffling his voice.

He's still going to win. This will not be a clean election.

I don't think you have to worry about him getting a TV show, he only has a face for radio.

Having the right to work? Sounds awful.

I say we force people to join unions instead. Honest, selfless unions, with no desire to rob taxpayers blind at all.

oh I expect the Wisconsin GOP to cheat like motherfarkers, then to have Prosser rubber stamp the results. 2 weeks after the election is over, we'll find video evidence of Walker personally stuffing ballot boxes while stomping on live kittens and having sex with a dead male prostitute and the GOP will shrug its shoulders and mumble something about all results being final.

How does anyone who isn't a billionaire support that piece of shiat?

2012-05-11 09:47:08 AM
Good. Why anyone would want to be forced into a union is beyond me. You do realize it doesn't ban unions, right?

What Walker is doing is what all politicians are doing, except Walker is dumber and gives less of a fark than the others.

I live in Waukesha. I grew up here. The teachers in WI need to pay 'their fair share'. And shame on Milwaukee county teacher's union who voted for LESS teachers instead of LESS benefits for themselves.

Unions, GTFO.

Okay, so then what do we do? The only answer the Democrats and unions will accept is "try harder next time!"

Nothing like making your entire existence revolve around eliminating ALL unions in the state where unionization was born.

I'm not worried. The Marxists and the fascists can fight it out in the streets and it won't make any difference to the rest of us.

Unions have never been known for shady tactics.

So, what is wrong with a state going for a right to work scenario? If you want to be in a union fine; but if I choose to not be in the union I should be able to make that choice freely. Closed shops are for the birds.

I have been in a union a couple of times but ultimately left because there was no real personal growth room. Income was fixed by contract agreement, layoffs / promotions were by seniority and not ability, giving a schmuck in a suit part of my pay irked me, and the list goes on. I prefer to control my own destiny and I did far better in my career aspirations after I began avoiding union jobs.

Really - I kind of except a big voter showing of dead Wisconsin liberals.

Every Vote Counts - as long as it's a right left vote.

Considering Walker's "fixes" are in and done their damage, I can't imagine the otherwise completely rational donors (they may be colossal, plutocratic, assholes, but they're still incredibly shrewd and rational) behind him at this point are going to continue supporting him considering the toxicity of his name. He wasn't much more than a political suicide bomber (whether he realized it or not) before, and that hasn't changed.

A $510,000 donation. I just do not understand how this country, where the median income is less than 1/10 that amount, can continue to not see how patently absurd it is that a very tiny little slice of the nation continues to dominate the direction of the country for everyone else.

I just can't reconcile, in my head, some guy who has to get up every morning at 6:00 AM and slug down to his factory job for a paycheck that's a tenth what this woman handed away in one check to influence the election, then goes to the polls on his way home to vote for the guy who got that money. How in the world can you look at a donation like that and not say "wow, that person clearly is not going to have my interests at heart. He's clearly going to be on the sides of people who are nothing like me, don't share any of my concerns or troubles, and who is going to desire policies that can in no way benefit me".

I just do not get it.... I know "racism" is a convenient response, and that's surely a small part of it, but it just does not explain the level of support the republicans continue to enjoy despite being obviously antithetical to even the most basic interests of a good 95% of this nation....

LineNoise: Why anyone would want to be forced into a union is beyond me.

What's the usual right-wing line on things like this? Oh, right.... you don't have to work there, if you don't like that your colleagues voted to join the union in a free election you had every opportunity to participate in, go work somewhere else.

Question is, do you hate democracy, or do you just not know what you're talking about?

2012-05-11 09:54:07 AM
I'd kill to live in a right to work state.

I strongly believe that all states will be "right to work" states within another 10 or 15 years.
