I used to go the the Origins gaming con in Columbus.

Other than that, it's drive-through country.

Gotta wonder how much of that "tourism" money is people grabbing a room for the night while driving the I-80 to somewhere interesting.

Though I have to say the small towns in Ohio are pretty charming, or at least I thought so while driving through them ivoluntarily the day I had to drive down a snowy on ramp backwards to get off I-80 after being stuck without moving for 8 hours (two tactor trailers had rammed into each other where I-80 and I-77 cross and the heavy snow was keeping cops from clearing the wreck so the whole interstate was shut down for 18-hours, that Nat guard had to come rescue the ones not crazy enough to follow my example), I figured to follow old US 40 to my destination, but a truck had destroyed a bridge on it so it was shut down too, so we were stuck getting a good local atlas and plotting our way across (pre GPS days) Ohio using tiny state roads and the mainstreets of towns. The towns looked nice enough that someday when I wasn't driving white knuckled through a blizzard trying to get to KS in time for Christmas, I thought I might want to stop back.

Ohio is awesome. Don't believe everything you read on TFD.

They do have a couple of amusement parks that are worthwhile and the Rock and Roll HoF (which I will never see because it sucks)...otherwise Ohio is a cesspool.

Nelson Ledges and indians games are the only draws for me

When considering Law schools Case Western in Cleveland was on my short list. After visiting Case, and more specifically Cleveland, for a day my short list got one shorter. All I could think after the first six hours was "Drew Carey is a farking liar! Cleveland does NOT rock"

I once drove through Ohio with my dog. Just the way things worked out, I pulled over twice in the state at rest areas. Both times, my dog refused to poop. That about sums it up.

They probably count northern Kentucky residents going to Kings Island. Big deal :-)

The Air Force Museum in Dayton is awesome. I still wish they'd snagged a shuttle, but there's still lots of incredible exhibits from the beginnings of aviation to modern planes.

I went to Cleveland for a couple Browns games (buddy lived there) back in the 90's. Had fun in the area called The Flats which is pretty much a bar area. We had a great time but no farking way I'd live there. Most of Cleveland just looks pretty depressing.

I was in the southern part of the state on my way from Missouri to Connecticut when I got a little sleepy. I found a place for about $35 a night right across from a drive-through bbq restaurant (with actual slow and smokey pork) and a waffle house. I had no personal problem with Ohio.

My husband finally made me go last summer, and I have to admit it was pretty cool even for someone who has no interest in the military.

I actually really like living in Ohio, but I'm not sure I would say there was anything worth making a trip for. We do have a pretty awesome zoo in Columbus, Cedar Point if you're into amusement parks, and Lake Erie has a lot of fishing and wine. Personally, I like to vacation at the beach which we do not have.

Seriously? Even the Brady Bunch went to King's Island.

And while The Beach water park says they're not opening this, there's still Coco Key and Coney Island and King's Island expanded their water park.

And if you come to Cincinnati, there's acres of parks here, The Natural History Museum in Union Terminal, Reds Games all summer long and they're in third place this year and there's always something going on on Fountain Square, even if it was stolen from the people of Cincinnati by 3CDC so people can't protest there.

And if you get really bored after all that, you can slip across the river to Newport on the Levy.

The tourism industry includes intrastate travel. Do you know how much money the Buckeyes' football games generate? Sure, it might not be a destination, but there are a lot of cool things in Ohio. The Toledo Art Museum, believe it or not, is awesome.

Glad I got out of there a year ago. Back to my home state of MA and loving it. Ohio State was a nice place to go for college, but once I left, I realized how lame the rest of the state was.

Moved to Cincinnati after being invited by friends. Lived six months in an art colony/ workshop with fire performers, bellydancers, etc.- constant entertainment. Moved above an art gallery, worked in a wild dance club. Found love; she owns a good 3-story building that was built 1880- just us and 2 cats. Locally, there's King's Island amusement park, which is good as any. Cincinnati Zoo, Museum w/ IMAX, a killer Farmers' Market, the list goes on.
Before moving I was warned online that I'd "die of boredom". A good friend warned of Cincinnati's "flypaper effect". I haven't been bored, and won't mind staying. Glad I don't live in the suburbs, which truly are boring.

CSB: About 12 years ago a buddy and I did a three day/two night motorcycle trip wandering around the northern tier and NW PA. We planned on making Erie our night two stop. We figured it being a large(ish) lake town, there would be some cool things to do. When we found a motel in Erie, we asked the (older) owner what people did for fun in Erie. She said "well, most of the younger people leave and go to Ohio." We were like "really?" thinking she's got to be wrong. Then we stopped for gas and there was a young girl working as a cashier. We asked her the same question. She said "oh, we all go to Ohio." Then we stopped to eat and asked the (maybe) college age waitress the same question. She said "well there is *something* *something* pier where there's a few bars and some of the college kids hang out there, but for the most part people go to Ohio."

Same here, and I still live in the same county as Columbus. Too much space devoted to pointless "new" games. Srsly, if all you want is the thrill of beating or competing with an opponent, just flip a coin.

/betting the announcement in TFA is part of some administrator's plan to get a bigger budget. Which will probably work.

I know it's been mentioned but fishing on Lake Eerie and Cedar Point make a nice little vacation. Nice and affordable. Good corn at the right time of year. Havn't been there in 20 or so years but Ohio is not that bad of a place to visit.

Wow. "Acres of parks?" Just booked my plane ticket to Cincinnati, as I don't think I've seen that in any of the other states.
