Tim Tebow is a damn fine halfback.

I'd love to hear Tebow say, "I said, no more shines. Maybe you didn't hear about it, you've been away a long time. They didn't go up there and tell you. I don't shine shoes anymore."

That's right, Sanchez. First, Tebow will be the backup quarterback, and then he'll be the quarterback. Kind of the same as you. First, you'll be the Jets quarterback, and then, by week three, you'll be doing plenty of other stuff.

And when Tebow's cherry is finally popped he's gonna say, "I didn't want to get blood on your floor."

You're right. Scumbag Jets fans probably wouldn't boo Sanchez off the field after his first bad game.

Have you seen any Tebow thread on this site?

The dude is happy, rich, young, has a kickass job, good looking, has women both famous and non-famous fawning over him, and has his entire life and career ahead of him.

Now contrast that with a huge portion of the userbase of this site, who are the exact opposite of everything I just listed. It's obviously jealousy.

Seriously think about famous men who meet most of if not all of those things I just listed, and then think about the reaction of the people on this site. It's too funny sometimes.

You just described pretty much every single starting player in NFL. Some certainly aren't nearly as handsome as Tebow, but you don't need to be if you're on the TV on Sundays and make millions a year; the women come with that.

Seriously, I'd rather be Matt f*cking Schaub just as much as Tim Tebow.

Sorry yall, these are a good portion of the reasons the dude is so hated on this site. But I can name some more, which are all equally bullshiat.

Let's see: Too much coverage on TV. That's actually the fault of the complainer more than anything. It was 2012 the last time I checked, if you're getting news or highlights from ESPN that's your own damn fault. You can get the exact information online in what, 1/6th of the time? 1/10th? And ya don't even have to hear about Tim unless it's your team the Broncos (now the Jets) just played.

He's gay. *insert massive eyeroll here.* This one is how you know you're dealing with a dumb twat.

OMG he can't play. Dude has what, 16 NFL starts? Compare the first 16 starts of your favorite QB, either current or all time. Had they led their team to a playoff win by that time? I mean regular season stats look nice on paper, but if it doesn't translate to post season success, who cares?

He's a virgin This one is pretty much like the gay thing. Worry about your own genitals, and no one else's. Well maybe your minor children too, but even then after a certain age there isn't shiat you can do about it. If more people minded their own business about who is farking whom as an adult, we'd all be in a better place.

His charity work Yeah believe it or not, I've heard biatching on here about this. I don't get it, I just shrug and call them jealous cause they don't do shiat for anyone else.

His religion Oh come on, the militant atheists on this site are WAY more vocal about their hate of religion/religious people than Tebow is. Have you ever heard the man dog non-believers, EVER? Hell no, he just likes to talk about god. While I don't personally believe, I don't hate on those who do.

Focus on the Family Yeah this one ties in to the religion one. He did one commercial for them, and didn't it just basically say "Hey I'm glad I wasn't aborted". Well I'm not religious, but I'm glad I wasn't aborted. Aren't you glad you weren't aborted, regardless of your position on the issue?

He should be a fullback This is another dumbass one. So a guy who played the QB position since he started playing football should switch to a running back because a bunch of armchair quarterbacks/coaches think he should play better? After 16 starts? With no mini camps or preseason workouts?

What else? Oh and Steelers fans, cause they can't believe they gave up what, two 50 yard passes, a couple of 30 yard passes and then an 80 yard pass and run to lose the first OT game of the new rules? That shiat is just funny.

I don't think many people on Fark would actually enjoy Tebow's life if they were to live it for a week or so. Also, since most people can not really fathom what being a professional athlete entails, I don't know if pure jealously is behind all the hate expressed here. It can be fun hating on someone for just "hatings" sake, and Tebow makes an easy target. Fark is like a roast that never ends.

Why is it that whenever a Tebow ponies thread comes up, any scrutiny of Timmeh's college-level football skills must be preceded by the inevitable disclaimers and apologies?

I think Timmeh is a nice guy, but he can't throw a football in less than 5 seconds.

I have nothing against Timmeh's attention whoring religion, but his skill level has not progressed beyond his rookie season.

Etc, etc, etc.

What's wrong with just saying, "Timmeh can't throw the ball at the NFL level."??? Without first reiterating what a nice kid he is and what a good Christian he is and blah, blah, blah.

On the same note, why hate before the guy had a chance to start a full season's worth of NFL games? Because no one ever improves at their craft right? It's funny how these bullshiat threads are always filled with people like you, saying he CAN'T, he WON'T, he NEVER WILL. Then he does it but since all you wanna do it hate, you just move the goalposts.

First it was that he can't win, then he won. Then it was he can't beat a winning team, then he beat a winning team. Then it was he can't win in the playoffs, and then he won in the playoffs. I've never seen someone with 17 NFL starts take so much shiat over nothing.

Speaking of moving the goalposts.

Do I really have to explain the difference between a criticism and "hate"? Do I really have to post a disclaimer? Do I have to post an apology before I can participate in a ponies thread? Where can I get permission to post in a ponies thread?

Tell me what I have to do to be good enough to post in this thread.

And yet for all your complaining about Tebow starting last season, they finished with their first playoff win since 2005. Do you seriously think a 36 year old who just came off 4 neck surgeries was worth a 13 million dollar per year upgrade over him? Think about the amount of players the Broncos could have signed for that per season. And now Caleb Hanie is the damn backup. You know, the guy who has never won a game as a starter.

Most of Tebow's wins (albeit fun) were downright never-happen-again-in-a-decade improbable to laughably lucky. Denver actually backed into the playoffs and needed help because Tebow lost to, wait for it, KYLE ORTON and a crappy Chiefs team at home on the last game of the season. Not to mention getting crushed by Buffalo and New England twice. 47% passing completion QBs tend to do that. Extrapolate that trend going into the upcoming season and Denver is looking at 4-12 with that schedule. Not good enough.

Do you seriously think a 36 year old who just came off 4 neck surgeries was worth a 13 million dollar per year upgrade over him?

It's Peyton Manning. And he has some juice left in the tank. Tebow is not, nor will ever be, in his league. I think that's pretty much a given.

Think about the amount of players the Broncos could have signed for that per season.

Meaningless without a solid QB. Like Peyton Manning.

Wadded Beef: It's Peyton Manning. And he has some juice left in the tank. Tebow is not, nor will ever be, in his league. I think that's pretty much a given.

Eh, there are plenty of QBs in the league that aren't Peyton Manning. There are also a few in the league that have won multiple SBs in the time he's played too. But Elway and his ego decided to cut one of the most prolific endorsement/charitable players in the entire sports world in a long time, when he could have learned a lot about the position from Manning.

Wadded Beef: Irrelevant. We have Peyton Manning. Backups get Sundays off.

It's a kind of arrogant attitude to take. Starters get hurt all the time, and they didn't just come off being out a year. Elway must share your opinion though, cause he sure as hell didn't go get any receivers. In fact, Royal is gone now too. You both better hope Manning is Superman, and that he doesn't run into Tom Brady and the Pats, cause we know how that works out.

Truthfully, PM is a win/win for me. If he wins, then great I'll get to see my team do something more than just win one game in the playoffs since I've been a fan. If he goes down soon and the Broncos have to rely on Hanie/the 6 foot 7 kid they drafted/whatever scrub is in FA, then hopefully Elway gets run out of town.

And ya wanna know what the worst part is? Ya know how the knock on Tebow is his completion percentage? Elway somehow managed to go get a guy who is WORSE at completing passes. And who hasn't ever won a game. You know how you probably think not getting any receivers wasn't a big deal cause Manning can make a star out of anyone? If he goes down, Hanie has less to work with than Tebow did last season.

At least the D will be good, they added another CB this week. I guess they're prepping for Champ to step down soon. It's the one thing I am excited about. Looking at the CBs on the team, they can sub without worry, and in some sets where they toss 3 CBs out there, the Broncos have it covered.

bel4sucks:

(Cleaning things up so as not to repost walls of text)

Initially I had you pegged as a Tebow fan and not so much a Bronco fan (there are thousands of them here) so mea culpa there. I don't mean to diss Hanie or Tebow, but in this league there are very few elite QBs capable of making an organization formidable practically overnight and PM is one of them. You can't NOT jump at that chance to grab him.

I submit the logical fallout is they can't coexist and Tebow has to move. Not because of any personal issues, but if PM does go down you need a backup that runs the same offense lest the team would suffer whiplash having to go from one style of offense to the other during a game and you can't prepare using both each week. And there's of course the PR headache from fans that would come with both on the same team.

And, regarding backups, and the 800-pound gorilla in the room is once your star QB goes down, your team gets average quickly. For every Matt Flynn coming in and setting passing records or any story of the backup excelling, 99% of the rest of the league turns into Painter and the Colts (well, probably not as drastic but you get my point). If the Steelers lose Roesthlisberger then they're playing .500 football. Same with the Giants and I doubt Belichick could reproduce Tom Brady with the guy in waiting at a moment's notice. Which is really what I mean by the backup being irrelevant.

I too am excited about the D. Von Miller is a monster and I love the Von-Dumerville pass-rush tandem. I'm curious how the kid from Cincinnati is going to work out as scouts cocked their eyebrows at that one, but it's all subjective. He may be undersized but that's what freeweights and Ben & Jerry's is for.

Concerns: I'm still hoping Moore can pick up the safety position as he was lost without a map last year. Hope springs eternal.

a) The Patriots went 11-5 with a guy that hadn't played a game since high school when Brady went down.
b) The Giants are approximately a .500 team WITH Manning. They only look good when they make the playoffs.
c) The Steelers went 3-1 when Roethlisberger was suspended to start a season.

All exceptions and historically not the norm. I'm all-in on a QB whose skillsets made a franchise formidable playoff contenders and 2-14 without him.
