Isn't there a federal law which requires American Citzens who recieve titles of nobility to forfeit them? Or did it never get ratified.

I think Sir William Cosby does have a nice ring to it. If it's on the ballot in November, I'd vote for it.

Sir Patton Oswalt?

Sir Paul F. Tompkins?

I firmly believe the rich and privileged should have further honors heaped upon them to separate them from the unwashed masses. Perhaps they should be given further tax breaks too. While we're at it, corporations are people, and it would naturally follow that we should knight Goldman Sachs.

If it came with a nice stipend, a few acres of land with a hold/castle, I'd sure as hell jump at it.

For the record:
Yes
Yes
No
No
Yes
Yes
No (as much as I like Jon Stewart, I don't see why England would care to knight him. He's purely a domestic product)
No
Yes
Yes
Yes
No
No

and I second Sir Morgan Freeman and would add Sir Samuel L. "muthafarking" Jackson and Sir Clinton Eastwood, Jr.

I think you just wont get recognized formally by the noble title

I second that one. Celebrities, some of them, are for my entertainment.... after that you can put them back in their box.

What about Stephen Colbert? This sounds exactly like the type of thing that would appear on his show.

But otherwise, surely they can come up with a list of people who aren't all entertainers?

I'm in if you include no politicians. I'm sick of hearing how they "give their lives to serving the community". No, they get paid for it and regularly raise their salaries while minimum wage stays the same

Knight anyone from Fox News because I want to see if they would be ballsy enough to turn down a knighthood from a "European Socialist Country" or if they would all of a sudden fall in love with Europe/U.K.

if amassing godlike amounts of power and using it to help your bestest buddies get amazingly wealthy is not serving the community then I don't know what is.

What a stupid ass question. Jesus H.W. Christ.

Everyone knows who should be knighted:

#1: Neil deGrasse Tyson

#2: Shemp Howard

#3: Me

2012-05-10 06:53:14 PM
I can't believe I am wasting my time writing this, but only British citizens can be knighted, because they are subjects of the Queen and duty bound to her. Or something like that.

2012-05-10 06:54:01 PM
BronyMedic: Isn't there a federal law which requires American Citzens who recieve titles of nobility to forfeit them? Or did it never get ratified.

Yeah - it's an obscure little law called Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8 of the Constitution.

Congress can - and usually does - allow American's to receive foreign titles since WWII - but it requires a Private Bill authorizing the exception.

I hereby vote to revoke the personhood of NY Times Corp, NBC, CBS, ABC, and any union.

As an American isn't a little insulting. I mean we did fight a war to not be subjects of the British empire.

I get that our countries are friendly now but it just seems wrong

HaywoodJablonski: Sir Robert Plant

Robert Plant is English, so wouldn't be on a list of Americans.

I'd vote for Christopher Walken - he's half Scottish anyway.... You can get an honorary knighthood if you're not British (Sir Bob Geldof).

Any consideration of knighthood that considers David Letterman a candidate should immediately be shunned.
