Please don't go see it. Until the rights get back to Marvel we can't see Spidey in a decent film.Ad if you pay for it, Sony will keep the rights because they're making money.

So is that what the kids are calling it these days? Releasing super previews?

Look, I really don't care to know what Peter Parker does in the privacy of his room while viewing German Scheiße porn.

As far as I know, the only way that will happen is if Sony doesn't put out a movie for 5 years, and I don't see any sane, profit-seeking company letting their rights to a property like Spider-Man simply expire. They'll keep pumping out sh*t movies and people will continue to pay money to see them.

I hope there are details of the deal I'm not aware of, like some kind of hard date when the rights automatically return to Marvel.

I think the only hope is if Sony fails 3-4 times in a row they might be willing to sell the rights back for big bucks.

2012-05-10 03:04:11 PM
Maybe Marvel will buy the rights back with all their Avengers money.

2012-05-10 03:06:00 PM
I love Spider-Man with all my heart but I have ZERO interest in this movie. I can't get excited about a reboot without Sam Raimi or Tobey McGuire (who is admittedly too old to play Peter Parker at this point).

I want to see Spider swing across a New York skyline that features both the Baxter Building and Stark Tower.

2012-05-10 03:17:59 PM
It's funny because the discussion seems to be who will have the bigger opening weekend, Avengers or Batman? Spider-Man is an afterthought

I'm warming up to the new Spider-man and Emma Stone, obviously, but everything I've seen of the lizard just looks wrong. Why is his head round?

files.g4tv.com

It seems like a small thing, but somehow that takes him from looking like a bad-ass human komodo dragon to loking like...well, I don't know but it looks kind of goofy, whatever it is. This design was handed to them on a silver platter, and they still screwed it up. WTF?

2012-05-10 03:23:46 PM
Why even put him in a mask? The whole movie's going to be 120 minutes of finding lame excuses to get it off him.

2012-05-10 03:30:49 PM
This looks better than the Raimi films.

2012-05-10 03:31:38 PM
This has to be the fastest reboot in history right? I guess we can expect a new Batman in about 2 years.

Probably practical limitations on the effects/costume. The comic look would be cooler, definitely, but the movie does look more "I'm a person who turns lizardy".

I had no interest in seeing it until I saw the trailer before The Avengers. Now I'm merely lukewarm. One thing I did notice is that they seem to have FINALLY gotten the personality right. He throws off silly one-liners in the middle of fights, which is exactly what he does in the comics.

What limitations? Jurassic park did realistic tyrannosaurs and velociraptors more than a decade ago. It's the same thing, but with a lab coat. If they couldn't pull that off, they weren't trying very hard.

Save your money. I saw an early screening. Spiderman is out of shape, and most of the movie focuses on his search for a laundromat. The one scene where he allegedly fights the Lizard you don't even see the Lizard, he just taunts Spiderman from off-screen for being such a lardass. Very disappointing.

Some of you guys crack me up. A lot of you thought The Avengers trailer sucked and that the movie would also. Well, you were wrong.

So far, the trailers for Spider-Man look pretty darn good, with some of it looking better than Raimi's version. The only thing that made me groan a bit was his reaction to the thief pulling out a knife on him. Everything else looks pretty intriguing. I will admit that I am concerned to hear that J Jonah Jameson's character will not be in the movie. If that's true, I think it is a mistake.

Nevertheless, I'll most likely be there opening night, if not opening weekend, just like the rest of you.

Punisher and Blade are back with Marvel. Not much hope with getting anything else back. Though Daredevil is free if no movie is started by end of 2012.

If we go full nerd and over analyze the line... -"You found my weakness. *pause* "It's small knives."

The writing is solid. That's Spider-man. The voice he uses is shaky and weak like a petrified Woody Allen. The pause is just right, though that may be editing. The effect that comes across is that he's mocking the thief. Which he is.

All in all, it works objectively and for me subjectively. Your mileage may vary.

Whatever it takes to get a movie with Carnage to finally happen, could do a proper version of Venom in the same movie.

/Sam Raimi would have done Carnage absolutely no justice.

Have you watched the full clip, where he continues and goes from "funny quip" to "raging douchebag"? Because that's what happens. He starts acting like a jock who is tormenting a nerd while he basically torments the criminal once he has already beaten him. That's not Peter Parker; That's Flash Thompson.

Nope, you're wrong.
This will have a ho-hum opening. And unlike you, most people around here seem to actually care about this character that we've all grown up with, and would like to see it back with it's rightful owner. To do that, this franchise must make no money.

I probably won't even torrent it after it comes out on blu-ray. This looks like a gigantic piece of shiat.

And I'm not entirely sure what you mean by everyone thought Avengers would suck?? I didn't hear that from anyone. On this site or in real life. It looked f*cking awesome.

Does it frighten you to think that it was closer to 20 years ago, than it is to "over 10 years ago"?

Cause it scares the ever loving shiat out of me.

I agree 100%. Spider-Man is sarcastic yes, but he's never acted like... that.
That fake-whiny over the top doucheness isn't something he'd stoop to. He's more of a wisecracker. That scene is way too animated. Spidey never really acts out shiat like that.

1. Whatever. I'd wager that I've been a Spidey fan just as long as you, if not longer. So I do care how the movie will turn out. You'll see it just like you saw the Raimi versions, organic web shooters and all.

2. You didn't hear from anyone that the Avengers looked weak? Then you didn't venture into too many of the Avengers threads that appeared before opening day.
