Death_Poot: Not defending anyone

Of course you aren't.

I'm just saying, like the initial time I posted, that stuff like from this 40+ years ago ought not to have a bearing in political campaigns today, for candidates in either party.

Why not? If there are incidents in a candidate's childhood that raise red flags, why shouldn't they be considered? If Barack Obama had gone on an arson spree in his teens, I'd consider that relevant information.

GAT_00: Two, Obama won North Carolina. He clearly has some sway.

He won by a 0.4% margin, down to less than 14,000 votes out of more than 4.2 million votes cast. He barely managed to scrape out a victory there. It was by no means definitive.

The president actively involving himself in state-level politics is and should be frowned upon.

Way to not quote me. Very brave of you. So you can respond and hope that i don't notice? You douche.

There are certain hallmark behaviors of psychopaths. Torturing animals, lack of empathy, fire setting, wetting the bed, etc. Romney shows two of those in his past. I think his childhood is profoundly relevant to his candidacy, as it is indicative of his character and who he became. Then again, maybe your "no mercy" attitude toward bullied children is a result of no one ever sticking up for you until you ended up hospitalized. I don't know. maybe you resent the world because it farked with you so hard when you were a kid, and now you want to take it back to whoever you can. Like you said, I don't know you and you don't know me. I do know that you're trying to minimize a truly sadistic action by a major party nominee for the highest office in the world. I figure you're either paid to do it, you are sadistic and hateful yourself, or you're doing it for the lulz cause you fancy yourself some Heath Ledger Joker type of personality. Are you a snivelling bootlicker in real life or just on the internet? These are the questions I am trying to figure out by asking you directly.

President Bush endorsed a constitutional amendment Tuesday that would restrict marriage to two people of the opposite sex but leave open the possibility that states could allow civil unions...

The president said he decided to endorse an amendment because of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's recent decision granting marriage rights to same-sex couples, and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's decision two weeks ago to begin giving marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples."

Hmmmm...
You really don't get it.

If a person, at any age, had the idea to instigate a vile crime, it says something about character.
The fact that many responders CAN NOT relate AT ALL to the actions of a prick who would bully to that extreme does not imply that they are "thinned skinned".

It implies they have something at their core that responds with revulsion at what Romney did.

Romney has already proved to have a malleable character.
His core morals are hidden by his ability to say whatever to whoever depending on current self-seving goal.

This incident gives us a glimpse of who Romney truly is.
Not was. He has no remorse. It was a "prank" to him.
That says it all.
He is a remarkable prick.

it also says a lot about you that you can relate to Romney on this at ANY level

Anyone who wants to dismiss something like this as a stupid adolescent prank, easily forgotten by all, might want to consider how closely it parallels... say... a group of guys holding down a woman believed to be a lesbian, and forcibly "straightening her out." Call it what you will, a gang of people assaulting someone to physically force their social/sexual "morality" on them is not a childhood prank, and the mindset of those who would participate is disturbing on many levels.

Sort of. It is tough because I want to believe people can change and not be the same stupid asses they were when they were younger...get a second chance if you will.

But you know, maybe if you assault a kid because he is different and you shave his head, you can't become President some day. Crazy I know. There have to be a few Republicans out there that never assaulted a guy that could run for office.

Yup... I do.

If I raped your mom, at any point in my life, it would say something about my character at the time.

If, when reminded of it 50 years later, I said that she was a good time and her screams were all pranky, that would say something about my character at this time
(extreme analogy used so you might understand)

The fact that I can never imagine doing that at any age also says something.

The fact that you think it doesn't say anything about who Romney is today considering his response that he doensn't remember the incident, then with a quick flip-flop, dismisses it as a "prank".
That is

Because they weren't douchebags at the time like he was. Thats how it works. Bullies are douchebags. When during the course of their day they act like a douchebag, it's no big deal. The witnesses on the other hand, were not douchebags and so they recall the event.

In 7th grade one of the school bullies took the rubber stopper off of a shuffleboard stick and threw it at my friend Jim. It ended up stabbing into his leg so he had to go to the hospital. I remember it, presumably because I wasn't a douchebag at the time. I highly doubt the bully remembers it because he was a douchebag. Is the bully still a douche today or not? I have no idea. But given that was a long time ago I sure as fark wouldn't use this as a basis to guess.

I dunno, maybe Mitt is lying and he remembers maybe he isn't. If he's lying that'd be the only part I find relevant because it would show he currently is a liar. But that he was a douche 50 years ago? Who cares?
