Romney has certain personality deficiencies that make him unfit for the presidency. He is incapable of sympathizing with anyone outside his class or milieu; perhaps not even that. He has no milk of human kindness. I'm no expert but a diagnosis of high level autism might be in order. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that, but you'd no more want an autistic president than you would a suicidally depressed one.

While I'm on the subject, why do the repubs keep picking candidates with father issues? I realize that Obama has father issues too, but he seems to have resolved them prior to assuming the presidency. GWB on the other hand was so intent on avenging the Iraqi insult to his father he forgot to pay attention to the "Bin Laden determined to strike in the US" memo and entangled us in two costly, ghastly wars. Romney's career in retrospect seems to be a series of steps to achieve the goal his father was denied--the presidency. Every job has been calculated to enhance his resume for this year's run and he stuck with each one just long enough to cement his credentials. If he doesn't win, what's left to him? And if he does win, what exactly does he plan to do with his victory? I realize it takes a big ego to think you have what it takes to run the country, but for Romney the ego trip appears to be an end in itself. Maybe after he loses he'll loosen up a little and finally have a beer with his friends--if he has any left.

This is just more proof that libtards have no sense of humor (especially homosexualist libtards). Young lad Romney was just having some fun pranking a lesser human.

Romney is the victim here, he's been suffering from silver poisoning since birth.
Odd ball should have know this & steered clear of Mittens.

Thank GOD nobody got in trouble for this.

Because he's a Northeast establishment liberal cocktail party elitist beltway RINO.

No, strike that. That's why we were supposed to hate him two months ago.

Wendy's Chili: We should judge him for being an asshole now: "I like those fancy raincoats you bought. Really sprung for the big bucks."

Which is a damn shame, because that would be pretty funny in any other circumstance than a multimillionaire scoffing at a peasant.

vernonFL: I won't judge Romney. I did some pretty horrible things in high school.

Are you still doing them today like he is? If five different people independently brought up a specific, serious incident you were involved in would you apologize?

Like so many other things in politics, what's less important now is that it happened. What's important now is his current response. Everybody has done things they're ashamed of, the difference is some of us are actually ashamed of our past misdeeds.

He doesn't seem to be, and his stance on the issues today suggests he's still just as big a bully now as he was then. Now, though, he doesn't want to pin one poor kid to the floor and attack him with scissors, he wants to attack a couple million people with the full force of the federal government, and that's not right.

2012-05-10 01:42:52 PM
"I don't remember that incident," Romney said, laughing. "I certainly don't believe that I thought the fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case."

So Romney didn't make the decision to be straight until later in life?

You attempted to sexually humiliate men who you perceived as weak?

That's pretty much all anyone did in high school.

I don't remember doing anything worse than ignoring someone. But it was Canada, so maybe that's the norm.

Does this mean I can throw a rock at Romney? :)

Pocket Ninja: The next step, of course, is finding Mitt Romney making any sort of statement on bullying. It's been enough of a topic these past few months that there has to be something from the campaign. Then, in his next interview, quote that statement and ask whether his previous experience as a bully at all informed his current views. Sit back, enjoy.

This is why I love you.

I'm not sure about electing a man with so many memory recall problems

Oh puhleeze, this was 50 years ago. You really expect him to remember all of that stuff?

Last year I went to my 30 year high school reunion. Ran in to a girl who had been a good friend of mine, and she told me how her kids loved hearing about the many, many pranks I'd pulled on teachers, and other various things I did to annoy them. I remembered almost none of the specific incidents, including one that I pulled on an English teacher over and over (I recalled hating the guy, though, and how much he hated me).

I reconnected on fb with an old college friend recently, he vividly remembers various funny incidents that I have no memory of - he could be making this stuff up for all I know.

And I think I generally have a pretty good memory. Some stuff just doesn't make much of an impression on you, even if it does on others.

What would impress me is if Romney would say something like, "I don't recall the incident, but back then we often weren't very good about letting people be themselves, be 'different'. I'd like to think in the last half century we as a society have changed, I know I have, and kids today I hope will be okay with some of their classmates looking different, thinking different, acting different. We're a diverse society, and that's a good thing."

Hah, I know, only on Reverse Day.

zedster: He came out as gay to his family and close friends and led a vagabond life, taking dressage lessons in England and touring with the Royal Lipizzaner Stallion riders. After an extreme fit of temper in front of his mother and sister at home in South Bend, he checked into the Menninger Clinic psychiatric hospital in Topeka, Kan. Later he received his embalmer's license, worked as a chef aboard big freighters and fishing trawlers, and cooked for civilian contractors during the war in Bosnia and then, a decade later, in Iraq.

The incident was recalled similarly by five students, who gave their accounts independently of one another. Four of them - Friedemann, now a dentist; Phillip Maxwell, a lawyer; Thomas Buford, a retired prosecutor; and David Seed, a retired principal - spoke on the record. Another former student who witnessed the incident asked not to be named.

I think this is the final straw.....will be turning the news off till after November.

We should just leave the office vacant. If we're judging whether we are going to vote for someone based on a supposed incident back in high school well over 30 years ago, then, collectively we have failed as a nation.

By this "gotcha" logic/politics, no one qualifies to be President

And yes, I would be saying the same thing if the accusation were leveled at Obama.

He's doing both.

He is saying:

A) He didn't do it
B) He doesn't remember
C) He probably did do it
D) It was no big deal
E) He did it but he didn't mean to hurt anyone. (because you know insulting people or tackling them and cutting their hair is a friendly gesture)
F) He is sorry (about them being offended not his own actions)

What a surprise it's only been a couple of hours and he already has taken every position on this issues.

Whatever... I don't doubt Romney has been an entitled prick most of his life, but I couldn't care less about this. I wasn't going to vote for that shameless plutocrat anyway for far more important reasons than he was a bully at prep school.

I got targeted by the "cool kids" in high school too because I was weird... I didn't have a problem defending myself, though and while I got my ass kicked plenty of times (one time ending up in the hospital with a concussion and a broken nose after getting kicked in the face a few times by some meat head jock), I dished out enough punishment that I eventually got left alone. I reveled in not "fitting in". The day I graduated was probably one of the happiest days of my childhood.

i think mitt romney would be well-served to shave his head now. make a true sacrifice as a sign of penitence. his hair is his vanity. of course he won't, because the GOP base LIKES it when gay kids are bullied. hell, they'd probably prefer gay kids to be killed.

This is only going to make him more popular with the base. He probably leaked it himself.
