I won't say no to that

For some reason, I don't like that guy. I think it's mainly because he starred in the never-should-have-happened remake of Arthur. Arthur was perfect, no need for a remake.

2012-05-10 11:26:47 AM
"Unctous greasestain" Russell Brand or "mystifyingly high-profile derp-wrangler Russell Brand, I would accept. Why do people insist on labeling this guy as a "comedian."

2012-05-10 11:48:47 AM
Yeah... and I'm pretty sure that he then he hosted the awards show at least once since then.

Ditto. He just comes off as an annoying douche, not to mention the fact that he was lucky enough to bang Katy Perry.

MTV? Ancient History.

And, didn't he do it before?

2012-05-10 12:26:46 PM
I know almost everyone seems to hate him, but I like the guy. They found a way to make me put on MTV, something that hasn't happened in a very long time.

"Get Him to the Greek" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" are both hilarious movies that I have watched enough times to finally buy the DVDs of since I keep showing them to people (who end up agreeing they are hilarious.)

Though "Arthur" was pretty appalling, you can't entirely blame him since he's not the one who said "hey, let's do a horrid remake of a classic movie."

2012-05-10 12:52:30 PM
I hate him. He was very mean to Andrew Sachs.

2012-05-10 12:57:23 PM
Uh, yeah, Subby, I realize you've been living under a rock the past decade but point in fact Russell Brand has hosted other MTV shows since "the September 11th, 2001 incident". Heard of the VMAs? He hosted them TWICE. Oh, never mind.

/And I'm not even an RB fan

BalugaJoe: I hate him. He was very mean to Andrew Sachs.

Yeah, but the joke's a lot funnier since we elected a REAL President, and Osama is dead.

serpent_sky: I know almost everyone seems to hate him, but I like the guy.

I can't recall him being that funny in any movie I've seen him in, and have avoided his most recent ones, but I found him fairly amusing on various talk shows he's been a guest on, particularly overseas.

2012-05-10 01:00:36 PM
MTV's still around? *shrugs*

2012-05-10 01:01:08 PM
more like "empty v", amirite?

2012-05-10 01:13:04 PM
Who is RB farking to get work?

2012-05-10 01:14:50 PM
Is that like "The Spaghetti Incident" or "The String Cheese Incident"?

Christ, Subby, you make it sound like some guy in the South Tower sh*t his pants and had to go home halfway through his shift.

2012-05-10 01:18:25 PM
Does anyone older than 19 actually watch MTV anymore?

2012-05-10 01:21:59 PM
Wow, so Russell Brand has been around since 2001? shiat, that's a long time to not be funny.

2012-05-10 01:24:27 PM
Which is only a problem if you plan on watching the MTV Movie Awards. I don't assume anybody older than 15 is planning on doing that, and none of them remember 9/11 anyway so who cares?

2012-05-10 01:32:00 PM
He says rude things, so he's edgy. You old people just don't understand.

Always hated the douchebag, but knocking Geoff Peterson's head off on Craig Ferguson was the last straw.

I've laughed at Family Guy more than I've laughed at Russell Brand.

/I laughed once during Family Guy, and by accident at that

2012-05-10 02:08:25 PM
Maybe MTV didn't hear about his divorce and are expecting Zooey Dechannel's tits to make an appearance?

2012-05-10 02:09:18 PM
He's generally amusing when he's playing some variation of the douchebag he is in real life, but I don't want to see him in anything else. MTV is doing this because they EXPECT he'll do something faux outrageous.

2012-05-10 02:40:05 PM
I have to say... I tried to not like the remake of Arthur as like a few others, this guy isn't my favorite star/actor (whatever he's supposed to be).

But I actually enjoyed it, he made an excellent impression (vocally) of Dudley and he had the being-drunk-all-the-time thing perfect.

And for once, it was a fairly easygoing remake, and didn't go for uber edgy or anything.

While they played the original song's music in the background in a scene... they really should have used it, if only for the end credits.... after watching it, I had to switch to the original just to listen to the song.

/t'was the best that he could do...

2012-05-10 02:43:05 PM
Ooh, how exciting!! I'll be sure to watch, purely on the off chance that he says or does something shocking and unexpected!! Mayhap it will even be somewhat sexual in nature, and spark some sort of media controversy! Fingers crossed!

He was great in Get Him to the Greek.

I know it's been said, so subby looks like a tard, but it needs to be restated:

Brand has hosted the awards since the firing. I don't want MTV anymore, but I saw clips of his previous hosting, and it was dreadfully boring (says with Brand-like accent)

But, whatever...I'm sure he motorboated Katy Perry many times...so good for him.

His stand up, movies and books are hilarious. Don't like it, then don't watch. I'd be willing to bet you're judging based solely on clips instead of knowing what you're talking about.

I find him witty and funny.

It's spelled unctuous, and I'm only correcting you because it's an awesome word and I love you for using it.

I don't waste my Grammar Nazism on any old peon.

The aged 30-45 women in your office all agree that Russel Brand is hip and edgy.

I thought he got fired for making fun of the Jonas Brothers' purity rings. Pretty sure that was after 2001.

LOL at the amount of people who don't understand that the Video Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards are two different things.

Is it possible that MTV only cares about ratings?

2012-05-10 05:20:59 PM
Again? They had him host when nobody knew who he was, and now they're having him do it when nobody cares about him since he's no longer boning Katie Perry?

2012-05-10 05:39:54 PM
I like him alright as a actor and his comedy routine is suprisingly funny (well about half of it) but he was god farking awful the last time he hosted (I know its not his fault completely since hes just reading the lines given to him). Date rape joke about megan fox? Yeah it was about as painful to watch as it sounds. The entire audience cringed too.
