Cheney is only supportive/tolerant of gay marriage or gay rights because he wants to be able to see his grandchild. If he didn't have a lesbian daughter he would be completely against gay rights because he is an evil dickhead.

Ulgh. Log Cabin Republicans, the red-headed step children of the gay community. As much as I'd like to fark Clarke Cooper, sometimes I just wish I could shut him up by putting something in his mouth.. and I think you know what I mean.

From his mouth: "Log Cabin Republicans appreciate that President Obama has finally come in line with leaders like Vice President Dick Cheney on this issue, but LGBT Americans are right to be angry that this calculated announcement comes too late to be of any use to the people of North Carolina, or any of the other states that have addressed this issue on his watch."

Really? Dick Cheney is now the standard of appropriate and supportive response to gay rights? The 2004 presidential election called, they want to speak to you about the attempted constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman, Mr. Cooper.

Also from Clarke: "This administration has manipulated LGBT families for political gain as much as anybody, and after his campaign's ridiculous contortions to deny support for marriage equality this week he does not deserve praise for an announcement that comes a day late and a dollar short."

Manipulated how? By refusing to defend DOMA? By protecting the right of fed employees to cover their same-sex spouse on their health insurance? By ending DADT? That's some serious manipulation.

Any support from Cheney for gay rights should inspire -further-loathing-, not any form of grudging credit: It is just another case of "well, if it's ME or my FAMILY, then it's DIFFERENT" from the asshole-right.

Yes, yes, good, you've had a revelation about one of your many areas of ignorance and hate. Until you understand that that revelation should extend to other biases, phobias and hatreds you maintain because of ignorance and/or lack of experience with examples of the categories your revile, you can go fark yourself.

Selfish, empathyless sociopaths, the lot of them.

I've taken the liberty of compiling a list of 2012 Presidential candidates who support gay marriage:

1. Barack Obama

Serious Black: As an added bonus, Mitt Romney's campaign has now publicly stated that they will campaign on enacting a federal ban on recognizing marriages between same-sex couples.

What an ass.

Oh, and can anyone show me a statement from Dick Cheney while he was VP supporting same sex marriage? Because I haven't heard one.

gingerjet: Jackson Herring: What's YOUR candidate's stance on gay marriage, farkwits?

I'm on their mailing list. They haven't endorsed a candidate yet. But I was rather disappointed how they dealt with this announcement.

At some point, they'll have to come to accept the fact that supporting gay rights and supporting the republican party are mutually incompatable. At that point they will have to either form their own party or join the one that doesn't think they're the spawn of Satan bent on destroying this good God-fearing country. Until then, I will patiently await their endorsement of candidate who approves of their lifestyle.

Yeah gee whiz, I wonder who the Log Cabin Republicans will endorse.

The same person who wants to deny them civil rights.

I'd say the LCRs are more like collaborators.

The first president in history to come out in favor of gay marriage, and the Log Cabin Republicans have a problem with him.

What's YOUR candidate's stance on gay marriage, farkwits?

Dick Cheney said nothing about equal rights during either campaign or his two terms in office. Barack Obama publicly says he supports same-sex marriage.
Clearly, Dick Cheney is the stronger advocate of equal rights.

GOProud are the red-headed step children. Or more accurately, the self-hating devil children of the gay community.

I like LCR because they held Obama's feet to the fire by suing to end DADT long before he indicated any intent to end it. It's nice to have true opponents to Democrats that support gay rights. Contrast that to the Human Rights Campaign holding another beltway cocktail party while we enter decade #3 of them trying to enact ENDA.

But this press release was douchebaggery. LCR needs to avoid falling into the GOProud trap of opposing everything Democrats do regardless of what side it puts them on in regards to gay rights.

I really want to feel sorry for the Log Cabin folks but the amount of self delusion it must take to be a part of movement that hates you for being you takes such a concious act of denial that I can't
