At any rate, he got busted because he left without paying for it; using your pockets (or pants) to hold groceries while you are in the store is not illegal.


Technically neither is opening a package and eating from it, so long as you pay for it before you leave. My wife does this all the time, and it bothers the hell out of me. She can't do it in my presence. I also was mortified the time she tore a page out of a magazine at the store because she wanted to show the picture in the ad to her hairdresser but didn't want to pay the $8 for the magazine.
