William Shatner was Captain Kirk from the Star Trek.

Thanks, submitter, I never made the connection before.

Shatner has been on other shows too, like The T.J. Hooker and Practice. I also liked his commercials for The Priceline.

well since you are telling everyone the obvious, I need some help. When I put my pants on, does the zipper go in the front or the back?

Hey, not everyone knows who some guy from star wars is.

But when will the William Shatner who played Denny Crane get his turn?

Well done. I thought for a moment that the Admins had slipped up and gone ridiculous.

I always preferred The Star Trek: The The Next Generation, or TSTTTNG, as the fans knew it.

2012-05-10 08:44:13 AM
Did you really just explain to me where I'm supposed to know William Shatner from? Wow, just.....wow.

2012-05-10 08:45:23 AM
Is that weird...or what?

2012-05-10 08:46:53 AM
Subby's effectively trolling.

2012-05-10 08:48:17 AM
Now subby, was he the bald, British one or the token black one?

2012-05-10 08:49:26 AM
Other stars to host the show include Alexander Armstrong, Benedict Cumberbatch and John Bishop.

And about 4700 other people. What an odd sentence to include.

Why in hells bells would that be one of the strangest things that we'll ever witness? Would it be as strange as a headline that describes where we might know William Shatner from?

2012-05-10 09:12:24 AM
Oh that Will Shatner. My first thought was the excellent author of the Tek books, but that would be silly.

Stranger than having a tub of lard on as a guest?

Meh - he's Canuckian (North America's European connection). It's an easy fit.

My theory is that subby was going for a Weird or What reference and couldn't remember the name of the show, but I'm below optimum caffeine level so I could be missing something.

2012-05-10 09:55:17 AM
What? But I thought Captain Kirk was played by Chris Pine! What the hell?

Yes, this. For those of you that don't know this--a while back the queue was getting spammed by someone who kept submitting the same "William Shatner sings Rocket Man" YouTube link with a headline that was pretty close to the one on this thread. I think it got submitted like 35-40 times in one month.

So here's possibly one of the strangest things that you'll ever witness. William Shatner (Captain Kirk from the Star Trek) singing Rocket Man

/I'll probably get perma-banned for posting this link. :-)

Nothing says "I'm old" like prefixing titles with "the".

This isn't close to one of the strangest things you'll ever witness involving Shatner.

There's no way he can be as good as Brian Blessed hosting HIGNFY, unless they get him drunk first.

Or put little gremlins on the set, pulling things apart, and everyone is ordered to not see them. So we watch his slow descent into madness.

Even then, The Brian Blessed was truly spectacular, well worth the YouTube watch.

I REALLY REALLY hope this headline starts a "clueless old guy" headline meme here on Fark...

I'm totally digging this!

Thinks the headline needs one more "The".

I head that Barack Obama (President of the United States) is a fan of Star Trek (Science fiction TV show from the sixties).

Yes really.

Not strange. He appeared a couple of times on the sci-fi quiz show Space Cadets. Which had a special rule that Shatner's team always wins.

In addition, I'd add Brucie Forsyth, Rolf Harris, and the multiple times Jo Brand and Jeremy Clarkson have hosted HIGNFY (Have I Got News For You)
