What the hell?

Well, it must be 'shopped then.

Just like Fartbama's war-room pic.

Olympia Washington. Home to Tiny's Big-n-Tall Fire Department.

Forced perspective. The curb the fireman on the right has his foot on is actually a wall edge. Really cool picture.

For a moment I thought it might be 'shopped as well, but you are correct.

Excellent composition.

Good catch...now that I look at it again, it's obvious with the way the car is sitting on the ledge. I bet that's going into the photographer's keeper pile.

A fireman is never late subby, nor is he early.

2012-05-11 02:13:07 PM
Or is the fireman on the right standing on a retaining wall?

Took me a second, but I chuckled. Nice find.

I love forced perspective shots. I need to work on my technique and timing

I like to get small now and then too.

This looks shopped, I can tell by the pixels.

2012-05-11 02:17:40 PM
It's probably a good thing they didn't crash into that orange sports car in the background. Is that a Lotus Elise?

2012-05-11 02:18:26 PM
There are other factors at work - the photographer had to be using a large f-stop (which means that the aperture that allows light into his camera was very small) and had to be somewhat distant from the scene (ie, he couldn't be standing right behind the larger of the two firemen). If both of those criteria are met (reasonable, given the bright sunny day and the likelihood of being kept behind a safety limit), a deep field image could capture both the firemen in sharp focus, giving us a gem of an image.

Wow, you have to look at that six times, because the fireman on the right also has REEEEAALLY tiny feet, and the one on the left has feet much too big for his apparent size. And the fire extinguisher would have to be about four feet high.

Awesome pic!

The funky perspective makes the shoes of the guy on the right look really tiny and the shoes of the guy on the left look really big. (Ladies, this is your cue to say "How YOU doin'?")

Interestingly, the "lamp" picture is actually of a woman's legs. It is a double illusion.

That's a Lotus... looks like an Elise, but it might be an Exige.
