A Terrible Human: Chimperror2: because we have the best health care system in the world.

We also consume a large percentage of cancer drugs, MRI machines and other miracles of modern medicine.

/And it will all end when it changes from excellent to "not covered" to "prohibited." The inevitable Obama legacy.

I want in on this best health care system in the world thing....oh wait I don't have insurance and can't afford it so I'm screwed.

That's because you are a terrible human. :-/

the nameless one: Anyone who has ever been addicted to painkillers knows what hell is like when withdrawl hits. I fell 30 ft onto concrete when i was younger and the doctors passed out those things like candy to me, eventually I was getting prescribed 75 mcg patches and oxycodone to deal with pain.

I was taking Lorcets and Somas for 5+ years, I quit them cold turkey and went to Tramadol which barely does anything for pain but doesn't make me a zombie. the withdrawl from lorcets was the worst thing ever. Wouldn't wish it on anyone

Could it possibly have anything to do with the fact that the U.S. is the only country where Big Pharma is allowed to market directly to the consumer. No? Ask your doctor if Viagra is right for you.

God I miss Soma.. wasn't even scheduled until this year. Worked great for easing my neck spasms and preventing me from getting a migraine. And yeah, tramadol is pretty weak and ineffective unless you take 6-8 a day. Ugh.
I stopped going to doctors when I realized that I knew more about drugs than most of them... and when doctors realize that, they won't prescribe anything useful anymore.

Except that 2 weeks ago I showed up at our lab to discover a business partner completely emptied the building and skipped town with all of our hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment. wtf.

jjwars1: There's a reason we invaded Afghanistan, the worlds #1 producer of opiates used in painkillers

Bzzzzt! Wrong... Pharmaceutical heroin is much cheaper and cleaner.

I can't wait to see the sales numbers for Zohydro. We've basically legalized heroin. Let's stop f*cking around here and admit that we have legalized hardcore drugs and pretend it's legal by using pharmacology. Yet, marijuana is still illegal and will kill all the children.

I'd venture to bet that many of the same people who are vehemently anti-pot are consistently 4-7 days early on their refill for Oxy or vicodin. F*cking hypocritical assholes.

It's hysterical, really. We're fighting the Drug War and running a multi-billion business in those very same meds, but with a doctor and a prescription pad. Don't give me the chronic pain crap. I know the ones who are on it for fused discs and such. I know it has a legitimate use, but the hypocrisy of the argument on drugs we have is just ridiculous.

We can't have an honest discussion about anything in this country. Ahhhh... F*ck it. I'm just going to put my 401(k) on Zohydro and let it ride!

Why are you anti herion? That shiat gave us all of our greatest recent works of music, acting, and art. I say fark yeah more Herion users more music, art and art films!!!

ecmoRandomNumbers: That reminds me...

It's time to take my Vicodin. But it's actually for pain, so it kinda sucks. Wish I were in condition to take it recreationally, or not at all.

Same here, tho it's percocet. I'm like you and have legitimate pain, yet tryin to find a pain managment doc is impossible cause they don't see people without insurance.

It's like those who use it for recreation get away with it, but those who actually need it end up getting lumped in with the addicts and theives. It sucks arse!

/when callin pharmacy, have to give name to verify that I have a legit script
//otherwise they automatically say they're out of percs...so they don't get robbed

When my husband got shingles two years ago (he was only 33, but under such extreme stress that his system just started breaking down) and the doc prescribed Lyrica, he took one look at the size of the warning sheet and chunked it. It sucked, but he was more inclined to endure the pain than take the risk.

Splinshints: bidness: Why do people get so uptight and moralistic at the thought of someone else getting jollies off a pill?

Because I have to work with them? Drive with them? Pay taxes to help treat them when they get out of control or cause themselves liver or renal failure?

Why do druggies think that their actions have no consequences for anybody but themselves? When you live in a society, your actions need to be balanced against the impact they have on that society and society has every right to comment on those actions when they could have a negative impact.

Damn straight. Let's ban painkillers.

Come to that, I'm tired of paying taxes and premiums for cigarette smokers and alcoholics, too. Let's ban tobacco and alcohol while we're at it.

bunner: Insurance companies take money from you, in order to pay for things when you need them to, and pay from a pool that's large enough to keep them profitable when they have to pay. They have entire floors of people who are paid to try and make sure they never have to pay a penny for the stuff they promised to pay for when they took your money. Insurance companies are largely deadbeats and the fact that they control most of what is supposed to be medicine means that medicine is largely not about medicine. Ta da.

Stop being so terrifying so early in the day. Also, for the record I think insurance should be non-profit.

i have health insurance through my employer and everything is still a battle. you can always bargain your bills down though. our local Carve N Slice Hospital is thrilled to get even 1/10th of your balance from you. They forgave my $900 bill at $345.

back on topic: a 200mg+/day opiate habit may seem hipster-cool, until you OD twice in a year like my buddy and end up cup pissin' every day for years for your PO.

go read some stories on opiophile. i'll never take another pill again unless i absolutely must!!!
