swangoatman: wait for 2013 when Obumer and Holder share the same tent with Geitner ,all wearing pink in the hot sun of Arizona. YES WE CAN.

That will be a day to celebrate. Now if we can only get the Heart attack grill to come back to the valley, we'll have a suitable place to celebrate.

Okay. How does someone who lives in the middle of nowhere get access to better varieties of beer? There are a couple of breweries out in Wyomingland, but the best variety I've been able to find is the local Old Chicago (which is nice, but expensive as many farks). Is there like, a mail order beer club or something?

Uchiha_Cycliste: jty: Wow, just had a chance to read this thread. Shiat got trolly fast. Is anyone still interested in talking about beer? I'd rather do that.

oooh! ooh! I wanna talk about beer.

DONE! I like beer and cycling, too. Didn't get a chance to ride tonight, though. Right now I'm drinking an Acme California IPA. First time I've had one, pretty decent. Not a huge fan of a lot of hops either, but I do enjoy it after a long workout like I had tonight. A good IPA is like eating your beer, then. Might follow it up with a Bells Oberon that I think I still have hiding in the fridge. Good summer beer.

These day's I've been sticking to IPAs and Arrogant bastard myself. Generally a 22 after I get home is enough to stop me from bounding off the walls because of coffee, and well, riding. Acme California eh? where would I find this? On that note, which other IPA's have you enjoyed recently so I can gauge your taste. Racer 5, Niskiki, Lagunutas , and Stone have been my mainstays. (for post ride beverages.)

I know I've had Stone, but I can't name all of the others. I'm a big fan of a bar near me called ITAP (http://www.internationaltaphouse.com/soulard/ that happens to be about a 2 minute walk from my front door. Close to 500 beers, usually about 40 on tap. I try to have something different every time I go. For a few bucks you can get an ITAP "passport." They'll mark every beer you've tried and give you a significant discount if you have one. Unfortunately I seem to have misplaced mine. I suspect that alcohol was involved.

I found the Acme beer at a local grocery store chain here in St. Louis that does a decent job of stocking odd beers. I'm also a fan of St. Louis's own Schlafly beer. Good alternative to the InBev marketing that is all over town. They make a decent American APA that I like.

On a totally unrelated note, I was recently surprised to find that I really liked Abita's Purple Haze. I'm definitely not a fan of fruitier beers (especially something sweet like Lambic Frambois) but I think they did the raspberry just right. Not too sweet - more tart than anything. Good balance.

vegasj: ongbok: You mean the charges that were downgraded from criminal to civil by the Bush administration 11 days before Obama was inaugurated, 26 days before Eric Holder became attorney general, and about nine months before Thomas Perez was confirmed as head of the Civil Rights Division.

Here is somemore information about that case that you and every right wing bigot likes to point to as an example of racism by Holder and Obama.

# The Bush administration's Justice Department - not the Obama administration - made the decision not to pursue criminal charges against members of the New Black Panther Party for alleged voter intimidation at a polling center in Philadelphia in 2008;
# The Obama administration successfully obtained default judgment against Samir Shabazz, a member of the New Black Panther Party carrying a nightstick outside the Philadelphia polling center on Election Day 2008;
# The Bush administration DOJ chose not to pursue similar charges against members of the Minutemen, one of whom allegedly carried a weapon while harassing Hispanic voters in Arizona in 2006;
# No voters have come forward to claim that they were intimidated from voting on account of the New Black Panthers standing outside the polling center in 2008;

But let me guess, those are all lies.

Posting from a blog? They might as well be lies.

I can post one sided views also... but hint, this guy WORKED THERE.

I've been familiar with this crowd since the day President Obama was elected when I worked at the Department of Justice. Soon after election day 2008, I and other attorneys would bring a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panthers. The Obama administration famously dismissed the case. Afterwards, I and another DOJ lawyer testified under oath about the hostility within the Obama DOJ to bringing cases against defendants like the NBPP

Ok here is the same exact info that I posted earlier, but from Wikipedia.

The Department of Justice became aware of the incident on Election Day and started an inquiry. Under the Bush administration, a criminal investigation into the incident was started, but later dropped.[10][11] Instead, in January 2009, less than two weeks before the Bush administration left office, the civil rights division of the Department of Justice filed a civil suit under the voting rights act against four defendants, namely, Minister King Samir Shabazz, Jerry Jackson, NBPP chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz, and the NBPP itself. The lawsuit accused them of using uniforms, racial insults and a weapon to intimidate voters and those who were there to assist them.[2] Four career attorneys, Spencer Fisher, Christian Adams, Robert Popper and Christopher Coates signed the memo that supported the case against the four defendants.[10][12] The case remained open when the Obama administration took office a few weeks later.

In April 2009 Bartie Bull, a former civil rights lawyer who was serving as a poll watcher at the polling station where the incident occurred, submitted an affidavit at Justice's request supporting the lawsuit, stating that he considered it to have been the most severe instance of voter intimidation he had ever encountered.[2][5]

When none of the defendants who were charged appeared in court to answer the charges, the career attorneys pursuing the lawsuit assumed that they would win it by default. However the career attorneys' move to pursue a default judgment against the defendants was overruled by two of their line superiors, Loretta King who was acting Assistant Attorney General and Steve Rosenbaum, Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General.[3][10][12]

Assistant Attorney General Thomas E. Perez testified that even though none of the defendants responded to the charges, the Justice Department still had a continuing legal and ethical obligation to ensure that any relief sought was consistent with the law and supported by the evidence. A decision was then made to dismiss the charges against NBPP chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz, the NBPP and Jerry Jackson. The charge against Minister King Samir Shabazz, the individual who was seen brandishing a nightstick, was maintained but narrowed. The original charge against Minister King Samir Shabazz sought an injunction prohibiting acts of intimidation anywhere in the United States, but the charge was narrowed to apply only within the City of Philadelphia. The Justice Department then sought and obtained a default judgment against King Samir Shabazz. The injunction would prohibit Shabazz from displaying a weapon within 100 feet of a Philadelphia polling place for the next three years

Link

If you look up the facts on that case you will find just what I posted, that the Bush administration downgraded the charges and the Obama administration pursued civil charges against the guy holding the baton. But instead of listening to facts you decide to listen to lies and spread lies.

The Lambic Frambois need to be drunken at the right time. They are for when you buy a baguette, a brie, a peach, an apricot, a plum and a banana and go to the park to consume it all and let the day pass by. They aren't for hey, man! let's drink!

As bad as it could possibly get, I would have no issue with it... and it's not bad. They're inmates - They don't deserve rights. Those "rights" cost taxpayers millions and millions of dollars.

Yes and not investigating sex crimes because the victims are brown is okay too.

/fark you everyone deserves rights.

rufus-t-firefly: JonnyG: While I don't particularly agree with his policing policies, I have to say that I have absolutely no issue with his treatment of inmates. As bad as it could possibly get, I would have no issue with it... and it's not bad. They're inmates - They don't deserve rights. Those "rights" cost taxpayers millions and millions of dollars.

Yeah, "human" rights aren't for ALL humans, are they?

Bleeding hearts like this are a big reason why crime is such a huge issue. The best way to eliminate crime is to eliminate the criminals. Screw human rights for all. "Rights" are why we can't discipline our children anymore, thus making the problems with today's youth what they are. "Rights" are why the education and juvenile justice systems are such a mess. "Rights" are why we pay out the ass to fund the lives of murderers who often live better than the taxpayers supporting them.

Criminals disregard their victims' rights rather frequently, yet we rush to ensure they are comfortable, spoiled, well fed, entertained, and whatever else. It's f**king ridiculous. This whole "rights" thing needs to be seriously examined for the better of society. If you ain't contributing (assuming you are able to), you get no rights. What's not fair about that? And it should go for everyone, including youth.

Seriously, wtf?

I seem to remember some German guy espousing similar rhetoric. Rights for me but not for ye ... etc.
Wonder what became of that guy?

On closer inspection, Acme is actually a product of North Coast Brewing. I should have prefaced my comments by stating that I'm a relative beer novice. I grew up in a small town, so my first beer drinking experiencing involved throwing Natty Lite empties out of a car window on some back roads in rural Illinois. Now that I'm a real grown up, I like real beer but my tastes are still being refined. I have a friend that's a big beer snob (I say that as a good thing) that has turned me on to some good stuff. Speaking of Rogue beers (and my friend the beer snob), have you had their John John? He just bought a 22oz the other day and gave it rave reviews. I was going to pick some up this weekend to give it a test drive.
