evoke: This is a political move by the DoJ. Pretty shamful actually since this will obviously not lead anywhere. Seems like obama will use any means to get reelected this year. Sheriff Joe is a patriot who is defending his country.

1/10

try harder

El Presidente, keep Gitmo open, Sheriff Joe deserves a long stay. And what is Lynndie England doing now? She would be perfect as Joe's personal guard.

balancing act: JonnyG: While I don't particularly agree with his policing policies, I have to say that I have absolutely no issue with his treatment of inmates. As bad as it could possibly get, I would have no issue with it... and it's not bad. They're inmates - They don't deserve rights. Those "rights" cost taxpayers millions and millions of dollars.

Here is the problem with it. A percentage of the inmate population at tent city are not convicts, but folks to poor to bail out while awaiting trial. I would have less problem with his pink underwear crap if it were only actual convicts who were being detained there. Oh, and the whole sweetheart deal thing for the relatives pink underwear concession...
Also, rights are rights, not conveniences.

You do make a valid point. It would be appropriate for me to change my statement to read "convicted criminals" instead of "inmates".

JonnyG: Bleeding hearts like this are a big reason why crime is such a huge issue.

Nope. You want to mistreat people, you go to China. We're better than that.

We sentence people to segregation from society, not torture, not rape.

Sorry but human rights are called that because they apply to everyone. Even Hitler. Even that sick fark who ate his own kid's eyes gets the same rights as everyone else.

Principles suck to have sometimes, but that's why they're principles.

Cyclometh: Man, Fark trolls have really gone to hell.

Seriously, you guys. You suck at this.

They've had a hard day. They thought Obama saying he supported gay marriage was going to sink him. Now they have to deal with their shiatty hero getting sued for destroying liberties and rights. Obama's campaign plan may be to kill off as many Republican voters with heart attacks because he seems to be not holding back right now. I'd go as far to wonder if this is his ultimate plan: "Well, guys, I tried to be reasonable for three whole years and made multiple attempts to bring you into the discussion. You pissed in my face each time. So for the next four years, fark you, and say goodbye to your little scam of a party there."

They hate him anyway, why the fark would he bother listening to them now? The next four years may be the greatest thing ever as Obama disassembles the Republican Party like a lego set.

2012-05-09 09:46:29 PM
JonnyG: Criminals disregard their victims' rights rather frequently, yet we rush to ensure they are comfortable, spoiled, well fed, entertained, and whatever else. It's f**king ridiculous. This whole "rights" thing needs to be seriously examined for the better of society. If you ain't contributing (assuming you are able to), you get no rights. What's not fair about that? And it should go for everyone, including youth.

Once again fark you troll. You don't know shiat about life at all and it shows in every single thing you post.

/grey 1 for you asshole.

Rik01: Reading the comments there shows the start of a good flame war.

Don't know about this guy. He's made jail something the prisoners don't want to return to, which is what should happen all over, but he's used some questionable techniques. He's saved the State a bunch of money by feeding them other than Grade A foods yet made sure the food fit within normal health guidelines.

However, a prisoner or two has died, apparently due to being shoved out in his overheated tent city. Yet keeping them out of the a/c has decreased their urge to fight with each other because it's simply too darn hot.

His own guards have to tolerate the heat also, though they can step into air conditioned trucks or buildings for relief now and then.

We're at the time when criminals seem to have more rights than their victims and it has become a badge of honor in a couple of cultures to have a prison record. A whole generation thrives on clothing from prison culture and music encouraging bad behavior. Rap artists get better press and street credit if they wind up being thrown in jail an few times.

At least one culture takes deep pride in displaying prison and gang tattoos.

So, when we catch these animals, we have to treat them better than the homeless living on the streets who are trying to stay OUT of prison? Guards have to RESPECT the gangs in the prisons and the courts are usually clogged with stupid lawsuits prisoners write mainly to be a pain in the arse.

Prisoners kill each other off and we shove them in solitary, but now there are rising complaints that keeping them there is bad for their mental health. I suspect that their being cold blooded killers just might mean their mental health is already compromised.

Plus, no matter what they say, 80% of the crime is caused by two minority groups, which is going to make the cops suspicious, and then they'll cry discrimination when they get stopped more than others. (Even as the cops confiscate their crack pipes, dig guns out from the car seat ...

Perhaps you should read up on some of Joe's other shenanigans, such as forcing female prisoners to give birth while in restraints. We don't even do that to cattle.

I'm not sure from which direction you've got this wrong, but you clearly do.

The investigation is about whether or not they were targeting people simply for being Hispanic - race alone is not a sufficient reason to stop people.

bulldg4life: Obama should implore congress to remove Bachman's security clearance or start an investigation in to Palin's campaign financing just to finish the tea party off

Bachmann just became a Swiss citizen, so that might be fairly easy to do. Palin, on the other hand should be ignored, just in case she gets any more crazy ideas like thinking she's qualified to run for president. If the media stops giving her attention, perhaps she will just farking go away (please!).

In other news, I believe imma whip up a batch of margaritas and drink a toast to the imminent downfall of the teabag nation, and this butt nugget called Sheriff Joe.

Cheers!

TsukasaK: Rik01: We're at the time when criminals seem to have more rights than their victims

It means how dare we treat criminals like human beings? How dare we ensure someone gets due process before we fry them? Wasn't life much better when we just let lynch mobs roam the streets? we should totally go back to that.

bunner: I understand that the word on the street is that this guy is a class A douchebag who feeds his inmates rotting swill and he is slightly more racist than the Grand Kleagle, and that's pretty lame, but.. um, like.. this - "Arpaio's office has been accused of racially profiling Latinos, basing immigration patrols" I mean, he's 60 miles from the Mexican border. What illegal immigrants SHOULD he be looking for? Renegade Swedes, ducking into Phoenix and opening lutefisk stands with no EIN?

Check out the truth about being in Joe's Jail with the blog by someone who's been there, Shaun Attwood

I'd only join the DOJ at this point if they had the balls to arrest Joe, and not sue him.
Successful people get sued. Bad guys get arrested.

bunner: What illegal immigrants SHOULD he be looking for? Renegade Swedes, ducking into Phoenix and opening lutefisk stands with no EIN?

The problem isn't that he's looking for illegal immigrants, the problem is that he's doing it wrong.

Wrong, illegal, and racial profiling: Rolling up to anyone who looks brown and demanding to see ID.

Right, more legitimate, and much more effective: Rolling up to local companies and demanding to see I-9's for all active employees.

i live in maricopa county so i get to vote against him. which i do every chance i get, not that it does any good. Hes got all the blue hairs hoodwinked. Sheriff Joe is all talk and no walk. Hes more interested in reality tv shows and birther nonsense, and publicity of any kind than he is in actually being tough on crime. I think its just a matter of time before they uncover some serious corruption that he didnt isolate himself well enough from. I wont shed any tears seeing him go to his own tent city.

loooongview1: The one-two punch of Obama publicly announcing his support of gay marriage and this suit might be enough to warrant this as a good day in the history of civil rights and liberties in this country and a blow against bigotry and discrimination.

/At the same time that usually more moderate state above me just banned gay marriage and civil unions, and states across the country are trying to enact many of the same racially profiling laws as exist in Arizona.
So probably not.

If the federal government is pro-gay rights why don't they just restrict federal aid to states that are anti-gay. For other issues that have a pretty wide range of gray that may not be a good tactic, but this issue is clearly cut and dry and will eventually be accepted by all - so just force the hand already.
