(WTSP)   Apparently, the idea of making misbehaving students wear those cone thingies that dogs wear so they don't chew themselves to death hasn't gotten old for teachers in Florida. Dug surrenders   (wtsp.com) divider line 59

The original "Cone of Silence"
can't believe I'm in first with this how odd
somehow it looks kinkier now than it used too . . .

That's not the ORIGINAL cone of silence. That's the portable cone of silence.
This is the original one:

A Terrible Human: serial_crusher: The whole idea came from the movie Disney-Pixar movie Up, which she showed in her classroom twice

Ok, let's ignore the whole child abuse angle here. This is the real problem. Our educational system is seriously going down the toilet. Back in my day our teachers actually cared enough to ensure that we had variety and didn't see the same movies twice in the same year.

I swear when the class I was in didn't have an English teacher we sat in the library watching Jurassic Park for weeks yet none of us started imitating raptors.

At least one or two of you had to have had a decent "Jeff Goldblum explains chaos theory and/or hermaphroditic raptors" impression.

It had been played so much that I kinda just took it as background noise while my friends talked.

Salt Lick Steady: What does it say on his back?

I don't know, I can't really make it out. The picture comes from a billiards playing school in Texas Link. I chose it because it was one of the few photos of a dunce cap that had someone sitting in a corner and didn't have the word "DUNCE" written on the cap.

Day_Old_Dutchie: Besoin de voir le pingouin.
Habile "blues brothers" référence. Je suis 55. Sans doute, ils sont tous morts maintenant.

Indubitably: globalwarmingpraiser: Remember when spanking kids was allowed. It actually worked.

No it didn't.

It led to a world where war and hating yer neighbor makes more sense than loving them...

Yer violence has led to a multi-trillion-a-year industry called incarceration.

I refute yer position while I love you.

Cognitive Dissonance, man.

Get used to it.

morgantx: /Didn't help that we were both spankos
//Then again, maybe that's the real reason the principal refused to spank us

"Spank me!" said the masochist.
"Nope!" said the sadist.

Can't put the cone of shame dog collar on the students? No problem, just flip it upside down, call it a dunce cap and make them wear it on their heads instead...
