Just wait until you read the brand new post about Hargrove where he was upset his signed declaration came to public, and how he felt like some of his words were exagerated. You're gonna love that.

Well, at least until all the the appeals are denied, then you'll just be mad again.

I'm gonna love how the NFL looks more and more like they've misrepresented evidence? Better believe it, lol.

When the appeals are denied? Nah, I won't be mad, that'll be expected. It's all in breaking through the CBA now.

I would say so, yes. And if they did it to that piece of evidence, what else have they done it to? It is not wrong to ask.

That's kind of interesting. Kind of sick of the whole thing. Fact is, this is the least of goodell's problems right now. That I think he has handled it poorly is going to be a distraction when he least needs it. He has so thoroughly exacerbated and reinforced the us vs them divide between owners and players they'll never fix it. Neither side is smart enough to realize their only hope is to be united at this point. Oh well. Money farks up everything eventually.

My feelings exactly. Romo's rebuttal makes a lot of sense, but it is hard to believe a walking talking pile of roided up excrement.

Probably shouldn't have signed a sworn statement if so. It's pretty much a non-story and his way of defending himself from backlash of his former team for being a "snitch."

First of all, we don't know if it's mischaracterized. Hargrove has a lot of incentive to lie now that the document is public.

Secondly, yes. He shouldn't have signed a multi point document that clearly outlines what occurred if it was a mischaracterization. DUH.

Yes, we do. The league and their "independent" reviewer said the statement would establish the existence of a bounty program. It does not. They said it would detail his participation in a bounty program. It does not. They said it would show the coaches told him to lie. It does not. All the document contains is two coaches leaning on a guy to deny the existence of a program. Florio, an attorney in his own right, details the reasons why that is significant here. And coming from a guy who started this saga constantly saying the Saints engaged in a "cash-for-cripplings" program, it's been pretty amusing to see his conversion.

Secondly, yes. He shouldn't have signed a multi point document that clearly outlines what occurred if it was a mischaracterization. DUH.

The mischaracterization to which he is referring is clearly on the part of the league, don't be obtuse. He had no idea that trying to help the league in their investigation would be warped in this way.

That whole thing is rather ambiguous, and if you think he drafted it as opposed to a lawyer, I have some land to sell you. He left himself a whole lot of wiggle room there, and that was by design.

It could be true. In all likelihood, I seriously doubt that Romanowski can remember much, given all of the scripts he was cracking back then.

Well, I won't go that far. But I will add (disclaimer - most of us don't really 'know' these guys... but we still have gut feelings like anyone else) that to me Romo feels like a guy who'd have been serving hard time somewhere had he not been paid to beat the shiat out of people.

Forgot to respond to this - exactly. I heard it went through the NFLPA's legal team before they sent it off, and they certainly did do a good job making sure none of what the NFL and Mary Jo White said was in there was actually in there, but before they claimed it was in there...yeah.

I've heard Romanowski interviewed many times, he tells some pretty good stories that don't always make him look good, so I could see him being truthful here. Either way, it's his word against Carter's, so it really means diddly squat.

I'm not sure why Carter would make shiat up, though. He's only damaging his own HOF prospects, however good they were prior to this. He was already an ESPN analyst, all over TV, he didn't need the attention. So I don't know.

Certainly possible. Romanowski has been pretty open in the past, IIRC, to his behavior on the field. Exactly - who knows.

It sounds to me like a pretty specific thing and, you know, people might say shiat like "I'm gonna stick a fork in your godmother's eye" during a football game.

This whole ordeal is such a non-story story.

People heaving their own their bodies at one another might sometimes exhibit some malicious intent.

Exactly, what is Chris Carter's motivation for lying at this point? He gains little and tarnishes his career and legacy just a bit, even if this isn't directly on the field. He appears on TV regularly, I know he is on Mike and Mike in the morning every week during the NFL season. Are we to believe that he is so desperate to be mentioned that he would fabricate something that tarnishes him, and will likely be forgotten soon enough anyway?

Yeah, like I said, that's why I'm leaning towards him, but in no way am I saying "Romonowski's a farking liar, what an asshole," etc. I mean, he did spit in people's faces and beat up a teammate, so he IS an asshole, but.

It's interesting how the tone of these threads seems to have shifted from

"OMG Bounty System I hate the Saints" people vs Saints defenders

to

"Um, wow, the rabbit hole on this is pretty deep" people vs Saints detractors.

I don't know about that, I think some players will be understanding - on the one hand, you're being leaned on by your coaches, on the other hand, you're being leaned on by the league, knowing that you've got two strikes on you from drug violations. He really was between a rock and a hard place. I don't know, I may be thinking too much of them.
