You can own guns you just can't conceal carry

Yeah, and now that is about the same as states like California. There are pretty much no urban counties in California that issue concealed carry. Open carry is now illegal. And the laws for obtaining guns are pretty similar to Canada -- need to have safety training, all handguns registered, limits on type guns and magazines, waiting periods on purchases, limits on frequency of purchases, etc.

Anyway, when I lived in Canada most households had firearms of some sort.

Umm, that wasn't polyamory. XXY = Klinefelter's syndrome, XYY = Y polyploidy, XO = Turner's syndrome. They all referred to single individuals that aren't XX or XY. You can also throw chimerism in there where a single person could be both XX and XY. These are all genetic disorders that make a person not fall into the simple genetic definition of man / woman.
