[i2.cdn.turner.com image 640x360]

oh for farksake. Do you actually ever have anything of value to contribute to any thread?

Was that any less valuable than the constant: We get it, he's black?

Yes it was of far less valuable. No value in fact. Of lesser value of anything else posted on Fark today, I suspect.

The idea of "race" is a cultural construct based primarily on superficial characteristics. Biologically/genetically, there is no such thing as "black" or "white" race. There are people considered black and people considered white by society for dumb cultural reasons but primarily because of ignorant preconceptions and bigotry.

Your post pointing out that Obama's mother is white is stupid for several reasons:

a) everyone knows this already
b) absolutely nothing to do with Obama being black
c) nothing do with accusations of bigotry against him
d) the "primary guardian" comment was exceptionally stupid for the same reason

Your post was stupid on more levels that I would have thought possible for a relatively short post.

I actually find it rather amusing that you can be so butt hurt about it that you needed to go into all this detail. Happy to waste your time. Oh, and your mom.

Fark Me To Tears: Greene County... Virginia? It's out in the middle of nowhere. A few homes. Some trailers. A bunch of pickup trucks. It's a place that most people who live in Virginia aren't even aware of. Yeah... we should be alarmed because they are calling for an armed revolution.

Here is what just 2 people managed to do when calling for armed insurrection:

Curiously, when we speak of bigotry and racism, the south gets tossed in together as one group, but when we talk about revolution, there seems to be this idea that the US military, the biggest demographic of which is southerners, would side with the government in a shooting war. I'm not suggesting they would or wouldn't either way, just tossing the idea out there.

I'd imagine there'd be some degree of dissension but professional soldiers will fight for the government for the very large part. These people are not interested in fighting for the enforcement of our Constitution. These are the kind of people that will use that as an excuse to commit terrorism in order to gain power. Once they gain control, who will they go after next? Anyone that disagrees with them and that they do not approve of.
What they don't get is that armed insurrection will most likely get them killed, jailed and dismissed by the public. Just like any run of the mill terrorists.

Sort of. There have been lots of reports, formal and informal, about increasing Dominionism in the US Army and harassment of those enlisted that do not identify as Dominionist. While I don't think that the majority of the Army wouldn't do their jobs, there is a substantial undercurrent of issues that we really ought to be addressing.

I believe the FBI is actively involved in infiltrating these groups and making arrests once they cross a line. The Hutaree (or however you spell it) clowns spring to mind most recently.

The SPLC also keeps extensive tabs on these groups and isn't shy about taking these folks to court for the actions of their members.

I think the majority lack the strength of their convictions and are content to play dress up in the woods with other ignorant fat old men and talk a good talk on the internet, though.

"My Dearest Agnes,

I fear all is lost. Only the thought of your warm embraces and your homemade deep fried lard balls with fried chicken fat sauce gives me the strength to endure. How I long to sit beside the intarnet with you and forward the truth.

At daybreak we mounted our trusty Hoverounds and set out for the dark pit of soshulism that George Washington's house has descended to under the Kenyan Mooslim Communist usurper and we were instantly bedeviled. The demon-rats had blocked the handicap ramps and all that lay before us were stairs.

Stairs three, even four steps in height. The Imp himself could not have built a stouter barricade.

Morale plummeted. We attempted to scale the gentle rise alongside the stairs but our wheels found no purchase. The November chill sapped our batteries and our spirit. Clovis attempted to use his mighty Jazzy to tow those of us bereft of amperage, but soon even his gauge lay bare. We all attempted to contact our Medicare aides to have new batteries delivered, but all was to no avail.

Please, my dearest, take little Joe-Bob's refrigerator college money and send it to Pat Robertson so he can conjure up a prayericane. If not, I fear, this shall be my last.

I remain,

Your Loving Earnhardt"

The costs of health care are no longer reasonable. Hence the need for reform.

I don't disagree, I merely question the means. Obamacare is moronic. It's more of the same buried in 2700 pages of perks and payoffs for special interests while giving the insurance companies 50 million new paying customers. Tell me, have your rates stopped rising?

I'm actually paying much less for health insurance than I was before the Affordable Care Act was passed, but not for any reason directly related to the bill. What the bill has accomplished is let millions of young Americans remain on their parents' plans, slow the growth of Medicare spending, save seniors billions (if I'm not mistaken) on prescription drugs, and allow people with preexisting conditions to get coverage for the first time. And it may yet slow the rising costs for consumers such as myself. The exchanges and other aspects of the bill don't kick in until 2014. Even the architect of Paul Ryan's "premium support" scheme recommends giving the exchanges a chance before trashing the program.
