Evans with a nice non-flop flop.

Yup, f*ck the Clippers.

Gunny Highway: The issue with Meli is that he isn't has good has people think he should be.

There's a lot of this going around. "You're not as good as Jordan! You're not the best ever! I don't know why they keep acting like this guy's great."

So the f*ck what? How f*cking pathetic are you that you're still hung up on a guy's jockstrap from accomplishments 14 years ago, and you can't move on and appreciate what other players bring to the game?

You're making the feel good story of "wow, the Clippers are good?" into something fugly with all the flops, Clips.

Gunny Highway: SmackLT: Neeek: Melo went 3. Darko was #2 in that draft.

Crap, yeah you're right. Although my main point stands.

Gunny Highway: SmackLT: Watching him now, all I think is how good he could be if he cared more.

Cared more?

Carmelo reminds me of Kobe, but without that furious desire to win. Kobe hates losing and is hypercompetitive in a way that I don't see in Carmelo. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who can't sleep after a losing game because he can't stop replaying it in his head.

I agree. It doesn't seem he like he has the competitive fire of the Kobe's and Jordan's of the world but I don't think many people do. That is what separate the goods from the greats. The issue with Meli is that he isn't has good has people think he should be.

I might just be making excuses because I like him.

Great points, especially on the lack of effort, but who really does have that kind of drive? The 2 guys you mentioned do and the other guys that are top 20 all time players. He obviously doesn't get that connection.

I was a big melo fan until the "my teammates quit" comments while he was putting up his 6 boards a game and playing no defense and just generally halfassing it like he did tonight.

Watch where the coach puts him on defense when the games on the line and they need a stop. Is it on the other teams best player or on the fifth guy that just runs to the corner to get out of the way. That will tell you all you need to know about Melo.

True that. I liked Griffin a lot because he seemed to be the antiCP. He'd plow through the lane, shove people out of his way while dunking on everyone and then stare down the opposing coach and bench. That to me is awesome. This you came close to me so i fell crap needs to stay in Argentina.

lol @ Bledsoe, what an idiot. It was an obvious foul - why are you throwing the ball away?

/VDN looks kinda like Simmons.

I'm not saying that Melo should be different than what he is, but unlike a lot of guys in the NBA, he seems like he could be a transformative player, honestly a Hall of Famer, if he wanted it. I don't sense that he wants it that much, though.

2012-05-09 10:49:24 PM
I think he'll be a HOFer pretty easily. He's one of the best scorers in the game and that's what puts asses in seats. Casuals even think he is a good rebounder and ok defender.

You pretty much nailed my frustration with him. He could have an all time great with a couple rings on he just doesnt seem to care.

Let's be honest: Melo doesn't even have the competitive fire of Dwight Howard or Lebron James, let alone Jordan or Kobe. I'd put him ahead of Joe Barely Cares, though. So that's something.

What, exactly, does Anthony bring to the game?

Yeah, but you have to stick around for the second half because...Game One.

Man I haven't thought of Joe Barely Cares in years, thanks for the chuckle. Product of Denver's own East High school! Didn't go there myself but I lived a couple blocks from there for years.

Instant offense.

Won't be a HOFer in my opinion. His one year in college may help his case though.

Clippers are losing their cool.

This is how I expected the whole Memphis-LA series to go. I've missed all the other games but how did the Grizz piss them away?

Stopped throwing the ball into their bigs. shiat their pants when the Clips started to make their runs. It has been a fun series.

He's pretty good with the offensive fouls.

Oh and he's really good at looking dumb as hell but making my girl friend think he's cute for some reason.

I recently read an epic Grantland article on all of the Warriors epic fails since they won their championship. It reminded me about JBC. Check it out if you want to understand the depth and breadth of their sadness.

Holy shiat. Just take Gay out. He's done.

2012-05-10 12:11:03 AM
This is just pitiful. I don't know what the Griz are thinking but this is not how I've seen them play all year. Shoot buckets in the lane like you did all farking year ass holes!

2012-05-10 12:13:45 AM

Now That's What I Call a Taco!: Holy shiat. Just take Gay out. He's done.

This!
Take out Gay, put in Speights and tell them not to take a shot more than 15 feet away from the bucket unless your last name is Mayo.

2012-05-10 12:15:00 AM
Choke factor is at the highest level with the Griz right now. I don't think Hollins can get them out of playing one on one ball for the rest of this game.

2012-05-10 12:15:39 AM
We really know how to choke in Memphis. First the 2008 finals for the University of Memphis and now the 2012 playoffs for the Memphis Grizzlies. I hate watching Memphis sports teams some times.

CP strain his groin flopping? Glad the Griz held up.

True, but I think it was a reference to the fact that they are both perennial losers (well, Memphis has been steadily improving lately, but still).

Dear Memphis fans,

That "Beat LA" chant doesn't apply to the Clippers.

That was a really good article. The Warriors draft incompetence is truely amazing. The guys they've left on the board over the years is gobsmacking: Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, Kobe Bryant and on and on.

I hated Josh McDaniels for his incredibly shiatty 2009 draft I couldn't imagine the depth of my rage if my favorite team had 20+ years of that. I have a new respect for warriors fans. If there are any that haven't committed suicide by now.

I live in Warriors country and a bunch of my friends are fans. In fact, one of them sent me that article after I said Warriors fans have no class for booing the owner they way they did at Chris Mullin's jersey retirement game. After reading it, I told him I now understood why they acted so crassly and apologized for doubting him.

As a Lakers fan who only has a passing interest in the Warriors (I actually like the team), their FAIL is just a footnote on every season to me. But for a fan, it's a never-ending Peanuts cartoon where they're Charlie Brown and fate is Lucy pulling the football away, then laughing at them as they fall flat on their backs. And every June, during the draft, they get back up and swear this time, Lucy will not pull the football away at the last second.

I honestly shake my head at why someone would support such incompetence, but they wear it like a badge of honor. It's like it somehow makes them BETTER fans because they can root for a team that has completely and utterly failed for so long. But what do I know? I've been an Angels fan since the late 70's LOL
